Wow! Looks like they're back to making announcements again, which is awesome stuff! I've only heard Number of the Beast, so it looks like I've got a couple songs to go pick up and listen to today.

I might be passing on my first RB DLC. I can't stand "Number of the Beast" on GH3. If the RB version is anything like it, it'll have to go unpurchased .

I'm horrible with song titles usually, so I didn't know what that was when I first read it, but after you said that I looked it up on SeeqPod and it's one of my favorite songs also. Awesome!

It's one of those songs that I classify as "...oh it's THAT song!"

I'll get it.

Man I forgot how different Weiland looks these days (tho 26/27 to 40 is a big jump), the retarded amount of drugs definitely took its toll.

A cover of Number of the Beast? Have Harmonix been locked out of the masters for Maiden because GHIII used them or something? I love playing Number of the Beast in GHIII, and I would love to the bass, drums, and vocals, but a cover...blech.

I've never understood the intense dislike of covers.

I mean, you are "covering" something of the song every time you play it, and if you have a singer it's even less of an issue.

For example, people were bagging on the cover of "Hard to Handle". Well I downloaded it anyway, and we had some friends over Saturday night and that song was by far the highlight of the evening. I don't even notice the fact it's a cover.

I guess it just doesn't bother me.

Looks like it is just STP for me outta that bunch. Never have understood the critical acclaim of The Hives...and Iron Maiden...yuck.

Draven, covers don't bother me either as long as they are well done (at least covers for Rock Band). So far, the covers on Rock Band have been well done (at least the ones I wanted). I do agree that they should be a little less in price than a master but if they sound almost exact I am not really going to complain too much.

Now covers in the real music industry get on my nerves to no end but that is a completely different topic.

Here's my explanation:

In theory, you generally do not need the multi tracks to do guitar charts. The guitar is usually mixed up high on top of everything else, and you could just make the chart off the recorded versions of the song. But for Rock Band, to record all the different pieces to the song...you need the multis because you have to record the drum parts and the bass parts and the vox as well. And they just might not be laying around Steve Harris' basement anymore.

That's my theory for the covers anyways.

I'll definitely get the STP song - they were my favorite band for a good portion of the 90s.

I can't wait to play Number of the Beast on drums. Singing it should also be fun and challenging. I am also kind of curious to see how the guitar chart differs from the GH3 one. The solos should be more challenging for me without the forgiving timing window of GH3 and without Hyperspeed, which I always used for GH2, GH80's & GH3.

The STP song isn't bad...I'll enjoy it, singing especially.

Thanks to RichC2 for the song links...I now know to avoid that Hives song like the plague. That was just so, so, so bad. Might've been tolerable without the vocals.

I agree, I've never had a problem with the covers. I don't hear the vocals anyway and I'm too focused on what my band is doing, to listen and nitpick the game's cover choices.

So that's what it's called (Interstate Love Song). I'll definitely be picking that up.

Interstate Love Song is a no brainer for me...I was big into STP back in the day. I love the Hives but I'm not sure if I'll spring for Die Alright... good song but singing it will be a bit tough (lots of words to remember...I suck when I'm 'reading' lyrics off the screen) and it's a pretty short song... Skipping Maiden for sure, hate that song in GHIII. If nothing good comes out next week, I'll probably grab the Hives though.

Sweet, more Maiden, although it'd be nice if they'd stop duplicating songs from GH3....still, I have tons of fun with the vocals & drums from Run To The Hills, so getting those plus a "new" guitar chart for Beast is a huge plus...I'll grab that STP track as well...

Looking forward to more Maiden, even if a cover. I'm not minding the covers as much as I thought I would, though I would certainly prefer if everything was original.
Re: the OXM content--exclusive to OXM, or the same tracks that you can buy on Marketplace? If the latter, might be worth picking up the mag at a newsstand (my free sub ran out).

Has anyone received a replacement guitar that is really good? I have a feeling I'm having some strum problems but chalked it up to being drunk off my ass on Saturday. I played today for a bit (sober) and something just doesn't seem right.

My wife got me GHIII wired (I think only available at Walmart) and we have no problems with that, but I really like the frets & shape of the RB guitar - it just feels more comfortable. I just don't know if it's truly broken or not. If it isn't, and that's just the way it is, will I be charged or run into trouble for trying to get it replaced?

BTW, when GHII came out for the 360 I thought it sounded like the dumbest thing ever. I was so wrong, we now have GH2, GH3, and Rock Band. I sucked at all of them initially, but have pretty much done well on medium on all of them and am trying to deal with the fact that I am not Antonio Alfonseca (google it, non-baseball fans ) and am tip-toeing into hard.

My replacement guitar strums worse than my original, and the fret buttons "click" louder. I'm sending it back and I guess dealing with my original one.

I don't mind covers in "real" music as long as the covering artist has a large enough discography on his own, and I usually like when they add their personal twist to the song. And a cover now and then from a practiced artist is one thing. One of my favorite albums is Bryan Ferry "These Foolish Things", all covers. The other option is when they're all covers, but they make them their own, like Hayseed Dixie (not that I'm a huge fan, but they're not just a "cover band".)

I played a couple songs with my Strat tonight, hadn't used it for over a month...damn, I do not like it. I'd send it in if I knew the replacement would work better, but it sounds like that's definitely no sure thing. I missed probably 10-15 notes per song that I would normally hit, simply because the strum bar didn't respond.

RE: Band World Tour...75% of the time when I play BWT, it's alone, since I really have no friends who play games. Only time I play with somebody is when my brother's around. So obviously when I'm playing alone, I sing and play guitar or bass. I can't sing worth a damn, can pass probably 1/2 the songs on medium, easy is obviously eeeeeeaaaasy.

The question: is there any reasoning behind what songs/set lists are playable on easy or medium? It seems most of the smallest venues you can play everything on easy, and most of the medium and large venues have medium difficulty as the minimum. But then some set lists or songs at a large venue can be played on easy, and some only on hard or higher...is there any reasoning behind this? Seems completely random.

They (Harmonix) had mentioned a while back the possibility of patching the game to allow BWT online - any news on this? Is it still a possibility? I sure hope so. I can beat maybe half the songs on hard guitar, but can't sing on hard, so I'm SOL for getting more fans.

Any recommendations for songs that I might be able to fight my way through singing on hard? I just barely managed to get by Blitzkrieg Bop, but In Bloom (on the lowest singing tier, go figure) kicked my ass. How are the Black Sabbath songs singing on hard? They seemed pretty easy on medium...not sure if I can beat them on hard bass or guitar though.

Thats funny cuz I feel the same exact way about covers. I also had a bunch of people over Saturday and "Hard to Handle" was the song that got the biggest reaction.

I absolutely LOVE STP's "Interstate Love Song" so I'll be buying that.
