it's what you'd expect. ridiculous prices just like the gold AH.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

Yup, not that I ever planned on paying for items anyway.

I threw a bunch of stuff on there for a buck and a quarter (minimum) just to see.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

if you put items on there that do not sell...do you lose any money?

No, doesn't look like it.

crap then, i put alot of decent stuff on the gold auction house last night. i could have made a few bucks probably. i figured you would have to pay a listing fee regardless of whether it sold or not.

If you ever need a push through some lower level hardcore stuff, give me a Hollar. I've got my Monk up to 53 now.

Just saw this on reddit:

Can't vouch for its veracity, but good luck everyone!

Wow, just wow

Oh and Inferno act 2 can just fuck right off. There were 4 of us in the group. 3 warriors with like 20k hp (wtf?) and I had 85k and one blue, ONE FUCKING BLUE killed all 4 of us with 1 hit.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

yeah that happened to my buddy last night. said he was getting 3 hit killed on random yellow bastards.

i see the real money auction house has fucked the gold one. listed a bunch of stuff yesterday. not a single thing sold.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

Wow..ok

So against my better judgment I spent 20 bucks on the auction house upgrading my gear. I placed the items I replaced back up and now have (or will once pending transactions go through) 57 dollars in my battle.net account...so I have already more than doubled my investment...lol..my god

People spent more for lower quality gear than I did for the upgrades...

I found my first legendary last night. It was an "ok" belt, but nothing useful for my current character. I put it on the auction house and sold it for $25.00. LOL I couldn't believe I made $25 for selling an imaginary belt. My wife couldn't believe it.

Thanks Groucho for giving me a hand last night in Act 2 Hell. It was fun and hope to do it again soon.

i figured this would happen. there isn't any incentive to put good items on the gold auction house anymore when you can put that item and make "real" money on the RMAH. you can't really blame folks for taking that route, blizzard is the bad guy in this situation. I wonder how much money Blizzard made yesterday from the RMAH?

As far as I know, this is the first game with a RMAH so it'll be interesting to see how things shake out. I was hoping to throw some commodities up last night but it wasn't working yet.

In the end, I think the gold AH will still be viable because there's always going to be users who can't (or won't) want to participate in the cash auctions. But inflation will be off the hook since anybody can easily be a millionaire now.

I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I can make money from playing a video game. I am 33 years old and that is brand new territory for me. I made $25 last night from selling an imaginary belt that I got from a couple of hours of "fun time", crazy.

There are going to be lots of folks, who have no lives and play this game all time, that will make some serious cash. One guy on another forum I go to made $300 bucks last night...insane

Do you guys think prices will go down after the dust settles with the RMAH? Right now there is the excitement of "wow, i can buy this awesome weapon I have been looking for forever for $100....click, click bought"

I don't know. It might not settle down. I used to play a stupid iPad game called Crime City. I was addicted to the stupid thing for a while, but finally wised up and quit cold turkey and deleted it. Anyway, it's a free game, but in order to "compete" you pretty much have to spend real money on it. Certain people were absolutely obsessed with having the best stuff and having the best stats and they literally spent thousands and thousands of dollars. Even I spent maybe $150 and that was bad enough in my opinion.

I think the vast majority of players won't spend a dime on the real money auction house. Some people will spend maybe $20-50 like one time or just a few times and then a very small percentage of diehards or "no lifers" or whatever you want to call them, will spend a ridiculous amount of real money on the thing.

Unless I'm mistaken, you can beat the game even on Inferno without spending anything, but certain people are simply obsessed with getting the best stuff and getting the best stats and have no problem spending a bunch of money just to increase their DPS by a little bit.

I think it would be interesting to see a "No Auction House" mode for characters. Similar to Hardcore, where you'd have a separate stash and artisans, only in this mode your characters don't have access to the auction house.

Unless you are some amazing Korean gamer, you will have to at least visit the gold auction house to have a "snowball's chance" in Inferno. most of my gear is from the GAH, it is rare that i get weapon drops for the level i am at. i will sometimes get a glove, ring, or bracer drop that i can use, but other than that...nada. I wouldn't be on Hell difficulty now without Gold Auction House purchases. I would say it is just about impossible to do inferno without auction shopping...unless you do jedi mind tricks on the loot system to drop you good stuff. i haven't played inferno yet, but i have read it is extremely tough. However the next patch will "nerf" it somewhat, but i don't think it will be enough to avoid GAH purchases.

it will be interesting to see how they handle PvP when it is available. In my opinion RMAH buyers should only be able to fight other RMAH buyers otherwise it will be completely unfair.

I'm glad they are addressing the difficulty with Acts 2-4 inferno in the next patch. I think it's simply poor game design that it is pretty much impossible to take on Act 2 without gear that drops from Act 2. However you can't get that gear because you're getting one hit killed by any elite without question.

I have beat Act 1 inferno. Act 2 is just on another level. You should be able to at least partially gear up for Act 2 from drops in Act 1. That makes sense to me. Why on earth would they restrict those drops even from the outset?

Maybe RMAH buyers can have an asterisk by their collected ears.

This was the biggest problem with that Crime City game I mentioned above. That's essentially a 100% PvP game. There is a solo mission storyline, but it's pretty worthless. Most players only play the game for the PvP aspect.

Anyway, the players that either didn't spend real money or spent very little had no chance against the higher level sharks, as we called them, because the real money spenders had stats that were light years beyond what the free players had. Basically, once you got to a certain level, you would lose pretty much every single fight if you hadn't spent any real money because the sharks had spent thousands of dollars. It turned the game into a case of the haves and have nots, but most of the have nots quit because they couldn't compete so the big money spenders were left to fight each other.

playing a witch doctor, i am confused about dps.
since i use spells (poison dart, exploding skulls etc) and rarely melee, does dps even matter?

those weapons with high + damage - they are mostly useless for wd right? since i pretty much never melee.

I should just load up on weapons with high + intell?

Deftones 06-13-12 11:34 AM

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

yes, because your DPS is multiplied by your INT #. So if you have a DPS weapon of 100 and INT of 100, your true damage is 1000.
