Was in Target earlier today and noticed that they had the latest Tony Hawk game (the Limited Edition) on clearance for $29.30. The regular release was still $59.99.

I picked this up Friday because it's hard for me to resist clearance games. I am probably returning it because I don't really want it and it was an impulse buy.

Has anyone else noticed some oddness when playing a slideshow of images (with music in the background) with the latest dashboard update? Many of the images appear to "shimmer"... but the shimmering is symmetrical, almost as if the visualizations from the music player are bleeding through.

To me LIVE is just as much a part of the 360 experience as owning the console. You have to have both.

Not picking on you but I just don't see the use of owning a 360 without having LIVE to complement it unless you are a little kid or a (really, really) old fart.

Well, I am 30, so that is pretty old.

I play occasionally to unwind, but don't have enough time to seriously devote to becoming an online gamer. There are plenty of good games like Oblivion and Bioshock that are perfect for people like me.

You guys might want to keep tabs on the clearance sale going on at Compusa. They currently had all xbox accessories 10% off, including gamer point cards. Not a great deal now but within the next few weeks they will be shutting their doors for good and the deal will probably get sweeter over the next couple of days.

I just tried the Burnout demo for about 20 minutes.
I liked the no-loading; I liked just driving around; I liked the instant-online thing (though I didn't actually try it), and of course it's a great looking game.
I didn't really like driving around trying to find races, and when the race did happen, I didn't like not really knowing where to go.
The only other Burnout game I've played was Takedown, and though I didn't like the loading, I did like the medals method of getting new races, and I liked that the races and racetracks were clearly delineated and offered variety. I might go ahead and pick up Revenge rather than waiting on Paradise.

I am Gold, but I got a deal on the live vision box. Gold and online MP definitely adds a lot to the system, but it helps if you have people you know ahead of time to play with. I'm not a hugely talented or competitive MP gamer, so for me, it's enough to jump on every now and then and play some Team Fortress or even Uno, but I may or may not renew when it's up next summer.

Anyone want to help me beat Gears of War over Live? I'm at the last guy and can't beat his ass.

This is the part where I mastered the "active reload"! Notice the clue in the cut scene and don't use the sniper like I was doing for about 20 min. I then went back and replayed it and took him down on the first try.

Completed the game yesterday.

There's a glitch to beating RAAM if you're sick of trying to kill him off legit on Expert. He's a gigantic pain in the ass, especially by yourself.

Nope. Just plug it in (USB) and you're good to go. Last week I also tested it with my 15ft. USB extension and it worked just as well. The original length of cable is about 10ft.

I had a hard enough time trying to beat RAAM on the regular difficulty. I cannot imagine trying to do so on expert. Seems like it would be masochistic.

RAAM was easy....shoot the crap out of him until he is almost on top of you, then run across the stage...repeat...dead.

Is anyone apart of the Microsoft retail expert zone? For some reason I received a copy of Call of Duty 4 yesterday for the xbox 360. I have no idea why they sent me it. I'll probably call them later and see.

I am. You probably won a drawing they had. Often they have drawings for folks who completed a specific course during a specific time. They don't usually notify you except to send you the prize. I got notified when I won the 7ft tall Master Chief statue as they wanted to make sure I actually wanted it before they shipped it, but otherwise they just send the prize, I believe.

I've been waiting for some new rewards to show up. Its been a bit slow lately.
