There are some, but usually just a single button to avoid an attack from a boss or such. Nothing over the top.

Anyone else get through the game? I finished it last night and thought the end was pretty powerful and really well done.

PopcornTreeCt 12-13-08 03:16 AM

I started playing this night. I really like it. The climbing and jumping is pretty fair. I like the way the moves are set up when you're fighting an enemy. I like the combo and blocking system.

I got the Altair skin and played with it through a level but I think that'll be it. It would've been much cooler to actually have a different character rather than the outfit.

If there's any negatives, it's that the game so far, is very, very repetitive. I know critics were saying that about Assassin's Creed... but this game takes it to new levels. Playing the same 4 bosses over and over again? Ehh... I like the game a lot but come on.

RocShemp 12-13-08 08:17 AM

I personally am enjoying this more than Assassin's Creed. You would think fighting the bosses over and over again would bore me but, to me at least, it really helps build the intensity toward the final confrontation with each.

The only things that actually bores me are the fights with the lesser enemies. Perhaps it's because I don't get much info on them so they're just nameless henchmen to me.

discostu1337 12-13-08 09:56 AM

Just beat the game last night. The game is very repetitive and frustrating at times, yet visually stunning and fun to play. I would definitely recommend people at least try it and see if they like it before buying it. My rating would be a 7.75/10.

dino88 12-13-08 10:29 PM

played for about 1 1/2 hrs and i'm bored with it. nothing challenging and way too repetitive. i'm just glad i rented it and didn't spend the $60. i've got the game for another 4 days, but i doubt i'll go back to it. fallout 3 is calling me back.

did anyone else get the sound glitch? the music that gets louder and more intense when fighting an enemy and then goes away away after the enemy has been beaten. well, the music would not die for me. it continued for about 20 minutes, even through dialogue with elika(?). that was when i decided i had enough of the game.

Unless you're refering to some alternate ending you receive by collecting all 1001 light seeds in the game, I have to disagree with you. The ending was the only part of the game I didn't like.

Spoiler:
I fully expected Elika to die once it was explained why the Mourning King sold his soul. I figured the Prince's greater destiny would be revealed (Elika kept hammering that point home) and he'd have to face it alone. Instead, he undoes all he and Elika worked so hard to accomplish. After all the development between the two, I think this comes across as a total dick move rather than some moving sacrifice on the part of the Prince. It makes no sense that he would assume that he and Elika would be happy together by his unleashing Ahriman once again.

In short, I felt it was total slap in the face to how the characters and the story had been developing up to that point.

Other than that, I loved this game and am eager to play it anew.

Spoiler:
Well...I think for me it spoke to the fact that the Prince is in fact a selfish dick, so it was perfect for the character. :) Maybe that greater destiny stuff is later down the road. (I.E. PoP 2 or 3) I liked how it played out, but admittedly, I can see people either loving it or hating it. My only issue with it was that the game gave you the sense of having a choice, but you as the player really didn't. That kind of bummed me out that they made me be the one that had to carry out the actions even if I would've rather gone another path. :(

RocShemp 12-15-08 07:02 AM

I think that's what really bummed me out about the ending.
Spoiler:
The fact that I had a set path. Believe me, I kept looking for a way around doing what the Prince was to do.

I get your whole "the Prince is in fact a selfish dick" angle, though. It's just that after all the character development between he an Elika, it seemed like a total regression in his character arc.

However, I just recalled a conversation with Elika (part of the reason I am replaying the game already) where she revealed to the Prince that there are many fertile grounds scattered across the world. Perhaps the Prince thinks there's a different way to imprison Ahriman without it costing Elika her life.

I'll give the story of the inevitable sequel the benefit of the doubt, as long as it doesn't go into Warrior Within territory with regards to the Prince's (or Elika's) personality.

PixyJunket 12-15-08 08:22 AM

Man, once I saw the E3 trailer for this game I hyped it in my head to an unreasonable level (it's probably my favorite video game trailer ever), so eventually I had to come to grips with reality, as there was no way the game was going to live up to that trailer.

Well, it DID. I fucking love this game. I beat it over the weekend getting all 1001 light seeds. I loved the final battle (they FINALLY got it right for this type of game) and I loved the ending (it did feel weird playing it out though). This is my Xbox 360 game of the year! I'm already ready to play it a second time as Altaïr and Jade to get the achievements I missed (could never figure out the Combo Master one for some reason).

Also, I'm totally addicted to the song the game plays when you're in the training palace (when Elika gets a new move).

If they Warrior Within the sequel, I'm going to cry.

Christmas needs to get here soon, I need to play this.

Michael Corvin 12-15-08 08:50 AM

o/t but Pixy, any new word on BG&E2? It's been pretty quiet since the initial announcement/trailer. They are clearly teasing it with the skin posted above.

I can ask, but if there was something worth noting it probably would have been told to me based on my absolute love of the original. Also, there are times when I can't actually repeat everything I know (and people here got all bitchy and whiny when I would drop subtle hints, so fuck 'em).

PixyJunket 12-15-08 04:32 PM

This is one of my favorite extras in a long time.

Subtle hints is better than no news at all. So if you find out anything at all, please let us know to the extent you are allowed to disclose the information, Pixy. :)

dvdsteve2000 12-15-08 11:07 PM

How do you play as Altair? I registered at Ubi.com, and when I check the extras it asks for an 8 digit code, where do I get the code? I didn't see it in the manual.

All good man. Let us know what you can.

Oh, and if I can ask, why the change of heart about the forum?

PopcornTreeCt 12-16-08 02:24 AM

Just finished this game. Wow, the ending bummed me out. I was hoping to see a Donkey and everything. Well, I guess it opens it up for a sequel which I'll be there to play. I didn't get the Speed Demon achievement, I guess that's what I get for spending so much time talking to her.

You have to do it through the game. On the main menu I think the Y button is labeled as "Exclusive Content." It'll take you to a web interface, simply put in your ubi.com login and password and you'll have the costume.

No change of heart, I just needed an internet break (well, mostly a forums break).

PixyJunket 12-16-08 04:46 PM

Well, here's a picture of the final two costumes, they're the very first initial designs of The Prince and Elika. They are currently only unlockable in the PC version by getting all 1000 light seeds. I'll let you guess as to how they will probably be unlocked in the console versions (hint: nickles and/or dimes).

No Use For A Name 12-16-08 05:23 PM

In case anyone doesn't already have them, here's an unlock code for The Sands of Time Prince and Farah: 525858542

Enter it into the Skin Manager menu.

mattysemo247 12-17-08 07:22 AM

So this game is $40 today @ Amazon for the DOTD. What do you guys think? Is it worth it at that price or wait for another price drop?

Michael Corvin 12-17-08 07:39 AM

 I paid full price and still haven't popped it in yet.

PixyJunket 12-17-08 08:18 AM

I paid (sort of) full prince, played it, beat it and already started a second game.

DVDGamer 12-17-08 11:34 AM

Which version is better, 360 or PS3? Is there a thread that compares versions for both systems? I frequently have the problem of determining w/c version of a game I should get. Thanks.
