Probably. Either way, the Wii isn't the format of choice and I'm not surprised the sales are lack-luster. I bet they beat the crap out of GameCube sales from 03 or 04.

I wasn't saying buy any old crap to support WII 3rd party games but seeing that Madden 08 didn't really review that bad it would sell at least 100K. |
Madden 08 total sales as of August 18 (source: VGChartz)
1. Xbox360: 889,072 copies 2. PS2: 546,403 copies 3. PS3: 204,025 copies 4. Wii: 57,247 5. Xbox(!): 56,841 6. PSP: 39,170 |
880k for Xbox360!?? Unbelievable! That makes Wii look like shit, I guess. I hope the Wii version numbers don't grow...it'll just be more disappointed people.

PSP: 39,170 Xbox360 (6.75M): 13.17% attach PS3 (1.87M): 10.91% attach Wii (4.24M): 1.35% - So a PS3 owner is less likely to buy Madden than a 360 owner, but not by much. Given the "lack of games" on the PS3, this either means that they're buying them on the 360, not interested in Madden, or not interested in PS3 games (Blu-Ray owners). Even worse for the PS3 when you convert it to copies/fps: Xbox360: 14,818 copies per fps (60) PS3: 6801 copies per fps (30) |

The Wii is not a system where Madden (especially a watered down version of it) will sell well. I don't hold this one against Wii owners. |
I don't hold anything against Wii owners. I just hope it doesn't dissuade third party developers from entering or staying in the Wii market. Competition is good.

Where EA had to be crushed was the failure of Boogie. It reviewed and sold poorly and that was one game they probably expected to sell well. Bravo for gamers not buying crap. What developers will hopefully learn is they have to put effort into the games they bring to the Wii. That will benefit everyone. No one will abandon the Wii with the number of units it is selling. |

The Wii graphics were the least of Nintendo's interest. IMHO |

I don't think it has twice the power of the cube. It look pretty much like last gen graphic which isn't bad.
Madden for the Wii looks like a cube game to me and I saw hooked up with comp. cables. I just don't think it's fair to beat up developers, when the system designer were not focusing on graphic. |

The Wii graphics were the least of Nintendo's interest. IMHO Also looking at Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl, you can see that Wii is more powerful than the Gamecube. |
We're still at the point where many Wii games are last-gen ports or games that were switched to Wii at the last minute. Beginning with Metroid Prime 3 we'll see games that are build from the ground up to harness the power of the console.

The system is supposed to have twice the power of the GameCube; the Wii version of Madden 08 should NOT look like the PS2 version of Madden 05.

I think twice the power is a gross overestimation made early on by people hoping for better. Of course Nintendo did nothing to discourage this. What you have is basically a cube with an extra peripheral. Nothing more.
|
I have to agree with slop. I think the power is there, just no one is utilizing it yet.

Seems too gimmicky, like, "let's see all the crazy things we can use the wii-mote for"...
But who knows. |

But who knows. 2) Isn't that the point of the Wii-mote? It's why I bought a Wii. |
Wii slot started glowing blue. Wii mail listed a new update to prevent locking up while using internet connection and LAN issues. I got error message that current software is up to date. :( Nintendo must of jumped the gun on sending out messages of pending update.
My Wii list Ver. 3.0U has the current system software. |
That's actually an old update, from last week.

Yeah I didn't get "glowing blue Vah-jay-jay" this week so maybe it was an error. Did you guys do the upgrade a couple weeks ago?
|
I did the update a couple of weeks ago and then got the upgrade message again last week.
|
There was an upgrade a few weeks ago, but there was another one a few days ago too. I was changing my network settings, and was surprised that when I tested out the settings, I was getting another upgrade.
|
Just got another email from Amazon saying Mercury Meltdown was delayed yet again. Oct. 2 is the new date.

Mark McDonald at 1UP gave Metroid a 9.0. 1UP is generally considered one of the tougher reviewers and even a 7 from them is a very good score. Metroid getting a 9 is really a big deal.
