The $30-35 per year is for much more than playing demos. I'd pay $100 a year, and I rarely play demos, or multi-player games. The total package of gold membership is an incredible value.

Also, while i'm on-line, it's not like i'm browsing the demo all the times (or time? i'm not sure, please explain), i check other stuffs. At this point of time (correct usage i believe), i just want to know how long it takes the demo to be available for silver members (nobody here cares, since you guys/gals are all gold), but i care, because i'm into the little things...
- You can input the codes on xbox.com if you don't want to do it on the console. It couldn't be any simpler. Take a minute to go there and copy/paste one of the codes above. Bamm. Live long enough to get some demos you want.
- demos are a week apart between Silver & Gold.
- you could go to TRU and get a year of Live, a $40 camera, $2 in marketplace points, a new headset, Uno and Robotron for $40. All that for $10 less than the SRP of Live, but I guess complaining is easier than finding a deal.

What are the details on that? I just got an Elite (Sort of - it hasn't actually arrived yet) and I could use a Live subscription.

The details seem to be all there. TRU is Toys R Us. It is YMMV of course, as some stores may be out of stock of the live vision kit.

Check this thread for more details. I'd be all over it, but the closet Toys R Us store is a 40 min drive for me and i'm in the middle of a snowstorm right now.

Oh, thanks. I'm obviously new to the 360, so I didn't know there was a kit like that. I probably would have ended up at the checkout counter with armloads of stuff expecting it to ring up for $40.

It's called the Xbox Live Vision Bundle and it comes with everything I mentioned. It retails for $80 but they are on clearance/sale(?) for $40. So if you are vaguely interested I would check it out sooner than later. As usual, it is YMMV so I can't be held responsible if your TRU is out of stock.

got your point and i understand that... it's not the value in question and i'm not arguing that. Sigh, i'm just saying, i rather not pay and wait for few weeks for the demo, that's all to it. Of course total package is well worth $50, i agree with that 100%. At $30, it's a steal... Anyhow, no matter how you look at it, it's not worth it just for demo, is it? And that's what's in discussion (or end of discussion).

Why are you guys thinking that paying the subscription fee and allowing you to DL demo is a bonus? It's not! The only bonus is that you're allowed to DL before the silver members.

Oyi, why didn't you tell me that earlier... i didn't know that trick (i'm still new to X360 you know). I heard about the camera deal, but couldn't find any at TRU

i'm sorry, but i don't see the part where you can c/p the codes for the 48 hours... under account management?

Well you said you had some other codes laying around. You still have to type them in but it's far easier on xbox.com than on the 360.

On that note, I got the chatpad for Christmas and it works great for inputting codes.

Got a USB keyboard? Plug it into the 360 and use that to type. "Redeem Code" on the XBLM blade (the leftmost one).

To input codes over the internet:

Go to:
  • My Xbox
  • Manage Profile (5th option down)
  • Redeem Prepaid Code (5th option down)

Any idea how many months you can stack (assuming buying 12 month cards). My gold currently expires in May but i just got a 12 month card in one of the camera bundles....

I was considering entering it now but didn't know if there was a max of 14 months or something kooky like that.

In years past, I'm pretty sure you could only be "prepaid" for 23 months max. You had to be in your current term to put in a new code.

But I haven't done it that way since the original xbox days.

You can go years out now. But you're right in the old Xbox days, you could only go one year in advance.

Can one change their gametag avatar to a personal one? Like if I made a pic, can I use it as my avatar? Is there anyway to do this?

Using the XB camera you can capture it - but only your friends will be able to see the custom pic.

You can also use a custom pic for your Blade background. (Thanks Major Nelson)

I have Bettie Page on mine.

Check FYE too...some of the stores are clearancing out their game stuff. Mine is at 50% off games and accessories. I got a 3-month Gold card and a 1600 MSPoint card for 10.00 each. They had the Live Vision Gold pack, tagged 79.99, but assuming that would ring up as "accessories" and not "hardware", that brings it to 40 bucks which is pretty good. (They had another 1600 point card that for some reason was marked 29.99 originally. I didn't get that one.)
