I had about 7k, which I spent about 1/2 on Rock Band DLC and Poker Smash. I just got another 1600 card though, so I should be back up to 5k something. I don't like keeping a huge stash on my account, but if I can get deals on the stuff, I know I'll use them eventually.

My point was that she shouldn't stockpile points without even knowing what she wanted to spend them on -- it's sort of like taking your tax rebate and converting it into Disney Dollars. So yeah, I think she made a mistake, but don't hold me to that number; it might have been considerably less than that.
She also bought a PS3 that I doubt she ever used for anything except a Blu Ray player. But then again, that could be said of about 90% of all PS3s sold at this point.

BTW (and this is not for anyone in particular) you might want to invite someone into a thread when you're talking about that person... that way if there's any questions they can be answered instead of wildly speculated.

Also use it to watch SD-DVDs since it upconverts so well. Haven't really gotten into the other functions because of lack of time, but I hear some BDs will have PSP connectivity (I have my launch PSP) so I'm looking forward to taking my DVDs with me. I'm also looking forward to Home. Once I finish organizing my music collection I plan to try out the PS3 streaming capabilities also.

Of course we're going to poke fun at you.I go through stages - music, movies, video games, back to music, movies, video games. I'm into movies more now. I feel the 360 itch sometime, it's just a matter of time. I do use it a lot as an HD-DVD player but I guess it doesn't record that as usage.
I -did- spend about the same on everything that people spent on the console alone, since I got the console free from work.
P.S. And I have to find out about these last few posts from the HD people

N+...wtf. I haven't bought a game on XBLA in like 6 months. I mean, I took Undertow and Carcasonne or whatever for free but come on guys. Where's a good game for me to spend money on? Bionic Commando, Castle Crashers, Tecmo Bowl, Golden Eye, That new Street Fighter...give us something good!

Magic: The Gathering (the CCG) has announced that they'll be releasing a game on XBLA. No word yet whether it'll be the "buy packs" type card game, or something like their games on other consoles.

In fact, I would probably be more receptive to getting a ton of cards with a full retail purchase than micro-transaction hell, but then again, I guess it's pretty much the same thing as dumping your money into the DLC for it.

That is why i am all gaga over Culdcept Saga (and i was over Phantom Dust). You buy the game and have all the cards on the disc. Everything is unlockable in game - none of this buying packs crap.
I also have no idea how they could sell random packs on Live since you can redownload things for free.

That style of gameplay/deck growth I could go for.
I dabbled in the Magic Online game, but pretty much like the real game, they definitely wanted you to buy the new cards. At least you could resell/trade them.

Well they stopped supporting the old MtG PC game within a year or so of release and they now have a pretty robust MtG: Online system running where (as you said) you buy packs of cards at full retail price. I think they even have a system where you can "redeem" an online card and have them mail you the physical card (for meatspace tournament play i assume). Due to the fact they are basically printing money with that system I can't imagine them going back to the way i loved it.
Maybe some smaller CCGs could go that route? Something like Steve Jackson's Illuminatus! might be cool.

Has anyone tried N+ yet? It looks like it could be fun, but I just can't imagine spending 800 points for a game that looks like THIS :
