For 600 it's worth it. It's a nice pool game. Most of us have gotten it free with one deal or another involving the Live Gold bundle. But for that price, you won't go wrong.

I grabbed Frogger at 200 points last night and am considering Spades. Does it come with any tutorial on how to play? I have no idea how to play spades...

At 600 points Bankshot is definately worth it. I got it with a Live Bundle and it's pretty fun -- though its value is much closer to 600 pts than 1200, IMO.

Yes there is a tutorial, you can try it in the demo.

Ok - I just got my 360 back from Microsoft - my original 360 had suffered the RRoD -

Question: how can I tell if my "new" 360 is a refurbished unit or it's actually a new unit? Do they even send out new units? The manufacturer's date on the back of the unit is 9/14/2007 - does that date indicate the day it was refurbished or is that the day it was actually manufactured?

Thanks for the help!

I don't know there is a way to tell for sure, but that is most certainly a new unit. I got back a unit with a much older date, so based on that, they don't create a new date for when it was refurb'd.

Should be the manufacture date, so I think it's new. A good amount of people seem to be recieving new ones these days.

Nosmo Rex 09-26-07 04:57 PM

I think my 360 is going on the blink again. The optical drive is starting to make some funny noises, and it had a tough time reading my Halo 3 disk last night. This is pretty much the same problem it had when I sent it in the first time (last spring).

Michael Corvin 09-26-07 04:59 PM

the date on the back is the manufacture date. Unless you bought your 360 that day and it died, looks like you got a new one. Nice. When did you send it in?

I always jot down my manufacture date and serial number so I can compare when this happens.

Thanks for the answers -

I sent my RRoD 360 out on 09/04/07 - it was received on 09/11/07 - I was able to track the repair info for the first week or so ("we have received your 360...blah blah"), but then I was unable to track it after that (the serial number was no longer valid) - naturally, I called the 1-800 number to see what was up, but they were unable to give anymore information other than when they received my RRoD 360 - that gave me hope that they were sending me a new unit with a new serial number - I guess that's what happened. I didn't even know they had mailed out a UPS package to me - it just happened to show up and I just happened to be home at 5:00PM today -

Timeline:

09/01/07 - RRoD Day
09/04/07 - Received RRoD coffin (UPS box) and mailed out same day
09/11/07 - Repair center receives my RRod 360
09/18/07 - I believe this is the date I was no longer able to track the repair
09/26/07 - I received UPS package with the new unit (it was mailed out 9/23)

Live was soo slow last night. It took forever just to load my friends page.

Does your new unit had hdmi output.

So do all 360's have an automatic 3 year warranty? Unlimited swaps and free shipping both ways if it breaks?

edstein 09-26-07 07:54 PM

I know that the RROD is covered for three years but some other stuff might not be covered. I think at this point if I had any problem with it I would just tell them that is was a RROD issue and avoid any hassles.

One year unlimited warranty. Three year RROD warranty. I still imagine if one ever got a RROD error, it would probably be fixed for free since they've essentially admitted it's a manufacturing error and a defective product.

Damn, this is what I was worried about. Holding out for those free games just cost me 100 points on Frogger  Billiards is out for me at 900. Now on the fence for Spades for 300...

PixyJunket 09-27-07 10:38 AM

My friend is getting a 360 next weekend but he cannot get a wire to where his 360 will be and he can't spare the extra $100 for the wireless adapter (of which the $130 DS has built in, heh), so I'm trying to find any options, I've found one that says he can use his wireless laptop as a bridge and that should work for him, but is there anything else?

argh923 09-27-07 10:44 AM

Any wireless adapter will work. Cheapest route is to have him try to get a used adapter for the original XBox...they work great. Check eBay or Amazon.

pinata242 09-27-07 10:45 AM

The only other option would be a dedicated bridge or a router converted to a bridge, possibly flashed with a 3rd party firmware like http://www.dd-wrt.com

That's what I use for my 360, PS3, and PC.

Michael Corvin 09-27-07 10:47 AM

Move the modem/router to the 360, hardwire it, and get a cheap wireless card for the PC.

GatorDeb 09-27-07 10:50 AM

Brand new Xbox 360 Elite owner!

Any deals on live? Is $80 for 2 Arcade games, 1 year Gold, and the camera (and 200 worthless arcade points) worth it?
