The PixelJunk Eden demo is a lot of fun. I'll definitely get the full game next week.

For $5 most of these are worth owning. I bought High Velocity Bowling, but I'm terrified to play it on my HDTV. I toss a controller through my LCD and that $5 game isn't such a good deal. Picked up Poker and PAIN as well. Monsters is very well reviewed, but not really my game.
Cool. None of these have demos though do they? I might get PAIN and Monsters (to see what the hype is about). It's so much easier to pull the trigger when my 360 is down for the count.

I went through them tonight to see and I believe Rocketmen and Monsters do... I think Monsters also has a video preview...

Apparently it is 1 week only.

For a week’s time starting today, the PS3 PlayStation Store is running a small 50% off summer sale on five PSN titles. Until the next store update hits, PAIN, PixelJunk Monsters, High Velocity Bowling, High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition, and Rocketmen: Axis of Evil will only cost $4.99 each (down from $9.99)

Damn, I already own every one excpet Poker (I have one for the 360) and Rocketman; maybe i'll pick that up.

Anyone who doesn't have PixlJunk Monsters or High Velocity Bowling should definitely get those -- they're both phenomenal. Pain -- not so much, but it's pretty fun and certainly a much better deal at $5 than at $10.

Anyone have Rocketman? Is it worth buying at $5?

Weird. The section of the store with New Releases that has the "Sale" heading only lists three games when I go there (Bowling, Poker, and Pain).

I already have Pixeljunk, I hear Rocketmen sucks, and the rest don't thrill me.

I was hoping for Everyday Shooter.

Monsters is still there for me, although I don't think I will end up getting it... doesn't appear to be my type of game, but I haven't played the demo yet...

I saw Rocketmen in there earlier and have the demo in queue to be downloaded... even though I played it on the 360 and it was poo... but I can not find it anywhere in the PSN store now.

I already have Pain, so I bought the Poker and Bowling games since I was on the fence for both, especially the bowling.

Chew, PM me with the games you have from PSN. I have Everyday Shooter and we might be able to work a gamesharing. If nothing else, we could do one if you buy Eden next week...

You won't regret HV Bowling. It blows Wii bowling out of the water. Too bad they want to get you to buy new characters, though. Please let me know what you think of the poker game, and if there's any reason to buy it if you already have the XBLA one.

I have to agree on the bowling. I got addicted to it quickly. I'm playing sideways to my TV. The grip on the PS3 control is tight and odds are I would never lose it, but I would rather it bounce off the wall than my TV just in case.

PAIN is worth $5 IMO. I kept trying and trying because I wanted to hit just the right spot for a chain reaction and found it mindless, but a lot of fun. It is great when you final hit the combo you want.

Don't think I will pay extra for characters in either game, but you got a lot out of them for $5.

I haven't played the Poker yet, but I really wanted it because it supports remote play so I can play it with the PSP if I want to. Pixel Junk Monsters does as well. Nice little bonus feature.

The thing is, unlike the Wii version, this game will penalize you for throwing too hard. Just a smooth gentle forward motion is all you need. You should never be in danger of throwing the controller into the TV.

So the bowling game is motion controlled? Interesting.

Yes, it's motion controlled somewhat. You hold the controller in your dominant hand up-and-down, 90 degrees from the normal way (it works with either hand, fortunately for a lefty like me). You swivel your wrist to choose a position along the lane (to the right or left side), then press X to lock that position in. Then you swivel your wrist again to give the ball direction and press X again to lock that in. Then you bring the controller back and gently swing your arm forward to rlease the ball. you can hold down R2 or L2 to give the ball some spin as you release. That's how it works. It's more complex than the Wii set-up but it gives the game more depth.

Seriously, Corvin, just buy the damn thing. You'll get your $5 out of it!

Already did. Now I have to wait for the damn thing to d/l. So I nabbed Bowling & Pain and d/l the demo for Monsters. Am I correct in thinking I cannot play a game while I'm downloading? Or has that issue been resolved?

I just dowloaded 2.4.1 the other day. It actually went pretty fast. I guess being three weeks late to the party has its perks. I still haven't seen the in game XMB either. My poor neglected PS3.

You can play a harddrive game while your download is chugging along, but not a blu-ray game.

That's all I've been playing tonight is the PixelJunk Eden demo. Fucking awesome. Bought two games and I can't quit playing a demo long enough to try them out. So when does that one come out?

eden is pretty awesome. pretty damn frustrating when you just miss landing on a flower and sail right on by all the way to the bottom. but still amazing. great music and great visuals, too.
