Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Trying to decide which version to pick up this weekend. PS3 or 360.
If I don’t really care about the challenge map on the PS3, which one should I get? Graphically and frame rate wise, are they the same? |

For those solving the riddles... I am stuck on one.
Spoiler:
I am stumped and spent a bunch of time trying to figure that one out and am at a loss. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Quick dumb question as I didn't have time to scan the thread. Is this title only available on PS3 and XBox 360? Any plans for other platforms down the road? Thanks!

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I just started playing the game (ps3). So far it's a really fun Batman game. The only gripe i have right now is the voice actor for Commisionar gordon. He sounds horrible.
And i'm kinda confused on the detective mode. I pushed the L2 button it scanned one room but when i go to another room I push the L2 button and it wont come up. Is it just room specific? Are there any audio tapes or diaries i need to scan for? |

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
finally got to pop this in. it's spectacular. everything i've ever wanted in a batman game and more. and i'm only about 1.5 hours in. could it possibly get better???? this is going to be a fantastic franchise.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Yes. It gets better...much better.
I'm just about at the very end, I don't want it to end!!! |

Now I want a rocksteady punisher game... I would seriously kill someone for that. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Just let them produce all superhero games from this point on.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Finished the game today. I'm now 70% done with the game - I have a lot of stuff left to find - and the challenge maps require that you find a specific item or Riddler's trophy. And the challenge maps are quite difficult for me. Right now, this is the game to beat for game of the year.
BTW, as far as trophies/achievements and difficulty level goes - Spoiler:

Since you finished, am I as close to the end as I think I am?

These two games are gonna be hard to top for all future superhero games. And while not a big fan of online multiplayer, i think this game could've had some great m.p. modes. They could've had a v.s. mode where one player is batman and the other players would be the villains trying to take down batman. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
How do you hand the guys from gargoyles? I got it to work in the demo no problem but the option isn't showing up in the game.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Have you "bought" that ability yet?
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Ok, 2 more hours.. Now I am down to 10 secrets left to find... I am totally stumped on 2 of them now.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Just beat the story mode on normal. Absolutely fan-fucking-tastic. The ending is so good, I pretty much jumped out of my seat and cheered at the climax. This was a brilliant game, it really felt like a feature length episode of Batman: The Animated Series. Here's hoping they can put together a sequel that tops it.

Wow, I just noticed that if you go to the video tab on the main PS3 screen you have an option for BAA and from there you can watch 8 videos or so on the making of the game and such things.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Interview tapes, the Arkham stones, and killing those chattering teeth also count as riddles.

Some of the Riddler challenges are just things like "Destroy 5 sets of Joker teeth" and "Destroy 10 sets of Joker teeth". There seems to be one set of those per area, so you may have gotten those without realizing it.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
They definitely give experience, so yes on the upgrade points. Not sure how Batman heals, but I haven't paid attention or bothered to RTFM since that takes away valuable playing time.

I think it heals automatically. I took some hits when that dude from Lady in the Water was fighting me, then it healed up when i ran away before the brain hemorrhage took him out. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Yeah, I love how Batman has a "no killing" rule, but he cracks skulls like eggs and then leaves the scene. I'm sure his death ratio is closer to 47% than he'd like to believe.

I love the way they did combat in this game. It appears there is a large variety to it as well because I see him do something different every time I am in a large fight. I really enjoy the aspect of being at the top of the room, watching what is going on and then figuring out how to take out each guy quickly and quietly. The fact that there are so many ways and options to do this make replayability higher than expected for me. And I don't mind getting my ass kicked and then going back to the drawing board and trying something else. I know Kevin Conroy is the "voice" of Batman but sometimes his lines in this game seem phoned. Mark Hamill, on the other hand, seems at the top of his game every time he say ANY line. Who knew where Luke would end up! Was it ever determined if you get to keep your leveled up Batman if you finish on Normal and then want to move to Hard? |

I understand that traditionally games like this have upgrade features but ... he's Batman! Shouldn't he know how to do all this stuff already? |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I forgot to ask for those Fallout 3 players playing this game...do you walk up to every locker and try to open the damn thing? Just two weeks of playing Fallout 3 recently and I am playing the Batman game just like it.
Every desk, every locker...I walk up and hit A and nothing happens. It's almost automatic and I can't seem to break it yet. |
