^ Did you not have to watch the tutorial first?

I actually d/l the game site unseen. I'm a Galaga slappy from way back so there was no way I wasn't going to buy this game.

Remember when we had to wait until Monday for that week's XBLA announcement? Well, not anymore. Not only do we know about Castle Crashers (1200 points, 8/27), Shred Nebula and Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball (800 points each, 9/3), but now we know what's coming 9/10 as well. Could be fun, but most PS3 owners and every Wii owner already has a bowling game, so we'll see how well this sells:
RocketBowl Blasts onto Xbox Live Arcade on September 10
Bowling with a 1950s retro-futuristic twist is coming to XBLA.
August 22, 2008 - A refreshing twist on a classic sport, RocketBowl offers a '50s style retro-futuristic vibe, out-of-this-world courses and rocket-powered bowling balls; Rocket Bowl rolls a perfect game of fun on the Xbox Live Arcade. Players will compete in tournaments, challenge their friends in multiplayer, test their bowling skills and more!
Game Features
Rocket-Powered Bowling Balls - Rocket powered balls boost, jump and turn to help players knock down the pins and earn extra points with wild shots.
10 Crazy Bowling Courses - In addition to a regular bowling alley, RocketBowl features 9 crazy courses filled with ramps, tunnels, loops, hills, curves and more to create a bowling experience like never before.
Fun and Varied Single-Player Mode – Single-player RocketBowl allows players to take on the variety of courses in Free Play mode; or challenge the course pros in Tournament and Challenge mode where they can wager and win money to upgrade their equipment.
Exciting Multiplayer Matches - Up to 4 friends can compete against each other over Xbox Live or locally on one system. Xbox Live play features Player (unranked) and Ranked matches.
Upgrade Your Equipment – Using cash earned by winning matches, players can upgrade from more than 15 unique bowling balls including Strawbally, 8-Ball, the Jupiter 5000 and the Kalamazoo Special – more powerful bowling balls feature enhanced boost and curve abilities.
Players will enjoy the robust, full game features of RocketBowl for 800 Microsoft Points. RocketBowl was developed by 21-6 Productions Inc., and is rated "E" (Everyone) by the ESRB.
Or of course you could just play it now for free

And speaking of Castle Crashers, here's the Destructiod team playing the first few minutes of the game. They give commentary just as juvenile and lame as any you'd hear on Live (well, almost), but the game itself looks like so much fun. Especially in multi-player. 1200 points actually seems like a bargain here.

I like early announcements. Sounds interesting, but I don't know if I like bowling enough as a game to buy it.
2 comments: is it just me, or does "Shred Nebula" sound like a character from Futurama?
secondly, again, is it just me, or is anyone else entirely sick of the word "robust" being applied to videogames/gaming?

I'm really enjoying Galaga. Would someone that has the full game mind adding me as a friend? Please? I currently don't have friends that own the game and I'd like to challenge myself. I'm not great at it but haven't spent much time playing either. My gamertag is
beesonosu
Thanks!
PS: I'm going to send invites to rsra13, pinata360, Sith Draven, rogbib, and dtcarson. If you don't accept or you are4 full that's okay. Anyone else is welcome as well - my friends list is very small.

Shoot me an invite guys. I have damn near 100 dvdtalkers on my list. What's a few more?
I had a near perfect run on the first area earlier. Scored 1 million. Unfortunately Area 2 fucked me up, royally, and it was wasted. Didn't even pass my own high score.
*edit - put in a few runs around 2am last night and surpassed Pixy's score. Unfortunately I added beesonosu to my friends list otherwise I'd be at the top.

I finally tried the Braid demo and instantly bought the game. I'm enjoying the heck out of it, and through worlds 2 and 3 with all the puzzle pieces. A few took a lot of starring and running back and forth, but eventually came to me. Great game. Too bad Jonathan Blow seems like a tool (after reading his calling of World of Warcraft "unethical")

Finally tried Geo. Wars 2 tonight. Played under a friends account. I'm not a fan of GW, but had to try out Pacifism and damn, I'm buying the game just for that mode. I tried all the others but none hook me. Pacifism is essentially Pac Man though, so I'm all over it.
Speaking of, what is the resident high score on that mode amongst everyone here? I thought I did pretty good, but since I was on his account I couldn't compare my scores to DVDtalkers.

My friends that have it were sitting at 6 mil and 11 mil and were impressed at those scores. After a few tries I had 15 mil, and a few more netted me over 20 million, so I can't wait to get it later and have some real competitors.

Well after about 20 minutes I pulled a 34mil round. I'm on my way Pinata. Wax on/Wax off only took about 3 tries. :P
