I've been wanting to get Texas Hold 'Em, but don't care about Worms or Ultimate MK3.

Maybe I can sweet talk them into letting me have two $5 games instead--I'd like to get Geometry Wars and Zuma.

Probably not, but you never know.

Yup, they're single-use, game specific game cards. I've only seen them at Target. I'm glad a couple of you will be able to take advantage of this deal.

AFAIK there isn't a Zuma one. The only ones they sell are the ones that have already been mentioned.

Oh. I haven't seen a Zuma one, either. Someone over at CAG said he saw one, and I was just going off that. I wish Target had these on their website, so we could know what all ones are available. Doesn't seem to be much about them online at all.

I'm tempted to grab a couple of Worms cards in that Target deal, but I seem to recall the XBLA version being really lame, which is amazing considering the simplicity of the game. I'll check the demo out again before the sale I guess.

Actually it's one of the best strategic Worms out there. Probably the best since the original game. Key word in bold. The developers took out all the crazy-ass, luck-based weapons and brought the game back to its strategic roots.

Anyone know anything about the XBLA game out tonight? I know it's a shooter, but other than that don't know much else.

I posted a video on the previous page.

I was actually up early this morning and grabbed it myself. So far it does feel a bit average compared to other modern shooters. That's not a negative but it's just that I get to play A LOT of these games. It's still awesome and the anchoring system could potentially push it up more. It should be a real treat for fans who don't import on a regular basis like myself.. and the price is definitely sweet.

I'll pass on this week's game. Didn't really care for the demo.

Ditto. I was very unimpressedwith it. Following on the heels of two very nice recent shooters (Rez and Omega Five), this one was certainly a letdown. I wouldn't have bought it at 400 points, but 800 really seems a stretch for that one.

For those that are looking for a good deal on a bundle of games on disc, I noticed that the Popcap Collection, V1 is on sale for $15.99 at Costco (It's like $30 at Target). It contains Bejeweled 2 (also on Live Arcade Unplugged disc), Astropop (also bundled with the crappy Mad Catz contoller), Zuma (now dropped in price to 400 pts in the marketplace) and Feeding Frenzy (currently 800 points, sequel to be released soon). I'll post this in CAG as well, even though I dread hearing how everyone already has this or that game or read how this isn't really a deal...

The demo for Triggerheart Exelica is admittedly pretty bad, the first stage is too short and uninteresting.. plus you don't really get to explore the anchor system that much. But, either way, it's still definitely a game for the hardcore gamer (the real one), so I don't see it going well around these parts. Casual gamers will just mess themselves when they get to stage three and then complain about it on message boards that they wasted the amount of money they frivolously throw at McDonald's on a daily basis without incident. Or they'd just continue thirty times to beat it in twenty minutes with no regard to the scoring mechanics and then complain in the manner I mentioned above. And then they'd pay $60 for Lost: The Video Game. And enjoy it.

Holy shit, I am a bitter fuck.

You are just now figuring that out?

So how does one figure out if we are a hardcore gamer (the real one)? Was that included as part of the Hardcore Gamer manual?

I think you make some valid points there. For me at least, I really love side-scrolling shumps, but for as long as I remember, I have hated top down ones. They're just not my thing for some reason. Give me Gradius any day.

But ya, I consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer, at least in comparision to most other people (I think I'm fairly casual compare to other gamers, but hardcore compared to the general public). But ya, well said.

Ah, I'm the opposite. I'm not a fan of power-up shmups since they're generally more of a beat-and-move-on style. Bullet-hell shmups usually have great scoring mechanics that increase their replay value by tenfold.

Didn't see it mentioned, but there is another free set of chess pieces up on the marketplace. Nice to see they've given these out at no charge.

FYI, Sega just added Happy Tree Friends False Alarm to the March release schedule on their PR site.

Very impressive, Pixy. I am very jealous of your 1337 skilz.

I'm also surprised there were 5000 people in the world that thought that game was worth 800 points, actually.

So anyone know what comes out tomorrow? I remember seeing something about a third person shooter, but now can't recall it...

Tomorrow's game is Rocketmen: Axis of Evil. It's a dual-stick shooter similar to something like Smash TV. It's got 4-player co-op, which could be pretty cool if done right.

Supposedly it has some light RPG elements to it as well. It sounds pretty interesting, but the sound effects were pretty annoying in the video I watched.
