DVD Talk Platinum Edition
I'm definitely late to the party with a lot of this Live Arcade stuff, but man have I been impressed with Castle Crashers and Braid. Worth owning the console just for those. Braid I wasn't liking a lot during World 3, but I came around during the puzzles in 4,5 and 6 and that mind blowing ending. I have spent hours thinking about it. Now I found out there are hidden stars so I guess I start it over and play again.
I'm trying to decide on an RPG to try. Is Blue Dragon worth a playthrough at its current low price? I know it had flaws, but maybe its worth it for a budget title.

For RPG's, I never played Blue Dragon but you should really look into Lost Oddysey. One of the best rpg's I ever played.

Yeah, there's some walkthroughs on getting the hidden stars on youtube - after watching a couple (they're sped up, or else they'd be too long for youtube) I realized they're far too tedious to bother with.

The New Xbox Experience Preview program
I know that many of you are excited to get your hands on the New Xbox Experience, which will go live all Xbox LIVE regions wide on November 19th. Well, we’re just as excited to as you are so I am happy to announce that I’ve been working on a little project that I think may interested you.
Working with various teams across Xbox, we’ve developed a program to allow a select few of you early access to NXE. How do you get chosen? The first step is to head on over to Microsoft Connect, sign in with your Windows LIVE ID and join the "Xbox 360 Fall 2008 Preview Program" by clicking on this link, https://connect.microsoft.com/Invita...YWQ&SiteID=719.
Once you do that, you need to fill out the "Xbox 360 Fall Flash Preview Sign Up" survey in order to be considered for receiving the Preview System Update. We're asking a few questions about where you live, your home network, ISP connection and a few other pieces of information. We are looking for a good cross-section of our members in order to get the best feedback we can.
The LIVE Service team will then review all of the applications and if you’re selected we’ll send you an email notifying you of your acceptance in the program. A couple of points before you head off to register:
· We’re looking for a few thousand participants, so your chances of making it in are good
· This opportunity is open to all Xbox LIVE Members in regions where Xbox LIVE is available
· Just completing the survey does not automatically get you access to the NXE. We’ll be making final selections from from the completed surveys.
· Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up. Priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.
If you are accepted, you'll hear from us in about a week. Make sure your information on Connect is updated so we can email you.
Good luck!

How many of you guys have 2 (or more) 360s? I'm moving soon, and will have a dedicated HT room in addition to my "normal" setup in the living room. For starters, I'm not sure if I'll want to game in my HT room - is playing games on a 100"+ screen going to make me sick, or is it just going to be that much better?
we just finished building a new home with s 24x16 ft. dedicated theater. i have a pioneer elite front projector (a rebadged JVC RS2) throwing onto a 120" screen. 360 and PS3 in there. it is phenomenal. you will not be disappointed...

I use a Mitsubishi DLP 720p Projector on a 106" High Powered (Da-Lite) screen. (The best sub-$1000 combo ever, dammit!
)
The catch is... it's in my living room (I live in an apartment) and I usually have it at around 98" due to distance restraints on the projector (the 1.2x on DLP is somewhat limiting, wasn't an issue in my last place, but I basically have to have it on the couch to get it to the full 106" diag here). At 1500 ANSI Lumens, it actually works pretty well with light/sunlight in the room as well so it isn't a problem.
Gaming on it is wonderful, I couldn't imagine using anything else. Even at 106" it doesn't overwhelm my relatively small room (it is very big though, no doubt), in general 100"+ in a dedicated home theater room is flat out greatness for gaming. Just be sure you have comfortable seating (the house I used to live in with some buddies had a home theater setup (same projector, homemade screen around 110"), we wound up using a couple 6' x 6' bean bag chairs for seating and while great for watching a movie, it sucked for gaming).

I picked this bad boy up the other day at Wal-Mart ($27). It's 12" tall and very detailed.

Surprise! Avatar store coming next Spring
Posted Oct 28th 2008 12:00PM by Dustin Burg
According to the peeps over at VideoGamer.com, Microsoft will be launching an Avatar store next Spring where gamers can purchase and download additional customization options for their 360 Avatars.
"The plan of record will be to launch a more extensive Avatar Store from spring time onwards next year," said Live EMEA product manager Robin Burrowes. "That store in theory would have branded content in there, game publisher IP stuff in there as well." No surprise there.
To be honest, we're still torn about Avatars, the role they'll be playing in our New Xbox Experience, how Microsoft is approaching the monetizing of them and whether or not we'll be willing to pay for a Gears of War 2 t-shirt for our Avatar next Spring. Because ... you know ... an Avatar rockin' a Gears 2 tee would be rather badass.

Why are they wasting their time with this? And they really expect a decent portion of the user-base to pay for this content? I'm all for unlockables, like gamer pics, but I'll stick with what they give me for free.

Because there are people who give a shit. If not, 2nd Life wouldn't be running, WoW, Everquest, etc. Whether those groups transfer over to the 360 I have no clue, but there's a market for almost anything.
