If you want a sim racer then get Forza 2. If you want arcade style get Burnout. I liked PGR but I thought these other two were better.

GatorDeb 10-04-07 05:06 PM

Don't tell me I'm the only one in the world who picked up Geon :(

I LOVE Astropop... was feeling all good about reaching level 7 until I read an achievement is doing levels 1-32 4 times... sigh.

Isn't Burnout the one where you try to crash into people and things? Never got the hang of that.

SteelgearX 10-04-07 05:14 PM

Well, damn, we don't have to beat her down about it.

I loved loved loved Rallisport back in the day and was surprised to see no Rallisport 3 yet for the 360. I know that Dirt is Colin McRae's game and they were always good but seemed to lack the spack that Rallisport had.

I have read good things about Dirt so far and was thinking of checking it out.

It's a great game. I love playing with the camera where you're in the car. The effect is awesome, but I just wish I had the steering wheel to go along with it.

Decker 10-04-07 05:28 PM

I heard DiRT is perhaps the only game that is preferable in the PS3 over the 360. Still to have only two games on the PS3 and them both being off-road racers seems a little silly to me. I'll probably wait for a price drop.

GatorDeb 10-04-07 05:28 PM

Decker want to play Bomberman, Pool, Tetris now? :)

Decker 10-04-07 05:40 PM

Nope. I'm working. Just between patients. Send me an invite when you see me (or any of your Friends) logged in online.

lordwow 10-04-07 05:45 PM

I love Carcassonne btw. I played UNO A LOT when I first got my system, especially to get the 40 ranked wins and what not. Ever since I got that I've moved on to playing Carcassonne almost every time I'm on live. It's currently only a couple of days away from being my most played. It's a definite "easy to learn, difficult to master" type game, and you can fit a whole game in online in 15 minutes which isn't always the case with Uno.

Patients? What do you for a living?

Seriously we should meet one day :D I'm right off 95 and Craig.

GatorDeb 10-04-07 05:57 PM

Lordwow what's your gamertag?

BTW I gave in and bought Carcassone and I'm on now.

Gamertag GatorDeb07 (zero seven)

Why is that?

GatorDeb 10-04-07 06:39 PM

Seriously, all I get are timeouts on Carcassone and billiards when I try to join games. And that's a wired DSL connection. Grr :(

Last paragraph, Gamespot review:

That said, the multiplayer support is really the only thing about DiRT you can call truly disappointing. On every other front, DiRT delivers a racing experience that's a lot of fun to play, as well as visuals that are an absolute joy to watch. The PS3 version's inclusion of a steadier frame rate, slightly better audio quality, and support for the Logitech G25 force feedback steering wheel helps define it as the best of the bunch. If you already picked up one of the previous releases of the game, there's not enough new content here to make this version worth your while. But for those who missed out on DiRT the first time around, this is the definitive version to get.

They have identical scores on metacritic and less than 1% difference on gamerankings. In that instance wouldn't live, friends lists and achievements give the 360 the edge?

I tried the demo. It's decent. Not something I'd buy though.

GatorDeb 10-04-07 07:01 PM

I've been trying to join a match with Pinata for 10 mins now and all I get are timeouts (and my first official xbox freeze 1 day after owning the console... good times.

Do a test through your dashboard and check to see what you get for NAT settings. If you get "closed" or "moderate" then that may be your problem.

GatorDeb 10-04-07 07:18 PM

Wired, confirmed X 5, open for NAT... sigh and grr :(

Yeah, we can't join each others games or chats. I can play with other strangers (and friends in the past) and I can tell she has by her Tetris achievements.

This is weird. I tried sending a chat invite to jediwicz, but he didn't answer probably thinking I'm some kinda stalker.

pinata242 10-04-07 07:49 PM

I'm getting a moderate NAT, Deb. So it looks like it's on my end. I'll get to the bottom of this!

GatorDeb 10-04-07 07:53 PM

I'll be here until 7pm PST but I'm using the computer (I use the 360 with the LCD so I can either do computer or xbox at a time, so send me a message here and I'll switch over :D

pinata242 10-04-07 07:54 PM

Got it fixed, sent you an invite. Me and jedi are waiting.

GatorDeb 10-04-07 08:17 PM

YEESSSS it worked !! :D

Setting up time: 1 hour
Play time: 3 minutes
XBOX 360: Priceless (after you throw it out the window, because it's now in pieces)

Hey, that's a better ratio than I get with my wife!

I also tried the DiRt demo, couldn't get into it, but I just don't like rally racing.
Tried the Jericho demo, I liked the concept and story and powers, but that was (imho) a poor choice for a demo level--first, I'm in the middle of the story (though the movie helped), second, it's virtually a sewer level, third, it's dark as hell so I couldn't see a lot, nor tell where I was going. I didn't delete the demo, but the game is at most a rental as of now.
Okay, this might be a mistake, but I'm going online now for the first time since Halo came out.

Giantrobo 10-05-07 06:45 AM
