I used to love Double Dribble, but don't think I'd buy it anymore.

Today:
Zanac (NES)
Dynastic Hero (TG16 CD)
Eternal Champions (Genesis)
Zanac is one of the top best NES games in my opinion. It looks very primitive, but is easily the deepest shooter on the system (and many systems above it) with its ever changing AI system. No memorizing patterns here, the game changes each time you play and adapts to your abilities and techniques. I use the music of the first level in Zanac as my ring tone. This is another Compile game, a company who I have raved about many times and have a few games already out on the Virtual Console including Blazing Lazers, Alien Crush and Devil's Crush.
Dynastic Hero is the exact same game as Wonder Boy in Monster World with different character graphics and a CD soundtrack. I've gone on and on and on about how awesome the Monster World games are in various Virtual Console discussions and this one is no different. If you haven't picked up the Genesis version this might be the one to get if only because this version allows four save slots as opposed to the Genesis version's one. The graphic and music differences are negligible. Also, this serves as a reminder that everyone should get the TG16 game Dragon's Curse, which serves as the prequel game to Dynastic Hero (though not as a prerequisite). This is a nice piece of history in that the actual CD for this game sells for up to $500, so grab a piece of gaming rarity for a smooth $8.

Ah Eternal Champions, what a highly memorable but really shitty series. May buy that one for the nostalgic value.

No buys for me this week. I may grab Dynastic Hero at some point, but I was never a big fan of the Wonder Boy games.
Eternal Champions is awful and I owned Zanac and never liked it.
Bring on next week and the updated Pokemon Snap.

I would give it another try on VC, but if I couldn't get into it when I was good at these games in my teens there is no chance of my liking it now.

Is there any word on whether Sega CD games will ever make it to the Virtual Console? With Eternal Champions out, I remember how much more I enjoyed the Eternal Champions "sequel" for it. Silpheed would also be nice to see again.

Good stuff from VGTalk... I can send a friend a classic game. I just may try it out.
Starting this week, Wii Shop Channel patrons can use a new Gifting feature to send games to other Wii owners with whom they've traded Friend Codes. It's a way to give your fellow Nintendo buffs the gift of a classic game. If your friend already has the game you're trying to give, you'll get a simple message and be bumped back into the catalog to continue shopping.
These three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time today:
Pokémon Snap (Nintendo 64, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Travel to Pokémon Island and meet Professor Oak to begin a safari, taking the best possible photographs of 63 different Pokémon as they exist in the wild, undisturbed by humans. This is not as easy as it sounds—the island has many types of climates and environments to explore, along with secret activities and hidden passages to discover. Plus, some of the Pokémon can be a little shy and won't pose for the camera unless you tease them with special items. After you're done, submit one picture of each Pokémon to Professor Oak, and he'll judge it based on size, pose, technique and number of Pokémon captured.
Ghosts'n Goblins (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone—Mild Animated Violence, 500 Wii Points): Ghosts'n Goblins presents quite a challenge to players brave enough to take on the role of Arthur and delve into the realm of demons and monsters to rescue the kidnapped princess. Choose your weapons wisely and take advantage of their strengths to deal with the situation at hand. Pass through the six gates that stand between you and Astaroth, and teach him a lesson in chivalry he'll never forget.
BASEBALL STARS 2 (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 900 Wii Points): Pick one of six unique teams from cities around the world, then get ready for nine innings of excitement, whether you're taking on the computer in a 15-game tournament or squaring off against a friend. There are two modes of game play, so even the most inexperienced player can compete at the major-league level (with a little computer-aided fielding). Watch as the game develops through split-screen views and close-up shots worthy of any highlight film, and see if you can catch the numerous over-the-top animations of the large and detailed player models.

Pokémon Snap has been enhanced slightly for the VC version:

The NES version is pretty shitty, developed by one of the worst Japanese NES developers:

I didn't even know there was a Baseball Stars 2. Is it any good? There isn't any game that ever rivaled the amount of time I put into Baseball Stars on the NES.

Pokemon Snap is just as fun as I remembered. I just love this concept for an on rails shooter. Trying to figure out just how to get them to turn around and then actually nailing the picture is a lot of fun. Solid game without requiring you to really like Pokemon, but of course that helps if you do.

Besides just sharing pictures, is there anything different about the VC version of Pokemon Snap? Can you use the Wiimote instead of the classic controller? The reason I'm asking is because I thought I'd read somewhere that that was a possibility.
