Has anyone else noticed some oddness when playing a slideshow of images (with music in the background) with the latest dashboard update? Many of the images appear to "shimmer"... but the shimmering is symmetrical, almost as if the visualizations from the music player are bleeding through.

To me LIVE is just as much a part of the 360 experience as owning the console. You have to have both.
Not picking on you but I just don't see the use of owning a 360 without having LIVE to complement it unless you are a little kid or a (really, really) old fart.

Well, I am 30, so that is pretty old.

I play occasionally to unwind, but don't have enough time to seriously devote to becoming an online gamer. There are plenty of good games like Oblivion and Bioshock that are perfect for people like me.

You guys might want to keep tabs on the clearance sale going on at Compusa. They currently had all xbox accessories 10% off, including gamer point cards. Not a great deal now but within the next few weeks they will be shutting their doors for good and the deal will probably get sweeter over the next couple of days.

I just tried the Burnout demo for about 20 minutes.
I liked the no-loading; I liked just driving around; I liked the instant-online thing (though I didn't actually try it), and of course it's a great looking game.
I didn't really like driving around trying to find races, and when the race did happen, I didn't like not really knowing where to go.
The only other Burnout game I've played was Takedown, and though I didn't like the loading, I did like the medals method of getting new races, and I liked that the races and racetracks were clearly delineated and offered variety. I might go ahead and pick up Revenge rather than waiting on Paradise.
I am Gold, but I got a deal on the live vision box. Gold and online MP definitely adds a lot to the system, but it helps if you have people you know ahead of time to play with. I'm not a hugely talented or competitive MP gamer, so for me, it's enough to jump on every now and then and play some Team Fortress or even Uno, but I may or may not renew when it's up next summer.

There's a glitch to beating RAAM if you're sick of trying to kill him off legit on Expert. He's a gigantic pain in the ass, especially by yourself.

I had a hard enough time trying to beat RAAM on the regular difficulty. I cannot imagine trying to do so on expert. Seems like it would be masochistic.

Is anyone apart of the Microsoft retail expert zone? For some reason I received a copy of Call of Duty 4 yesterday for the xbox 360. I have no idea why they sent me it. I'll probably call them later and see.
