Just curious can you use any HDMI cable when hooking up a PS3 to an HDTV?

It's not a rare thing.
Well, I watched a couple episodes of Lost on BD last night. No issues. I'm chalking it up to the Rocky disc for now. Hopefully it won't die on me. I'm already on my 3rd 360. I think that is enough console failures for one generation.

I've had a couple perfect looking blu-ray discs and one splotchy looking discs not play in my PS3. But I've watched maybe 100 others without a problem. I would guess your problem is isolated.

Don't listen to him. I was in Best Buy the other day and the sales guy let me in a little known secret: the Monster HDMI cables are worth the extra dough. Don't let monoprice fool you with their rock bottom prices.

I don't know if you are just kidding or not, but just in case you aren't, you might want to check this thread out. http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=522669

The local Blockbuster/GameRush had a board up for upcoming games, including a Resident Evil for the PS3 supposedly coming out this month. Is this a compilation game or something? Or are they just confused?

Probably confused. I haven't heard anything at all about any compilation pack, and RE5 doesn't come out until 2009.

Questions about the PS3 remote:

1. Does anyone else's remote drain batteries pretty quickly? I've had to replace the batteries three times already, and I don't use it all that much.

2. This may be more of a blu-ray question, but it seems like most blu-ray movies I've put in, I've had to fast forward/skip through the previews, I can't just press the menu button (either one) to get to the menu. Are my buttons working correctly?

2. Some movies do that. Annoying as hell. Chapter skip or FF should work though

No battery issues for me. I'm still on my first set and it's been 5 months now.

Ah, ok, I thought they did away with the non-skippable previews in the dvd-era. ah well. We watched 3:10 to Yuma on Blu Ray the other day, and there must have been 7 to 10 unskippable previews.

A theory on the battery issue: Since it's a bluetooth device, maybe it's not turning itself off after a period of inactivity?

Acutally, does the PS3 remote turn off at all? I know when I first got my PS3, I ran down my controller battery pretty quickly because I didn't realize I had to turn it off.

If you're watching movies, hit the ps button to get the option of turning off the controller while watching movies. If you don't, the controller will stay on.

Is there a way to turn off the PS3 using the controller or the remote?

Hold down the PS button for 2-3 seconds and you'll get an on-screen option to shut down the console.

Yup, you hold the PS button down and select "Turn off System".

Wait, does this go for the remote too? It doesn't go into some sort of sleep mode after a while?

I've had the same batteries in my remote since I got it back in September. I use it just like a regular remote. I haven't even thought of turning it off. It might be possible, but based on my experience, you shouldn't have to.

Is your remote the official Sony remote or a 3rd party product?

I've had the same batteries in the remote since I got it and I got it when it first came out over a year ago.
