Likely the words of an idiot. I was grinning like a fool while playing, and trying to make sure not to wake up the kid to really pay attention to shit like that.

I'm riding around town in the Coroner's Van right now. Took it right out of the parking lot. Feels pretty good.

Is there a body in the back?

I could google it, but I want the non-spoilerized answer from you guys.
I'm nowhere near finishing the game, but my speculation...

Spoiler:
...based on my happening to read up on the achievements this afternoon, would be that it is connected. The last secret achievement listed is called "The Fighting Sixth" and this is how you get it:

At the Bus Shooting, talk Felix Alvarro into giving up the Marines involved in the Coolridge heist.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/g.../achievements/

A guy I follow on Twitter finished the game and said that the end credits are long (at least 10 minutes) and unskippable, but there is a scene afterward that you should stick around for.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

We are going to be playing with the assists on. Some of the things I never ever would have found without the vibration to alert me to look more closely. Also, the assists mean my wife can give the controller a shot as well and not feel completely lost since she is not a controller style gamer at all. She is more a Kinect/Rock Band/Board game gamer.

I bet you eat steak with utensils too instead of just ripping it with hands and teeth like a normal person.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

I'm giving it a try with the assists off. It feels like a very different game this way. Much more challenging, and certainly more realistic. Like pinata said, I can always replay a case if I miss something important.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

The lady at K-mart screwed up my purchase and took and additional 10.00 of L.A. Noire in addition to getting my 20.00 voucher and my free copy of Rock Band 2 as my 19.99 game. She noticed the error but let it slide cause she didn't want to deal with fixing it.

Can't wait to try this game. I had zero interest in the game until I watched the videos about it on Live last night. The fact that I could identify the actors they used in the game from the game footage blew me away. When my wife could pick out the actor who plays Walter in Fringe even SHE was impressed.

Attaboy! Like I said, you only get to play it the first time once.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

Ruh roh! Anyone here experiencing this?

http://www.destructoid.com/l-a-noire...--201479.phtml

It seems poor Sony just cannot catch a break. The critically acclaimed PS3 Firmware 3.61 may be the cause of Sony consoles overheating when trying to play L.A. Noire. That is, if Rockstar's customer support warning is true.

"We have received some reports of PS3s overheating while playing L.A. Noire or beeping three times before shutting down/turning themselves off, mostly on older 60GB and 80GB fat models," said the company. "Primary reports seem to be that updating to firmware 3.61 will cause PlayStations to overheat. There have been various reports of this on a few different games now, all reporting their PS3s turning off or "Red Lighting" after having installed 3.61."

Rockstar says that Sony has been notified of the issue, and that it is continuing to test L.A. Noire on different PS3 SKUs and different Firmware versions to see what's up.

The support page we were linked to regarding this issue has since been deleted, and we have contacted Rockstar directly to see if they can comment further. We'll provide an update if and when one arrives.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

My family is in the middle of moving, so the only TV I have with me right now at our "old" house is a 20 inch, which makes spotting those small clues impossible to find without the vibration/chime. Hell, even with the assist I'm standing right in front of the screen, squinting and saying "where?"

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

No problems on my 60 GB PS3 so far, but I've only been doing a few cases at a stretch.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

It does sort of tie into what Boba(?) was saying about his graphical flickering on the 360. The software is pushing pretty hard and some of the systems may not be able to keep up. It's a real threat on both sides.

hell it was my contention that this was happening with FW updates back in the 2._ days
certainly cause the BD drive to die on my 40GB fatty within the hour of updating FW and then updating Uncharted 2

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

Where are our next gen consoles already? If these games are really pushing the hardware limit, let's get some new hardware.

I heard back in 2009 that the new xbox was not coming out until 2015 (from IGN and a few other sites) so it was weird to read at IGN that they wanted more info on the new xbox just recently.

To be honest...I am quite content with the content that is being pushed out now...While of course a more powerful system is always a good thing....the current ones are at their peak and it's a time when a lot of great stuff gets released....no rush for me anyway.

And I would love to make you for that, you Okie motherfucker!

This game just keeps getting better and better. I'm so glad I got off my ass to put in disc 2 instead of just selling it then.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

I'm on the case where
Spoiler:
The young daughter of the victim lets you into the house and you look around then interview her. I hope they explore the fact that minors can't give that kind of consent. It would another level of realism to a game already full of it.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

Traded in Crysis 2 at Best Buy and knocked $30 off plus the $10 gc. Didn't have time to really dig into this tonight but look forward to spending a few hours with it tomorrow.
