Wow, didn't expect it so soon (we'll see if it actually DOES come out though). Picked up my wheel last week when BB had it on sale and just ordered a Gamepod cockpit. Hopefully it arrives before the game comes out. Can't wait to play this.

That soon? Unless they mean 2011, I find it hard to believe.

What is a good racing wheel to get? (PS3) I have one for the PC.. but would like to get a reliable one with force feedback and shifters that are attached to the wheel. I don't want to go overboard with cost, so maybe 100$ would be my limit.

Sounds like the Logitech Driving Force GT is right up your alley.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

That one's awesome, but it's more than $100. Currently it's $130 on Amazon (MSRP $149.99). I just have the little Logitech Driving Force Wireless Wheel. No pedals, but fits comfortably on your lap, 900 degree rotation, force feedback. Works pretty well if you don't need pedals and a stick shift. Takes up less space. Currently $58 at Amazon (MSRP $99.99). It ain't the fanciest, but I like it.
And remember that the GT wheel isn't wireless to the PS3, so that's a factor. This wheel is wireless to the PS3, but you still have to plug it into an electrical outlet if you want force feedback (and yes, you do).

It's over a$100 now, but I'm sure you can find it for $99 if you look around. Best Buy just had it for that price last week, wouldn't be surprised if they put it on sale again the week the game actually does come out.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

That list is pretty disappointing. Way too many cars missing that should be included. Also no Porsche's, which I heard is because of a exclusivity deal with EA that will be ending soon. Not very many '09 or '10 models, and not a single '11. I guess the car list would be more impressive if the game hadn't been delayed for years. Also way too many variations on a single car.

Track list isn't too impressive either, no Road Atlanta or Sebring.

Oh well, hopefully everything else about this game is better than these lists.

I'll be willing to bet there will be many more cars added as DLC.

How does that even work? Playing a driving game with a wheel, but no pedals.

You have paddles behind the wheel that are your gas and brakes. You also have smaller thumb tabs on the wheel that can be your shifters.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

That Driving force GT looks awesome! At 130 (100 after mail in rebate, but I'd have to order it today) its a bit more than i want to pay.. but all things considering I would probably jump at it.

Thanks

Yeah with the rebate it's right in your price range. If you don't want to deal with a rebate you can find it on ebay or some other places around the $100 price tag. It's also got the real time adjustment dial for things like your F/R 4WD balance, traction control adjustment, and brake balance which no other wheel has since this one was designed from the ground up with Gran Turismo in mind. I'm thinking of getting one but the problem is I'd need to order one of those stands to use it with so when you combine the cost and space it'll take up, I just don't think I can justify it.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

I will probably get the GT specific wheel, but does anyone make a good stand that works for someone playing from his couch?

Who's ordered the collectors box? Trying to decide if the extra $40 is worth it for the extra stuff.
