Canceled my order at gamestop, Best buy has it with a ten dollar gift card, and apparently the bundle, is not an actual bundle...

I'm not sure if this was posted before, let alone what this is. But I want it!

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

I got Sam & Max in the mail from Gamefly today. I think I've been wandering around for an hour and gotten nowhere. My adventure game brain isn't quite as sharp as it used to be. Pretty sad considering I'm stuck at the very beginning.

Yeah, I couldn't get it to work worth a damn. Much more fun and responsive to just dodge and duck with the analog stick (or, presumably, the D-pad).
Anyone planning on picking up EA Sports Active?
Yup. I had enough credit at Costco to cover the whole cost, so I picked it up today. Seems much more structured and intense than Wii Fit. As others have said, Wii Fit takes a very "Eastern" approach to fitness, whereas EA Sports Active definitely takes the Western approach. I think the structure of the 30-day regimen will make it easier for me to stick with it. Or at least I hope so.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

I had something weird happen with my kid's Wii last night (and yes...I know how funny that sounds) and wanted to see if anyone has had this issue.

We were going to play a rousing game of co-op Ben 10 last night when the Wii would not turn on. No light at all on the front power switch. I unplugged it from the power brick, plugged it back in and then around other various plugs and got nothing. I thought I had a dead Wii (we just bought the thing back at x-mas) and then decided to try to hook it up to my Wii power brick downstairs (yes I have two Wiis...long story).

Anyway, the thing's light turns on and powers up fine. So then I figure I have a dead power brick but then I hook it back up to the old power brick, back in the same old plug and it powers up fine after this.

Any ideas why it would do this? Has this happened to anyone else? Any idea if the problem is maybe with the power brick or the console?

It happens to me when there is a power surge. Most likely its built in protection within the power pack. And yes I am using a surge protector.

You have to unplug the power pack from the wall AND the Wii. Let it set for about 5 min. plug everything back in and its good to go.

Kotaku

If this truly comes in at $20, it may be worth a purchase.

Cool. Thanks for letting me know. I have mine in a surge protector as well. Just thought it was strange and wanted to make sure I didn't need to call Nintendo.

And nice...but sad try Goldberg.

Next Wii question of the day: I know nothing...I mean nothing about Wii online stuff regarding friends. I know you have their Mii channel where you can mix your friend's Miis or something like that. Do you also get to see what your friends are playing or leaderboards like Live?

I wouldn't mind adding some people from here but I have yet to see exactly how to send a friend request. When you are used to Live, the online Wii stuff is like walking around blindfolded in a dark room.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

I love that it looks like a mini N64.

Spiderbite - there are no friend requests. Say you want to add me as a friend, you input me(code below) into your address book. For us to be friends though I have to do the same thing with your code. Then we magically become friends within minutes.

As for leaderboards and the like, someone else more knowledgeable will have to chime in.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

If you were jealous of Japan's New Play Control releases of Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, don't be. Nintendo of America just announced plans to release all three (non-pinball) Metroid Prime games on a single Wii disc as Metroid Prime Trilogy. The press release says that it was developed by "Retro Studios and Nintendo." Did Retro itself work on the refit before leaving Nintendo, or does the Retro credit apply only to the original games?

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 will be enhanced with a widescreen mode and the pointer-based Wii controls from the Japanese re-releases. Metroid Prime 3 won't be, because it was already a Wii game and already has them. The collection will feature a "new unlockables system" that allows access to bonus artwork and other rewards based on accomplishments in all three games -- Corruption's "token" system applied to the whole series.

Trilogy will be out in North America on August 24 for $50.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

Having missed the previous generation, this will be my first exposure to the first two Metroid Primes, and I am definitely looking forward to it. I got stuck in Metroid Prime 3 a while back and put the game down. I keep meaning to go back to it, but I never get around to doing so. I think now, I'll just wait for the trilogy and play the whole thing through. I'm in the process of doing that with Halo and I had a lot of fun playing all three one right after the other.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

Managed to rent a copy of Boom Blox Bash Party and played it for a couple hours last night with some friends. As a multiplayer game, it is far more fun than the first. There are a bunch of new modes that are a blast.

I might have to pick it up on the cheap later.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the GH thread, but figured it'd be easier to follow here for now...

I've got both Guitar Hero 3 and World Tour (guitar only bundle) for the Wii. Was considering adding drums, as well. (currently have Rock Band 1 drums for the PS2 - I don't assume I can use these with the Wii, but have never tried) I noticed a bunch of GH Wii drumkits on eBay for ~$40, some even including mics. Anything I should be aware of before jumping on one of these?

Some positive impressions of 'The Conduit' from MTV Multiplayer:

“The Conduit” isn’t just the closest anyone has come to delivering a solid FPS experience on Nintendo’s Wii. It simply is one.

Anyone have experience with the Nyko Wing controller? Is it better than the normal Classic controller? Is it worth the price difference? Thanks
