Any non PS3 owners jealous of that new tower defense game on PSN? After watching the 1UP show, I feel like I'd rather play that over almost anything on XBL.

Pixel Junk Monsters actually makes some improvements over Desktop Tower Defense since it has a user controlled character that has to move around to collect pickups and start construction of the towers. That makes it a bit more of a traditional game since you're not just using your mouse cursor to click around the screen. It's a lot of fun if you enjoy the genre.

That being said, I think the XBLA has a lot of great games too. Poker Smash looks like it'll be a lot of fun, and Ikaruga and Castle Crashers should be great.

It's good, but not better than a vast number of the XBLA games, of course rabid fans of Tower Defense would think otherwise.

The one thing that pisses me off about the PSN Store other than the horrendous speeds and terrible interface is the fact very few originals have demos.

That would be me . Anyway, I don't own a PS3, but this is meant to be a well made version of TD.

At very least, it seems like another hole in the XBLA library that needs to be filled. Not saying that PSN doesn't need more titles (of course it does!) but more variety is always a good thing.

What hole would this be filling? What genre does this correspond to?

Apparently a sub-genre called "tower defense".

Was that where Desktop Tower Defense originally started? I used to play that Warcraft 3 mod a lot, along with Defense of the Ancients of course.

Desktop was inspired by War3, but i'm not sure where the first tower defense type game came from.

Both of these are coming up as "does not exist" for me.

And what happened to the "add text" option when sending friend requests? I swear it used to be there, but it isn't on the 360 or on the PC. Still has the "add voice" on the 360....

That's where I first got addicted to the "sub-genre" but playing games on my pc is no longer so convenient or desirable for me. But yeah, 8 player LAN TD War3 was an absolute blast back in the day.

Btw, I'm pretty sure this concept was first introduced to the world at large as a War 3 mod. Over time there were tons of iterations of this, but I must admit, I haven't checked out the scene in at least 3 years.

Would love Pixel Junk Monsters on XBLA.

I don't have a PS3 but I thought that PSN didn't usually have demos. You could watch the 1UP show from 2 weeks back.

I take it that there is no way to have a signature link in our signatures to our gamertag at xbox.com? That would make it easier for adding friends and the like.

I mentioned before how, because of my gamertag of Trevor, I seem to get a lot of random friend requests. I finally went thru my 100+ friends list and weeded out the people who weren't known to me or on the dvdtalk gamertag list. I went down to 24 friends. This tells me two things.

1 - I'm not as popular here as I thought.
2 - There are a lot of stupid gamers who assume that "Trevor" on xbox live must be the Trevor they know.

I'd probably change it if I hadn't had it since the beta. I'm just going to be more careful in accepting invites from now on. Just added you soonerdoc.

I know, I know, my sig is a little large. I just like the convenience of accessing the posts I update regularly from wherever I may be, and to have the threads I maintain at easy access for those that care. Maybe I'll size=1 it to make it a little less obtrusive.

Edit to add: There, a little better hopefully.

I'm pretty sure this link will do what you want: http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/p...amerTag=Trevor

The only caveat is that the person clicking probably has to be signed into their Live account to see your stuff and/or add you. But for all intents, that's the best you can do.

Trevor, that's a pretty neat trick, except that it shows that the last game you played was ..... YARIS. Oh, the shame!

Seriously, I've gotta figure out how to do that with my gamertag.
