Lair was a great game. The only negative were the controls. The game is Rogue Squadron with dragons. Plain and simple, if you like the RS series than Lair is right up your alley.

Looks like there will be one with the LE MGS4 bundle, but I highly doubt they'll sell it standalone. USA doesn't have the white DS, do we?

Do you think those control issues would be fixed with analog control?

Has there been a price drop on the 705 yet? Or have the newer models not been released yet?

Yes. They are removing motion control in favor of analog. Motion is where the problem lies.

I gave it a chance and got the hang of it. The controls weren't perfect but if you are patient the game is doable. Controls aside I thought it was a pretty solid game. Great graphics, solid story, and the missions are ripped right out of the RS series.

With them patching it to enable analog, there is no reason not to pick it up for around $20. With analog support, I'd even say it'd be worth it for $30.

At the end of the trailer, it states that gameplay footage will be shown for the first time on that day (i.e. World Exclusive Gameplay Premiere).

I just saw that fan video before work and gave it a short. I have a newer system so I am sure it didn't do much but I am going to make sure I do it on a regular basis just to keep it running smoothly.

So I picked up GRAW 2 for the PS3 for 20$ today at BB. Is it the same/better than the 360 version?

AFAIK, only Oblivion has come close to scoring on the level of the 360 version. Scratch that, Burnout is on the level as well.

Picked up Tiger Woods 08 and was surprised how gimped your created character is to start. I know you had to level up your skills in previous games, but I don't remember the character being this bad in the past. Of course then I went into the store and found out that EA is selling max stats for your character for $2.50 and suddenly I understand.

No thanks EA. I will limp through for awhile and level myself up. I really don't like the idea of selling things like stats especially when it seems like they went out of their way to make the leveling up process more frustrating than previous games.

Oh well, they at least give you a free extra course so I guess that makes up for it a bit. Anyway, it is a good game though the analog shots seem a bit harder. This game has been slammed over the years for being too easy so that is probably a good thing. Definitely like the idea of extra courses as DLC. That is DLC I can get behind. (Of course knowing EA those courses are probably on the disc anyway)

When will Heavenly Sword finally get a price drop? I'm dying to play it but I can't bring myself to pay $60 for a 5 hour game.

Okay so when did the 80gb get discontinued? I went to finally go buy one this weekend. The Best Buy employee told a bundle pack with the 80gb is being re-released when MGS4 comes? Is this valid? I don't want the 40gb so I want to know if a bigger/better model will coming out at all? What is the difference between the 40gb and the 80gb besides ps2 backwards compatability?

The 80GB was discontinued in January of this year. There is a new 80GB Metal Gear bundle coming out, but no firm US date/price has been announced. When the MGS bundle was first 'hinted' at they said it would be just a straight 80GB unit so it would include backwards compatibility via software, but lately I've heard it will be based on the 40GB hardware, with a larger drive so no backwards compatibility with PS2 titles at all.

The 40GB lost 2 USB ports, and the memory card readers as well.

Why is Sony such a pain in the ass? Why would they drop ps2 compatability?

It's saves them a couple of dollars per unit.

Alright, I've gone and done it. I'm drinking the PS3 koolaid. Just picked up a 40GB PS3, BD remote, extra controller, SW Legos Saga, Burnout Paradise, UT3, and The 5th Element (Remastered version) Blu Ray. I'm an ooold console guy (still rock my 2600, NES, PS, and N64) so this new fangled contraption seems a bit much for me, but I'll hang in there. I just hope my PC gaming won't suffer too much. Say, PS1 Xena: Warrior Princess looks pretty good on this thing, surprisingly good at 61"!

Oh yeah, I've already DL'd demos for Resistance and Blazin' Angels 2 (which stole 2 hours of my evening last night), pretty neat!

You picked 3 really good games to start with. Remember that you can use keyboard and mouse with UT3 if you prefer the PC style control.

Yep, that's what the helpful Target sales drone told me (UT3 at target, $49.95 with temp price reduction, YMMV). I got my ass handed to me using the controller (and I've been a UT junkie on PC since original Unreal), so I'll have to set up a TV tray and drag over a spare kbd and mouse, chuckle.

I have to take back what I said. According to 1up the only thing that is changing control to analog is direction... up, down, left, right. Everything else is still Sixaxis based. Direction was never a problem for me, it was the other motion controls, boost and the 180 degree turns that sucked. Looks like those will still be an issue, so buyer beware. How hard is it to map those two functions to one of the 12 buttons (including d-pad) on the controller? Oh well, looks like Lair remains broken.

Has anybody played the PS1 "Final Fantasy Chronicles" on their 60GB PS3? I'd really like to replay FFIV, but a backwards compatibility check says that "throughout gameplay of the Final Fantasy IV Disc, various graphics randomly drop out and/or flicker." I'm wondering if this is a major problem that detracts from playing, or if it's something that's not very noticeable.
