For me, when I used Detective Mode on the door I was immediately like so I went in with fists flying thinking that it was a normal encounter.

It wasn't until later that I found out they don't attack until you strike.

I know this point has been made already but I hope they find a better way to use Detective Mode. I mean, there was nothing wrong with it per se, but I spent 98% of the game with it "on" out of fear of missing something and I realize now I didn't really get to see the game's graphics in regular mode.

See, for me it was fine. I would just flash it on and then off again, when I entered a new room.

I went in there, threw around some explosive gel, walked to the end, turned around, and blasted. Was able to knock out one or two before the rest knew what was up.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Just finished all 240 Riddler Challenges. It got kind of tough towards the end; I couldn't find two Joker Teeth (one in Penitentiary and the other in Arkham Mansion). Had to turn to the internet to find 'em, as I wasn't going to spend another hour or two searching for one pair of teeth in each place.

Also had to look up how to find the last Chronicle of Arkham, as I had no idea of how I was going to find that one.

I had to cheat for a couple teeth and some stuff in the sewers. And the last CoA. There's no way I would have found that, I misunderstood the penultimate CoA, and was looking in the wrong places...

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I just finished the game. What a disappointing ending to such a great game.
Spoiler:
I hated the pumped up Joker and then on top of that you didn't even get to fight him. The fight before that w/the 2 titans was more difficult (beat Joker on the second try).
Sorry if this has been brought up already, but I've been avoiding spoilers.

So, I ended up with 223/240 riddles. I guess I'll go grab the remaining ones and that should wipe the Joker battle from my memory.

edit: Sorry, I thought everyone was posting the games details. That's why I wasn't reading through the thread while playing.

update: got all 240 riddles, now I just need to find the last Chronicle of Arkham.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Then maybe you might not want to spoil the end boss fight for other folks? I don't think it's a big deal, but you never know other people's spoiler tolerance, so it's better to err on the side of caution.

I do agree that the last boss encounter was a little lame. It felt very much like a 16 bit boss battle to me for some reason. I think it would have been cooler if it was more psychological -- like say the Sniper Wolf battle in Metal Gear Solid. Either have the Joker hunting you, or you hunting the Joker (with the Joker finding some way to disable your detective vision, so that you're fighting "blind"). Have the music drop out entirely, and just have the sounds and taunts from the Joker be the things you hear.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Okay so I'm looking for the final Chronicle of Arkham.
Spoiler:

After running around looking for random people I left behind, I came to the conclusion that it has to be the warden. So, I ran to the penitentiary where I left him, but he's not there. Next, I looked on the map for the warden's office and ran there, positive I was right. Nope...not there either.

Am I completely off the mark with what I'm thinking/doing?

Awesome, thanks! At least I know I'm on the right track.

edit...Just got it.
Spoiler:
I thought I was looking for a person. At first I thought it was the guy I saved that was wearing the medical face guard. I thought it was weird that his face was covered. So I went and scanned him without any luck, then I realized it had to be the warden.

Great game! Best game I've played since Fallout 3.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I'm only a quarter through. Anyone go to this forum right after a prolonged play session in detective mode? The blues and greys here match those that have burned into my rods & cones for the past few hours and it feels like I'm still in detective mode.

I just got past the part where you follow Dr Young's fingerprints. I suspect she must be drunk because she put her hand on just about every wall she walked past.

is probably the hardest level I've played so far. I must've died a hundred times. I finally was able to find a starwell that i just crouched behind and waited till one of the guards walked by the stairs. Pretty cool how you can use so many different strategies to take em out.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Just got this along with Beatles Rock Band from BB for the b1g1 1/2off thing. Never played a rock band game before (already have the drums) so just needed the game.

Anyway, I played Batman and it's beautiful and lots of fun. I was worried that the sneakin' would be a drag but so far (I'm not that far in) it's been bearable. The combat is hot shit, too. I downloaded the Joker addon and tried that a bit, but couldn't get past the third wave of dudes. Anyway, I think I'm done for Resistance 2 for a while since this game has me pretty hooked.

Here how I did it my way.

Spoiler:
While still up in the airshaft, I waited for one of the guard down below to turn around, then I swoop down and did a silent takedown on the guard and immeditely spray explosive gel on him and quickly grapple back to airshaft. About three guards would come over and examine the down guard, I then detonate the explosive gel knocking out the guards, I again swoop down from the airshaft and quickly do a ground takedown on all three guards and grapple back to the airshaft. I only had just two guards to handle which didn't take me long to take them down.

My favorite level so far and i really hope is available as challenge map.
Spoiler:
I did a silent takedown on the first guy. Then i dropped down and ran underneath. The last guy to run to the first body i took with a ledge takedown and then scooted away. I made it into the center building so i could open the grate and give me another tunnel to run through. I just used a sonic here and there and slowly separated them and picked them off.

You have to find the Riddler's riddles to unlock all the challenges.

It took a bit longer but I...

Dropped out of the air vent onto the first guy then grappled over to the roof of the center building and used explosive gel on the roof glass or dropped through the glass for a takedown
