i buy used games all the time. it would be awful to have a console that prevented me from doing that. I buy lots of games off of ebay. Just bought a used Armored Core V for $43.00 on ebay today. That is a heck of a deal for a game that just came out in the past week or two. It would suck not to be able to do this with a new console.

I don't like Gamestop, but I'll be sitting this gen of gaming out if they get rid of used games and backward compatibility. I don't know what's happened to the gaming industry the last 5 years or so, but it seems they've been nickel and diming us for everything. First, video games get a $10 price hike, then the cost of Xbox Live is raised by $10, not to mention the rise in DLC (90% of which is a rip-off) and the $15 map packs that include 3 maps, now they're including codes in some games that are required to play online.

I know it's a business first and foremost, but I draw the line at the number of times Micro$oft and Sony can take a dump on my face before I've had enough. Sony already has their outrageously priced PS3 ($600 at launch) to thank for me going with the Xbox over the PS3 this gen, even though I far prefer Sony.

So yeah... looks like I'll be going Nintendo or PC gaming, or retro gaming next gen. If this is at all true, that is.

Nintendo really is the way to go, for next gen. Just wait until you see the awesome launch games, as well as what's in store for the future :up:

I will probably just stick with the wii u next gen for the first party titles and my gaming pc will be for multi-plat titles. Hell i have enough of a backlog where i wont need to buy any new games for the next ten years :lol: If Sony and Microsoft are serious about getting into DD they need to have prices lower and have sales like Steam does.

And? Nothing could do what the Wii did either. How did that last? Believe me, I still hurt about Nintendo's fall, but no matter how shitty Sony and MS get, it won't make Nintendo any safer of a bet.

Profit margin is too low on new games. Plus, some of those sales would be lost because people wouldn't be trading in their old games towards new ones.

I really hope so too.

But given the success of GS, I think they may change it some way, that only games for the new generation count. I mean, they have to "force" you to buy the new consoles and new games, right?

I doubt they see a distinction. I don't. It'd be a neat stat, to be sure, but at the end of the day it's all just gamer history and the real one will be combined.

I'd kinda like it split, kinda like how Bungie let you track both Halo 2 & 3 stats separately. Maybe give people some kind of icon next to their name based on their 360 gamerscore.

People actually care about their GS? I like earning achievements, but that's more about my obsessive OCD need-to-do everything compulsion rather than inflating some random number.

I'm 95% confident that MS does care about them or they wouldn't have all these rules around them.

Have you ever heard of websites like www.trueachievements.com or www.xbox360achievements.org ? They're pretty popular...

But, anyway, that's way off topic. GS will continue and continue to expand. I just don't think MS cares about distinguishing between Xbox 360 and Xbox 720. They don't segregate out WP7 achievements, for example.

You've proven that there is, in fact, people who have a hobby of GS. I don't see the appeal of spending money on kiddie games that offer easy achievements, but that's just me.

Anyway, I don't see WP7 competing with the Xbox 360 console. That's why I think they may, somehow, differentiate GS/achievements, between the current and next console.
