Surround sound is amazing in this game and I'd say required for the full experience.

Yeah, just the surrounding sounds of creaking walls and buildings under the pressure of water adds an amazing sense of atmosphere. Not to mention, I'd never be able to know where the next splicer is if it wasn't for the surround sound - I can hear them talking to themselves, but if it wasn't for the directional sound, I'd have no idea where they are.

Ok, I've been stuck for an hour. I am in Olympus Heights and:

Spoiler:
I am searching for the 192 remedy. It says I should be able to find the code for the elevator in the paparazzi's diary on the third floor. I have searched and searched and searched and can't find it. The only two rooms on the third floor is an abandoned apartment and tenebaums room. WTF do i find the code?

Remember, you can find tape recordings on dead bodies and inside ojects like trash cans and chests. I remember that one being pretty easy to find.

But if you just want the code:

I have a feeling that I :

Spoiler:
found it awhile ago but died or didn't listen to it if it was recorded. I was bum rushing the level, dealing with the big daddy, etc. at the time. I have searched EVERYTHHING on every floor I have access too.

thanks for the help!

EDIT:

Yep, that was the problem. I just didn't look through my recording. I just beat the game, very very very good. I don't even like FPS shooters and tried hard not to plow through it, but I couldn't help myself. It wore a little thin at the end, and I HATE
Spoiler:
escort missions
. Also
Spoiler:
the end boss was really easy, I still had 8 bars of health.

I just recalled the exact location of the Paparazzi recording:

Spoiler:
It's on the very top floor or Mercury Suites, sitting on a storage box out in the open air hallway. Basically, on the way to Tennenbaum's apartment.

I've got the achievements for taking photographs of all the different splicers, big daddy's, and little sisters, but I haven't earned the achievement for 'Prolific Photographer' (take at least one photo in every research group) nor have I earned 'Research PhD' (Max out all possible research) even though I've maxed out the research for all different enemies... what else am I missing?

Have you fully researched Security cameras, turrets, and flying security bots?

DOH (I'm pretty sure I'm close to the end... I hope I come across enough of them to get those achievements)

Also, have you taken pictures of Nitro Splicers? They don't show up as often as the others and since they're tossing exploding materials at you, you tend to kill them before taking pictures.

Yep maxed them out, took me a while to have the foresight to whip out my camera for them though...

Also, thanks to Flay, I have gotten both of those previously un-attained achievements.

I'm about half-way through the Proving Grounds now. I need one more weapon upgrade before I have them all. Will I come across the last Power To The People machine soon or did I pass it?

I just completed my first Big Daddy encounter, and entered the third section (I think its the Neptune). My game has been having a bunch of stuttering issues. The best I can describe it is as if I was playing the game online, and I was lagging. Were you past the area I'm at when your issues ceased?

I really think my 360 is going to bite the dust soon, because I tested out Gears of War to make sure it wasn't only Bioshock giving me problems, and Gears is starting to stutter a bit, and I don't ever remember doing that before.

You passed it if you are already on the Proving Grounds. You still have time to go back though. I will say if you killed

Spoiler:
Cohen
back at Fort Frolic, you can't unlock the weapon achievement.

Let me know if you want a full description of all the weapon machines.

I'm having the same stuttering issues (although mine were happening up to and through the Big Daddy encounter). I've not had any problems with other games, so I don't know exactly what the deal is.

Yeah, my stuttering issues have been throughout the entire game so far. I tried changing the setting in the options menu that has to do with framerate, but the game still stutters.

Dang. I guess I'll do that in my second run through. Just beat the game. I harvested every Little Sister so I got the 'evil' ending I guess.

Looking forward to get to it again!

Wow. They just had a Bioshock commercial on FOX during the Green Bay/Jax game.

Quick question: on the 360 version, is there any way to disable the glow around "quest items"? I like the glow on ammo, first aid kits, etc. as they can be easy to miss in the dark, but I just came across a quest item that would've been more fun to find on my own. (Arcadia spoiler ahead)
Spoiler:
The poster/painting in the botanist's office. Hard to miss with that obnoxious glow.

My guess is that you can't disable it, but I figured I'd ask. It's a minor complaint but it did irk me in this instance.

I haven't noticed a setting that disables that feature.

Well I spend another long night playing. I was so frustrated at first by the game but it was just too much fun. Now that I have more plasmids and weapons I don't want to say it's easier but there are so many more options.

Spoiler:
My buddy who hasn't even played the game was nice enough to tip me off about the plasmid you get if you save 2 little sisters. I was going to kill them all but he said I would get a nice treat for saving a few. I'm sure this was mentioned here but I was trying to stay away from most spoilers and didn't know about it.

You also end up getting some extra Adams in the Teddy Bears, like 200 for each 3-4 you save - enough so that it's not really worth killing them.
