Three more hours until it goes free.

Getting occasional error messages around the XBLA arcade screens right now.

Just picked it up, but it took me three tries, as I kept getting error messages when attempting to d/l the game.

I downloaded the free trial several days ago in anticipation of this, and no problems here downloading the full version. Just took a couple seconds and it was done.

Yeah, no problems here either on the first try, but I also already had the trial dl'ed as well if that makes a difference.

However, it was listed as an "unknown game" when I was purging some stuff from my hdd.

Brilliant! Downloading the trial first, never occured to me. I had the trial when it came out, I think I deleted it though.

Well, they've been given the auth now, so I got my 800 point back. Thank goodness. Now I've got some points for Rez next week.

I figured I'd at least ask about Carcasonne, but unfortunately that was a no-go, but the rep said that this would be the policy from here on out for games that become free.

So there are a total of four free games now, right? Aegis Wing, Carcassonne, Undertow (this week only), and Totemball (if you have the camera).

I'm pretty sure Carcasonne was only free for a limited time. And to call Totemball a "game" would be an extreme exaggeration

I agree on Totemball, but Carcassonne is still free as of an hour ago.

If Carcassonne is still free, I'm forcing all my friends to download it.

Seems to me that the only way you could tell if Carcassone was free would be if you hadn't downloaded it yet.

I just checked and Carcassone is listed as 800 points for me. Ah well. I never know when these damn things are free.

Wow, just downloaded and played Yaris. It would be a bad Atari 2600 game.

And maybe I was wrong about Carcassonne. I thought I downloaded it today, but it is possible I stumbled upon it earlier.

Same here. I'm sure I've missed several free or half-price today only sort of deals.

I was thinking we should have a thread here, " The Definitive Guide to free content on XBL." But perhaps there is no need to re-invent the wheel, as xbox360 rally seems to have a fairly current list.

But we all will hopefully mention these deals as we happen upon them in the main 360 thread and the XBLA thread.

Downloading Undertow, I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. So far, this is a decent little game.

That game is the worst sort of advertising. A girl in my office bought a Yaris this past weekend. I wrinkled my brow and said "Really???". Somehow in my head, I linked crappy game to crapy car. That's a problematic ad campaign.

Not to give this "game" still more attention, but I must repeat how amazingly bad it is.

I tried to get into it, figured I must be missing something. I think the programmers must have given up halfway thru and just plugged it up enough to run or something. No one involved in any part of it's production could possibly be proud of any piece of it, could they? Definitely the worst thing on XBLA. You can have more fun with a theme or picture pack.

I would seriously rather play any Atari 2600 game.

I know I'm repeating myself (badly).. but Yaris was made by Backbone aka Digital Eclipse.

You should have known better.

That's not fair to the Atari. There are many classics that are much more replayable than crap out now.

I like Digital Eclipse's retro upgrades.

Yaris is like a bad 3DO game being played on a Atari Jaguar.

You're right. I still play my 7800 more often than many of the newer/current systems.

I was just trying to convey how horrible the graphics and gameplay were, but perhaps a systems analogy can't really work in these cases

I could show you my import Sega Ages discs and you would shit a gold brick over how different they're handled over Digital Eclipse's Sega Genesis Collection. It is night and day. The upside is that DE's collection is $20 and has a lot of games on it.. but the accuracy, options, detail and overall care put into them are so vastly inferior. You would think that you were playing different games.
