Deb, I'm a physician. I've told you where I work and what sort of physician I am over Live, you just don't remember, apparently. We'll talk this weekend.

The keyboard sounds cool, but it's too big an expense for the limited benefit it provides, for me at least. Ditto the wireless headset.

You mean 4 years ago? :p :) Sorry :( Hey you know any good dentists who accept Metlife?

+1 to whoever remembers where I'm really from

Wait, I know your family has roots somewhere in South America right? Did I get it wrong? I'm sorry!

Oh, and wow you sounded younger than I expected... I thought you were in your 50's and you sounded 20-ish.
I'm an old soul. :p People always think I'm older. I'm probably older than you, but I'm only 37.

GatorDeb 10-05-07 02:18 PM

Well it's just that you're one of the few people here who I would really use their advice to base important real-life decisions on, so I always just picture you as older and wiser Uncle Robo :D (BTW I'll be 30 in May :( ).

I picked up the new Halo wireless headset and in my opinion it is worth the money (though I did use a BB 10% off coupon and also had a $30 GC to ease the pain).

It is very comfortable and works like a charm so far. Much much better than the wired headset in my opinion. Everyone says they can hear me just fine and the volume control works great on it. Its not bulky and since I have a big head (at least that's what everyone says...bastards), I don't have headaches after playing for a long time (that wired headset can feel like a vice after a long session).

It comes with a detachable ear piece so you can use a medium size or small size. For you Dumbos who play 360 and need to know, mine did not come with a large size earpiece. The medium seems plenty large but my ears luckily do not match my big noggin.

It charges like the "plug and play charge kits." I still think it is WAY over priced but I am very happy with my purchase and would not give it up now.

Thanks UncleGramps. I was also reading over at teamxbox.com that it is well designed and fits good with the controller. It also adds a bit to the ergonomics of the controller. At least for larger hands.

I don't have many messages but when I do have text messages on LIVE typing replies on the virtual keyboard sucks. I haven't used Messenger on the 360, but I do use the Windows Live Messenger to see who's on LIVE. You can send messages and link to xbox.com and your friend's list from there too.

That's good to know because I heard nothing but bad things about the 1st ones

Did anyone here buy the Pinball game on Live Arcade? They only let you play one table on the demo and you cap out on points really quickly.

How are the other two tables? It seems to handle really well. If they ever add any other tables, would you have to re-buy the game?

Michael Corvin 10-05-07 02:46 PM

Thanks for the input on the wireless headset. I had no idea they had fixed the problems.

GatorDeb 10-05-07 02:54 PM

The pinball game is awesome, just bought it. There are two reasons why I bought three tables for $10:

1. I skipped Wii Pinball and I was jonesing for a pinball game.
2. I was hooked by the demo. It it very realistic and the controls are the most awesome ever for a pinball game. I can forget about the controls and just play. Have I mentioned how realistic it is?

2 balls at the same time. Knocking each other around. Awesome.

brianluvdvd - buy it so I have someone to play with :D

I have enough left for 6 more games. I think I will do alternating months - one month 1 game, the other month $80 in points (10 games) and back and forth.

Then again I can rent 6 at a time for $25.50 so I may just do that instead of buying and pick up favorites when they're $10 or so.

Decker 10-05-07 03:17 PM

Thanks for the review, brian. I have to remember to add you to my friends list. Too bad the headset's so expensive. It's doubly frustrating since the PS3 works with any bluetooth headset so that one doesn't cost me a dime.

Exactly what I hate about it. Plus it's not a very sturdy gadget.

Pinball is one of 3 Arcade games that I've bought. I don't know why I like it, I've never been that interested in pinball in the past. Anyway, I think it's a lot of fun for a quick diversion. One night I was in some kind of bizarre pinball 'zone' and racked up a pretty big score on the first board. I haven't been able to come close since.

2 complaints:

1) No new boards.

2) What the hell am I supposed to be trying to do to rack up a big score? There appear to be bonus games and areas of the board that you should aim for, but I have no idea what's going on with either.

I just try to keep the ball in play and every once in a while, a bunch of lights start flashing and my score starts going up faster than it did previously. :)

GatorDeb 10-05-07 08:49 PM

Hey Gromit add me GatorDeb07 (zero seven) and I'll play you pinball anytime :D
What are the other 2 arcade games you have? I've only had the XBOX 3 days (seems like ages) and I already have 5 or so -eek-

Flay 10-05-07 09:20 PM

For all you Puzzle Quest fanatics, I just tossed the new trailer up on VGT: http://www.videogametalk.com/news.php

The dev reconfirmed next week in the same email.

argh923 10-05-07 09:42 PM

Pinball's fun, except for the atrocious Speed level. I hate that one.

That, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to get the achievements. :) But Gromit's right...it's mass confusion.

GatorDeb 10-05-07 09:44 PM

I'm definitely 100% getting Puzzle Quest game, $15 and all, so anyone that wants a match, GatorDdeb07 (zero seven) (Does anyone confuse that with an o or can I stop specifying zero? I.e. is it clear or should I keep adding it?)

I've gotten a couple of achievements, all I've got to say is keep the ball in play as long as possible. :)

It's clear GD. I would suggest putting your gamertag in your sig. That way people can just see it.

DJ_Longfellow 10-06-07 09:41 AM

I think we need a separate XBLA thread ;)

I still have like 6800 points, and not sure what to buy....I've had them for a LONG time in my account also. Nothing has "blown" me away lately, although, not many of my friends play on LIVE with Arcade games.

Oh well. I at least have UNO and Texas Hold-Em for some decent card games.

Michael Corvin 10-06-07 09:45 AM

All this talk of Pinball reminded me I never tried it out(until this morning). $10 for 3 tables is still weak, IMO. I have a ton of points from the CC sale though(13,000+), I just need to quit being so stingy.

The demo was fun, but 3 tables... weak, weak, weak.

I understand about not wanting to spend points.....I have a decent amount and I still just keep them, just in case.

Added Gamertags in Signature finally

aktick 10-06-07 10:20 AM

Yeah, I've got like 12400 points, and have NEVER bought an XBLA game. The only thing I've bought is the My Chemical Romance songs for GH2. I'm keeping them stockpiled in the hopes that Rock Band will have a lot of good songs to d/l.

tonyc3742 10-06-07 10:24 AM

I think the only ones I've paid for have been Spades (on sale, though I didn't get it during the megasale) and Catan. I've still got about 4200 points, not as many as some of you, but enough that I don't have to be really stingy about it.
Even though they're points, I translate into dollars, and 8-12 bucks for a lot of games still seems like a lot.
I tried the pinball, but I don't know if I'd get the ten bucks worth out of it. It was rather hard to tell what was going on or where I should be hitting, but some real pinball tables are like that as well. Plus I don't think any pinball game could draw me in as much as Balls of Steel, loved that one.
