For someone who wanted Borderlands or Uncharted 2 (both AWESOME games, BTW) without wanting to buy two other $60 games, it's a smoking deal.

I can't find a use for it right now, though.

Borderlands and Ratchet for me. That's cheaper than going to BB right?

Edit: I just checked and Ratchet is not included :(

Wow....thanks for the heads up on this. Great deal with no tax and two of the games I wanted being $7 bucks cheaper than Best Buy. I'll use the $40 credit on Dragon Age!

Couldn't resist. Got Uncharted and Uncharted 2 for $81.98. I'll use the extra $40 to grab NBA 2k10.

I don't know what else to get. I'm going to get Borderlands for $53.99 and return my $59.99 + tax copy to TRU ($65.10 total) so I'm already coming out $11.11 ahead there.

I need to spend $26.01 more (really only $14.90 out of pocket) at Amazon to get another game $40 back.

I wish Lego Rock Band or the God of War Collection were on this list for pre-order. I'd do Fallout 3 GOTY, but Amazon's price sucks compared to what I got it for.

Are the Rock Revolution drums any good? I see that the game and drums are only $35 and part of this promotion...

God No!

Although the drums aren't currently available in stores (they'll ship next month), we've tested them thoroughly and the results were not at all good. Compared to the Rock Band drum set, the Rock Revolution peripheral is an abomination that must be destroyed lest it breed and multiply. Picture a 1980s-era toy electronic drum kit that's been flattened and compressed into a tight rectangle. Then assign each of the seven (yes, seven) pads a different color and make some of the shapes circles of different sizes while others are triangles with rounded surfaces. It's a failed peripheral from the start, but I haven't even gotten to the worst of it yet.

When you're playing drums along with an awful cover of, say "Blitzkrieg Bop," you'll see a line of seven pads along the bottom of the screen. You'll think to yourself, OK, I can do this. Breathe. Then the notes begin to fall, and all hell breaks loose. Where is the platinum-colored triangle? Wait, is the magenta triangle the farthest one to the right? They all seem like they're on the same plane! And in the middle of it all, you realize the kick pedal has been assigned the color orange and stuffed amongst all the other colors on-screen, just another face in the crowd. Part of the problem is that all the falling notes appear as circles, which doesn't help your brain separate the triangular pads from the circular ones on the set as you're playing. Confused yet? We're just getting warmed up.

Not only are the pads on the drum set clustered together awkwardly like plates at a tapas restaurant, they're also unresponsive, they lie too flat (resulting in unwanted rim shots), and when struck they sound like upturned plastic buckets. I was already frustrated with the Drum Set From Hell, but when a loading screen suggested I "try cross-sticking" to get the true drumming experience, I nearly threw the thing into the San Francisco Bay.

I got Demon Souls & A Boy and His Blob. Between this and the BB sale this week, I've spent quite a bit on games.

This will teach me to never buy a game full price again. Two week ago, I paid $174 dollar for Demon Souls, Uncharted 2, and Fallout 3 GOTY and that was even with a $15 dollar discount. I also preordered Borderlands through spun.com for $52 dollars. They claim it has shipped, but nothing yet.

That sucks mate - this time of year I never buy full price games. TRU always has its B2G1 sale in the fall and other retailers usually follow suit.

But depending on which Demon's Souls you bought, (if you bought the deluxe) they're discontinued and selling for above $100 on ebay right now.

That's pretty amazing considering it's the same game with a guidebook and a case. Or am I missing something in my deluxe version?

Bummer about the Amazon deal. I was finally going to bite on Smash Bros, but it's not included.

Re: Amazon Video Game Deal Thread .

FYI, if you are like me and not really looking for $80 worth of games right now (I'm just interested in Lego Rock Band which isn't part of the sale) there are/were some good deals on trade-ins. Here's what I ended up doing:
  • Amazon Trade-In value of Midnight Club: LA Complete = $22 (Price has gone down to $10 now, unfortunately)
  • Filled out trade-in form for 3 copies of the game, waited for confirmation email to be sure = $66 in Amazon credit
  • Bought 3 copies of Midnight Club: LA Complete from Amazon using Prime = $83.97 shipped
  • Will send those 3 new copies back in to fulfill my trade.

So, "buying" $106 in Amazon credit ($66 trade in credit + $40 bonus) cost me $83.97. I end up coming out ahead $22.03.

Hopefully the ECA codes will be working when I want some additional games :) Worth a shot if there still some games with fairly high trade-in values.

Ok, I just PM'd Fallout 3 GOTY at Best Buy yesterday using the target.com ad (which it looks like is dead today, so good thing I got in on it when I did), and I told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore games anytime soon (esp. with Lego Rock Band already on preorder), but this was just too good to pass up.

I just got a $25 reward from my Amazon Rewards Credit Card in the mail 2 days ago, so I picked up Uncharted 1 and Demon's Souls. Spending 58.98 for the 2 games plus a $40 credit was just too good to pass up.

Now I just have to figure out how to hide the fact that I just spent a hundred bucks on 3 new games from my wife. ;)

Well, it's officially discontinued and it won't be made anymore. But the more expensive ones (one went for $150 recently, another for $180 I think) are sealed and have the pre-order artbook and soundtrack bonus.

You know, that's not a bad deal, but I can't think of what I would use the $40 on.

Yeah, I was really frustrated that week because I kept calling TRU during their sale, and they never have the games I want when they run this promotion. No Demon Souls or Fallout GOTY so I was like, screw it, I'll pay full price elsewhere.

I'm in. Picked up Borderlands for the 360 and Uncharted (all the talk around the sequel has made me want to play this). I'll use the $40 credit on New Super Mario Bros. Wii. All three consoles will be getting attention from me again!
