M$ will send you one for free, just need your old system's serial number:

Thank you!

My buddy has one of those USB cables that you can shove a memory card in. We've used it for d/l NCAA rosters and such. Can I use that or will it corrupt my game save? I could have sworn that I read that your system becomes disabled if you transfer saves because of the whole "achievement" thing.

We're already there. If you read the fine print you would find that you don't own any of the arcade games you bought, authentication or otherwise. They are considered a lease.

That is not surprising since Windows itself is a lease deal.

Thats the problem it doesn't work for everyone, unless when you sent it in for repair they reassigned your Gamer Tag and SN to the new or refurbished console
you received. This has been going on for a long time there is an 86 page thread on the xbox forums about this same issue. When I had the problem it took a month to resolve, at the time they were giving you back your points to buy all your content back. Now they just tell you to re downloaded everything and it should work, but not always. If you want to read up on it here is a link to the thread on the forums. You would think Microsoft would have fixed this issue by now.

This is something I'm curious about, because I read a post over at CAG that said the same thing a few weeks ago. L&O also mentioned it a ways back.

Bottom line - if I, as a consumer, am willing to buy a SECOND 360 console and give Microsoft more of my money, I don't think it's too much to ask to have the same access for the 44 XBLA games I own that I had on my first system.

I am asking this because I have no idea...not that I know the answer....

Doesn't Microsoft make you detach the harddrive before you send it in or do you send in the system with the harddrive attached?

If you send it in without the harddrive, I don't understand where the problem is...Couldn't you take your harddrive to a million different XBOX 360 consoles and all of them would operate as if it is the original XBOX 360 console with that harddrive???

Well, stand by...you will eventually know when you have to send yours in.

Yes. You keep the HD and any faceplates. When you think about it, it's a good idea because chances are you ain't gettin' the original stuff back anyway.

The HD and the consoles are linked when you make purchases. It's not just the HD. That's why items purchased on one unit and HD, are restricted if you try to take the HD and attach it to another console.

Thanks for the answers. I have been debating getting a HDMI and selling the one I have now on craigslist but it appears it may not be worth the hassle.

You can do what I'm doing: enjoy the system until it gets the Cirque du Rouge, send it in for a refurb, get your points refunded, sell the refurb, buy a new 360 with the HDMI and use the refunded points on that. Hopefully, by the time either of us gets hit, the 65nm chips will be on the store shelves as an added bonus.

Unless they start applying the fix for downloadable content to everyones refurbished machines. Once they do that, it would probably be a lot harder getting points refunded.

Eh, if they do that I'll just keep the refurb. My want for HDMI is literally for future convenience only.

I got my 360 pro on tuesday. It runs a tad quieter, but I have noticed a considerably less amount of heat when playing for longer sessions

Wow, the Xbox Live Arcade press release came early this week and it is loaded with goodies. First and foremost, let's discuss next week's games. There are two games arriving next Wednesday, Fatal Fury Special and Cyberball 2072. If you're a longtime gamer, both titles are likely to bring back heady arcade memories. We're talking about real arcades of course. Fatal Fury Special is old school 2D fighting at its finest, whereas Cyberball 2072 brings us robotic football with a ball that explodes if you don't make those touchdowns quickly. It is, put simply, football for nerds, and it always managed to draw in the same two guys at the arcade. You know, the guys who put their drinks on the machine and played nothing else for five hours. Good times. Both Fatal Fury and Cyberball will be available for 400 points.

In other Arcade news, a select group of XBLA games will be available for half price this weekend in celebration of Labor Day. The four titles are Zuma, Small Arms, Dig Dug, and Gauntlet. Zuma and Small Arms will be available for 400 points, while Dig Dug and Gauntlet will be a mere 200 points each. The Labor Day special runs from 5:00PM PT September 1st though 4:59PM PT September 3rd. Hachi machi, it's so much Arcade goodness we can barely stand it.

Zuma, Dig Dug, and Gauntlet will be mine for sure. Is Small Arms worth 400 points (really only $2.50 - thanks CC!)

I got my XBox Hori arcade stick today.

It is the Virtua Fighter 5 model, but if you don't put any of the stickers on it, it looks just like a regular XBox arcade stick.

The button layout is good, and the joystick park clicks when you move it. I don't know how that will be when playing a game though. It has a port to plug your headset into as well.

If you want an arcade stick, go for it.

Good to see they are finally stepping up to the plate to offer some sales. Anyone who doesn't own Zuma needs to pick it up at that price.

Do you Pac-Man: CE by chance? I'd like to know how it responds to some of the faster levels since the analog controller is a point of contention to many (including myself). I might have to buy the stick regardless since Street Fighter II HD is coming soon..

I hated Small Arms. Is it down to 400 points? I thought it was 800.

That's almost enough for me to pass. I bet the online has died down considerably anyway. The other 3 will be good enough.

Do you mean you got an Elite?

I was sort of thinking upgrading to an elite. I have a premium 360 from launch and thank God nothing has happened yet (the red ring) I have games freezing up from time to time and I have to hit the power button and start over (especially on Oblivion, but it happens on other games as well) I was sort of thinking about the elite because I heard they took care of the heat issues like you mentioned above, and the bigger hard drive and HDMI port would REALLY be nice. (and I really like the color black)
