I did get a good one. Had to open two of them at the counter of BB but I got a good one. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

On xbox.com, sign in and what does it say when you go to "Modify Membership" (first have to go to your profile)? That will tell you if you have the 1 month trial or the code is correct.

Shagrath is correct, there is no code for new accounts only. Typically that is indeed an eBay scam (because you cannot leave a neg 30 days after the free trial expires).

You guys got me all worried for nothing

I think the Live Vision Pack is an overall great value depending where you buy it. Around $72 shipped from NewEgg.com.

I'm one of those as well, and am pretty ticked there's no game this week. There's some DLC that was supposed to be released this week that hasn't made it to the marketplace either, probably because of Halo 3.

$58.XX at Buy.com with first-time Google checkout ($68.XX) all others, free shipping, 12 months Gold, 3 arcade games, 200 pts, headset, camera.

Agreed, especially when Puzzle Quest was promised to arrive in September. Hopefully it arrives next week.

I've got kind of a weird problem. MY xbox 360 , out of the blue, just stopped reading the media from my computer. When I go to open pictures, music or videos, it tells me none are found. Keep in mind that it is recognizing my computer just fine and searching it. I checked out my windows media player and it is set to allow my 360 to receive media from my comp and my playlist is loaded, but nothing is showing up. IT was reading fine a week or so agao and I can't think of anything I might have done to cause it to do this. Any ideas?

GatorDeb 09-27-07 08:21 PM

What are the best Halo 3 prices?

Anyone know the release date for VP Party Animals (I can only find "Holiday 2007")? I just got around to playing the demo and it's a sure purchase for me. And what a great demo (I was surprised at the number of games and ability to play local multiplayer). Thumbs up!

It's $49.99 at Costco. There's about a million copies in Summerlin. If you're not a member, I'll meet you there and you can buy it. Let me know if you need that help.

Anyone play the Jericho demo? I enjoyed it - it was better than I expected

Is that the CE or the barebones? I might have to take you up on that offer when you go grocery shopping again thanks! :)

Barebones.

Spiderbite 09-28-07 07:29 AM

So someone school me on Xbox Live Points.

What price should you pay for them? I played a demo of a pinball game that I really liked and I will probably have to pick up Ms. Pacman & Galaga just on principle.

Also, what is a good price for downloadable games? I saw that a lot of them are running around 800 points (but that could be due to the 25% off sale). Is that a good price or do they have sales or is it a matter of just getting your points cheaply?

Thanks.

xmiyux 09-28-07 07:39 AM

Points are pretty standard in price unless they are included in sales, like when Circuit City had all video game accessories buy 1 get 1 free. That made it so you could get 2 point cards for the price of one (and therefore get 50% off).
If you haven't gone the Google Checkout route for the 10$ coupon, i did that once to get a 1600 point card from buy.com

Sales on the games are kind of a new thing. I think they have done it twice now where they discount certain games for a period of time.

For the most part games are 800 or 400 points (10$ or 5$) with only a couple games going up to 1200 points. Every game is required to have a free demo, so test them out before buying. Also, skip Ms. Pac-Man and just get Pac-Man: Championship Edition, you will thank me later.

Also, avoid Lumines, the price gouging on that game makes me see red.

edit: To be honest, unless there is a killer sale like the CC one on points, i just buy them straight through the Xbox. It stores your credit card and you can just choose among various levels of points to buy (from 12$ to like 70$) and while you are paying retail, you don't have to enter some huge number.

Agreed. Ms. Pac is an accurate version of the arcade game, but can't touch the crack that is Pac-Man: CE. This is coming from someone who's all time favorite game is Ms. Pac-Man.

I picked up my pre-order of Halo 3 Tuesday morning..

..and then traded it for Dynasty Warriors Gundam.

Chris_D 09-28-07 10:03 AM

Huh, why? I'm a fan of the warriors games actually, but still wondering.

PixyJunket 09-28-07 10:08 AM

I pre-ordered for the $5 points card and my friend is paying for the Gundam game.

I've been looking forward to this since I saw the trailer. I downloaded the demo this morning but I haven't played yet.

aktick 09-28-07 10:55 AM

So I thought somebody mentioned the fall dashboard update would probably be mid-October? I have some shows I couldn't record because of conflicts on my DVR, that I'd like to watch by alternative means, but will probably wait until the update with Xvid support.

You know, seeing the original Oblivion box stating [480p/720p/1080i] and the Oblivion: Game of the Year edition stating [720p/1080i/1080p] I was going to ask if the resolutions on the box were just there for placebo effect, but it looks like I got my answer before getting a chance (or remembering) to post it here:

I read that yesterday... and decided I didn't really care. I know it potentially can set a bad trend that big games "cheat" by lowering the resolution, but as long as the game plays the way it's supposed to and is still fun, it doesn't matter a whole lot to me.
