My most wanted Wii game (after Metroid and DQ: Swords) has been sort of announced in Japan this week: Wii Love Golf. After enjoying the golf game on Wii Sports, I had REALLY wanted Mario Golf. Well, Wii Love Golf is being made by the same development team, just without the Mario characters.. so yeah. I'm excited. Hopefully it has a good character creation tool.
|
I relly wanted Mario Golf, too. Is it in the works at all?
Is there a U.S. release date for Wii Love Golf? |
Wii Love Golf should be Mario Golf without Mario, essentially (or at least I hope it is). I doubt they're working on a separate Mario version since this is in the works. No dates yet, as it was just revealed this week in Japanese magazines.

Is there a way to save your game progress in Super Mario Bros. (VC)?

I wonder if they'll do anything about running the games off external storage - these things ain't small. Fatal Fury is 2x as big as OOT, for God's sake... |
I was reading the new EGM and they had Zak and Wiki listed in the TERRIBLE section for games at E3... I wonder what they didn't like versus what everyone else DID like.

EGM?
They probably didn't like it because it's colorful and there's no murder in it. |

I GOT A WII!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :) :D
So I kept checking the outtastock.com website, and within minutes of it being in stock somewhere, out it was again. So after a couple of days, I saw that Toys 'R Us had gone in and out of stock, and I got the bright idea to call them. They had a handful. 20 minutes later, I had a Wii in my hands!! Already tried Tennis, Bowling, and Baseball. I suck as much in Wii Baseball as I do in real life  It is AWESOME. I've never ever had as much fun with a console before. This is even better than the Wii. Within the next month I plan to buy Mario Party 8, Wii Play, and Carnival Games. The Wii is awesome. |

I will although it might be a month before I get it. I am getting it for sure though. Just for Skeeball. Skeeball is my most favorite game ever. Skeeball on demand... The DS gave me Speed on the go (card game) and now Skeeball on demand... :shudders with delight:

As far as Carnival Games, I picked it up today as a surprise for my son and daughter. It's a minigame collection, with tickets and unlockables and all those things that I generally find myself really bored by in video games.
We played it for about four hours. It's just plain fun. There isn't a lot of humor (unless you count the carny comments, which aren't as funny as those you might hear at a real parking lot carnival) or creativity; it's simply fun. Some of the games suck, but the ones you like are as addicting as any Atari or NES game you ever played just to see if you could get a higher score. Is it really worth $40? Seeing as how we also own Rayman and Mario Party and Wii Play and none of those prompted a straight four hour session, I would have to say yes. *Edited to add I forgot about Wario...I personally think Wario is the better game, but my kids are STILL playing Carnival Games, so if you have kids, I'd choose this one. The only other review I could find online had a mention of the reviewers' kids asking if they could play it all night, and mine have seconded that. |
I nearly bought Carnival Games today. Guess I need to get it.

And mine died. Disc errors plague my system. I wonder if one of my kids stuck something in it. :( Now I have to call Nintendo. Good thing it's only a little over 3 months old. |
A game room compilation would be awesome. Air hockey (Wii Play has Neon Hockey but I want the one with the blue table with white lines and off-white scratched paddles :D), whack-a-mole, shoot-the-pennies, billiards, darts, etc.

I gotta be honest that I've been worried about playing Metroid 3 because LA has been hot for the last few days. |

... I noticed my SD card was missing and if I shook the Wii there was a rattle sound. I turned the Wii to its side, popped in a GCN disc and when it errored and ejected it the wedged SD card was pushed out first. All is well... and the Wii is being moved out of reach. |

I still remember my son putting a fork inside my 6 disc CD changer years ago. Took me awhile to figure out why disc 1 wouldn't play.
My Wii is in easy reach of my daughter. I may think about moving it. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...e/DSCN0927.jpg |
The culprit was my 3-year-old.
He finally cracked after several minutes of questioning... He's serving hard time right now. I'm such a mean dad. |
I picture the poor guy sitting under a bright lamp in a dark room getting grilled about it.
Poor kid. |

Looks like I'll go back and get it. |
At cag.com there were some people who picked up Carnival games and so far, nothing negative and that it's pretty good. I picked it up from Blockbuster today with some store credit, unfortunately I won't be able to try it out till next week.

Went and got Carnival Games from Best Buy with the 10% off coupon from another thread.
Initial reaction... I do not like the controls and the waiting in between turns is horribly repetitive. The games are more chance than anything else (and they are that way in real life, I know, so why complain). And to top things off, my wife and were playing the Competitive Mode (Head to Head) and every time that we select Fortune Way or Payloader Place the transition goes down to the small circle, we hear crowd noises and then it hangs... and never comes back out of it. We have tried this 5 or 6 times and the same result happens every time. Anyone else heard of this problem? We're going to try the single mode and see if we can get to those games. But besides the problem we're having, I'm not impressed with Carnival Games. |
Gameplay video...
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8onNGvhFK1E"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8onNGvhFK1E" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> It looks OK I guess...but I wouldn't pay $40 for it. |

My opinion now: Single Player  | Multi Player  | Worth: $25

No VC games for today? Maybe it's because of Labor Day.

4 games today.
Adventure Island (NES®, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Comic Mischief, 500 Wii Points): A mysterious tropical paradise known as Adventure Island is the setting for this side-scrolling action game. The evil Witch Doctor has kidnapped Tina, the true love of Master Higgins. To save her, you must safely guide Master Higgins through eight perilous stages - including dense forests and creepy caves - while defeating all of the enemies in your path. Each area is made up of four rounds filled with enemies determined to stop you in your tracks. In addition, as time passes, Master Higgins's vitality is automatically drained. To keep going, he must eat constantly by grabbing fruit, milk and whatever other goodies he can as he races toward his goal. Sometimes eggs containing miraculous items like axes to throw at enemies or honey that grants temporary invincibility will appear. Use items skillfully to help you clear the areas. At the end of each area you'll face the Witch Doctor, who you must defeat to advance. Go, Master Higgins, go! Donkey Kong Jr. Math (NES, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Learning can be fun, especially when you play along with Donkey Kong Jr. Practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by directing Junior, a cute little monkey who must climb up and down vines to collect numbers and math symbols to solve the math problems his father gives him. Compete with a friend in a race to solve problems in Game A or add more challenge with Game B. Of course, you can also practice on your own. This game is perfect for younger players who are looking for a fun and easy way to develop their math skills. Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole™ (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): After hearing of the legendary treasure of King Nole, the elvish treasure hunter Nigel undertakes a quest to gather various pieces of the famed loot. His journey takes him through Mercator Island's villages, caves and dungeons that hold King Nole's riches. Along the way, he'll have to help the inhabitants of the island while fighting against the treachery of Duke Mercator, who is searching for the treasure as well. A variety of obstacles and foes will try to deter Nigel, who must use all his wits and skills to defeat Duke Mercator and uncover the secret of King Nole's treasure. Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone - Comic Mischief, 600 Wii Points): The hard-headed hero is back for more side-scrolling action in the third installment of the popular Bonk series. It's up to Bonk once again to thwart the plans of the relentless evil King Drool. There are seven rounds scattered throughout the Dinosaur Kingdom, each one filled with fun contraptions and comical enemies. Grab a Flower Copter or exchange 16 Smileys at the end of each round to play up to eight different bonus stages. Or you can change the size of Bonk by grabbing the new red or blue candy items. Depending on the situation, you can change your size to bonk your way through a dead end or to get a hard-to-reach item. And if that's not enough, you can grab a friend and put your heads together to defeat King Drool in the new two-player mode. |
