Here are some hands-on impressions for The Conduit:

Kotaku:
the game looks great, sporting draw-distances, bump-mapping, lighting, shadowing and particle effects that wouldn’t look out of place on the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360.

61 Frames Per Second
:
The Conduit is the best-looking three-dimensional game I’ve seen running on Nintendo’s hardware, second only to the shimmering gloss of Super Mario Galaxy.

Re-releasing these old Gamecube games is genius, particularly from a business standpoint. Gamecube was in 3rd place, last generation. Hardly anyone played these games. Now with a minimal amount of reprogramming, they have new Wii titles ready to go. I'm surprised more 3rd party publishers aren't doing this.

My guess would be that probably 90% of the titles released the first year of the Wii existence were near finished Gamecube titles that were quickly ported to the Wii, including many of the first party titles.

True. I guess they saw how well they did re-releasing the Gamecube with a minimal amount of re-engineering so it was inevitable the games would follow.

I agree. However, i was a big fan of the Cube and already played these games so it does nothing to help my gaming dry spell on the Cube.

If that game has RE4-like controls, I'm gonna need a towel. I'd gladly give up glossy graphics for those controls.

Anxiously awaiting a review...and taking DS off of my wishlist for now.

That's because it was just announced yesterday. But it seems Dead Space is just the beginning of EA's shift toward making the Wii its main system.

Check out this IGN article:

EA Shift Focus to Wii

Great news for Wii owners!

Things are looking up. The new House of the Dead and Tenchu both get 8s from IGN, Madworld is on the way and now more EA support. Good news indeed.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

This is probably a YMMV, but my local Toys R Us had the Nintendo brand Wii component cables on clearance for $9.99. I picked up the last one at my store (Woodbridge, VA).

So with WiiMotion+ on the way, I wonder if EA is going to incorporate it into BoomBlox 2.

Saw a video for the Overlord prequel from the NY Comic-Con today and I really think that'll be the next Wii game I play. I love the 360 game and I can't wait to play more.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

I'm subscribed to GoNintendo's RSS feed and lately I've been seeing entries like:

"Mario Tennis 'New Play Control' Screens"
"Pikmin 'New Play Control' Screens"
"Metroid Prime 'New Play Control' Screens"

Now I get they're a Nintendo blog and I guess this is technically news, but I just find it ridiculous to make a fuss about screens from old games that have new controls that are not in any way reflected in the screen shots.

That's all, carry on.

Whenever Wii Sports Resort comes out. I think it was rumored for May. IIRC the only games that could take advantage of it are ones that are programmed for it from day one.

Crazy new footage from MadWorld:

MadWorld video (IGN.com)

Also from the accompanying article:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/954/954254p1.html
we're several levels in now and game completely delivers. If the addictive balance of fun, bloody fights and surprisingly compelling narrative continues, Platinum Games and SEGA will have a Wii Game of the Year contender on their hands.

Max-V Guitar.

The above guitar is on sale at Best Buy for $19.99 through Saturday. Is it a good one to have or should I wait until Guitar Hero: Metallica to pick that up and a guitar?

I got Wii Fit a few weeks ago at Target and I think it's pretty unique, though I do geet peeved when it tells me I gained a pound and when my Wii Fit age is higher than my actual age.

I thought it was supposed to be for all games? That sucks they cant find a way to get it to work for past games. It sounded like wiimotion + would make old games more responsive
