I think that's always been the case here with racing games. Well at least the more "sim-ish" ones.

The latest preview at GameSpot is quite underwhelming at least to me since i don't have a PS3 and would be willing to get one if it lives up even close to the hype.

I saw that one too, and it sucked mainly by the catatonic-like commentary and the fact that the guy used a car that he transferred from the PSP version

Also, the lack of interest here has to do more with the fact that this site is overrun with 360 fanboys

My copy just shipped from New Egg. I might get it on launch day after all.

I don't get why there's no interior view for non-premium cars. I understand that it would be difficult to model every car, but why not include a "generic" interior for those cars instead of disabling the view entirely?

This is a nitpick, but I don't like how in the interface, you move a cursor around the selections. It makes you feel like you should be navigating it with a mouse. I didn't like that on the old PS Store.

Other than that, it looks great! And yes, Xbox 360-heavy forum + sim racer + long-delayed game = not much interest here.

I haven't gotten shipping notice but just got notice that they charged my Credit Card so I can assume it'll be shipped shortly. I got New Vegas on launch day form NewEgg so here's hoping. Even if I don't get it until Friday since I got it for $47.99 it'll be totally worth the wait.

Now, I need to hunt down a deal on a Driving Force GT. I missed the Amazon one a few weeks back (I wasn't sure I wanted a wheel) but now I definitely want it. Just would love to beat the $130 asking price.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

I'm pretty pumped for this game, even with all the insane delays. Unfortunately I won't be able to play it much on Wednesday, since I'm going to be doing some work on my real car for at least the better part of the day (installing SS Brakelines and replacing the brake fluid). Hopefully that night I'll get to spend some time with my virtual car.

Collector's Edition Unboxing:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x23qxzlUseo?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/x23qxzlUseo?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

It really looks nice, though the model is smaller than I imagined. I didn't realize that guide was actually a full book. If money wasn't an object....

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

What's the final tally of the tracks available in the game?

Like I said, my main concern is that they're holding back close to 40 completed tracks for DLC.
For me, the # tracks is much more important and crucial when it comes to buying a racing game than the # of cars.

My order hasn't even shipped yet from Amazon and I have release day delivery. Is it overnight service?

From GTPlanet. Sounds like plenty to me even excluding the reverse/weather differences.

Looks like about 25 tracks - a far cry form the 60+ that were initially promised.

Yeah, how many did Forza 3 have on disc? I just want Sebring. I'll have to stick with Forza for practicing/memorization.

Same here. The barcode isn't even slashed which means I might be able to get rid of it easier.

Actually, it's not dumb. It was placed that way so the reviewers had enough time to experience the online segment of the game, as the servers just went online today.

I guess it must be good, cause Mok hasn't said anything! Or he's still installing.

I have enjoyed it so far, it looks pretty amazing. It's funny it took over a hour to install, but it still installs whenever I load up a new track. I think I'm going to need a larger hard drive with all this installing.

So they were right that you still have to install stuff even after the initial 6.8 GB?

At first it installed about 8 GB (which is optional), and now it keeps installing more over time. Every time I hit a new track I haven't played it will install the first time I launch it.

If you're still looking, you're in luck. The Driving Force GT Wheel is now $99.99 at Amazon.
