Played this last night at a Wii demo kiosk at EB. Liked it enough to pre-pay it. Control feels pretty spot on. Graphics (judging from the intro section I played, and this was the full retail game) were ok. Nothing really jumped out, but it may have been the environment at the beginning (standard spaceship interior) which is similar to the Halo intro level.

I do hope that this control scheme becomes more prevalent with future FPS's on the Wii.

I was planning on picking this up at BB tomorrow in anticipation of my FV order being slow, but with the purchase of a new TV that I haven't set up yet (painting living room first - need to wait for Labor Day sale on Behr ), I think I'm going to wait until I can get some good 16:9, 480p at 46" rather than 4:3, 480i at 27". Call me crazy...

Oh snap, did you get the 4661?!

If so, then by all means hold out for the week!

Yes, I did. It's just sitting in the office boxed up waiting for the painting to be done and the new credenza to arrive. The PS3 also remains boxed upon the LCD box. It's hell.

9.5 from IGN! I can't wait for tomorrow.
Even better the tougher reviewing 1UP gave it a 9.0. Retro has delivered again.

Not crazy at all, I did the same for Zelda on the Wii when I was waiting for the Big N to mail me the component cables. Best A/V decision I ever made as I looked at the composite cable of the game and just laughed.

Cool. I've already got the component cables thanks to Amazon selling the official ones for like $12 a couple months ago.

8.5 from Gamespot, 9.6 from GameTrailers (.1 higher than BioShock).

8.5 doesn't seem that high...wonder what they ranked RE4 Wii.

I'm not sure the Bioshock comparison is fair or relevant, unless it was the same reviewer. They are different games for different audiences on different consoles. Besides, .1 can be attributed to simple selection bias...one reviewer's 9.5 might be another's 9.6...and when you get into the high nines, it's all semantics anyway.

If I thought I could trust a 360 not to break, Bioshock probably would have put me over the edge, as it looks like an amazing game...for a first person shooter.

The really cool thing is that the Wii has another system seller besides Zelda...not that they're having trouble selling systems...but it might, at least, shut the naysayers up for a bit.

Gamespot also gave Super Metroid (one of the top ten greatest games of all time) an 8.5. In other words, fuck Gamespot.

I just played for about an hour and a half, and I've gotta say the game is mega sweet so far. The controls are taking a bit of getting used to but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it . The first boss was already a pain in my ass but I was able to figure him out without too much trouble.

I like Gamespot, and trust their reviews more than any other online site. I actually read the review though.

It'll also keep you busy for a while, since you can earn tokens for completing various tasks and use them to purchase unlockable goodies like concept art and bumper stickers for Samus' ship. While the lack of multiplayer is disappointing, the single-player campaign won't leave you wanting. In the end, you may not be able to shake the feeling that you've done all this before, but it will still make you grateful for how great it is at its core.

They gave it an 8.5 on the Wii (Super Metroid), that isn't half bad for a game thats well over a decade old, emulated. It's actually somewhat generous when you get right down to it.

But regardless, I just hope this is better than Echoes.

Sigh, I have to get through work, and then hope my WalMart has it in stock, as it's the only store that sells games that's not a long drive.

No dice for me either. Not only that but I slept like shit last night so I probably will only be able to get a couple hours out of it tonight. In fact, I need to get me a extra large coffee right about now if I'm even going to stay at work today (as tempting as it is to cut).

Ordered mine from Family Video, so I won't get to play until Saturday or so.

I'll be picking up my copy after work. Fortunately I just finished BioShock last night, but I haven't finished Echoes yet, and I'm debating whether or not I should finish that up before I start on Corruption. Any opinions? Will I miss much in terms of plot if I just jump into MP3 and finish up MP2 later?

Same here, but I'm out of town for the weekend anyway, so I can wait for saving $10 on the game

Metroid really isn't about its plot, although it is there and fairly strong if you choose to delve into it. The Prime series is supposed to be its own trilogy revolving around phazon but I don't think you'll miss a single thing by skipping on Echoes (other than a great game, heh).
