Not quite. I was surprised to discover that UbiSoft has created a MySpace page for the game, so you can check it out for the detailed info.

The final box art has no Wi-Fi logo, so take that as you will.

As for the second question, the Cube version, as awesome as it is, was pretty sparse. Even if they do a straight port, the portability factor would make the Cube version obsolete.. unless you don't have three friends with DSes, of course. I'd love for some good Bomberman style options and play modes, but my biggest wish is for them to yank out the Mario voices from the game.

Hrm, well myspace is blocked at work so i will have to try to remember to check it out when i get home.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though.

Also, for the poster who asked about FF3 versus Etrian - they are really nothing alike at all. FF3 is a standard Final Fantasy JRPG and Etrian is a old-school pretty brutal dungeon crawler. Etrian reminds me much more of the text based RPGs or some of those Rogue-like games.

I don't know about Etrian, though I'm thinking about giving it a try, but, FF3 is an old-school pretty brutal jrpg, and, not just a standard FF JRPG.

I thought i had read that FF3 was made a fair amount easier for the DS release. Did i just dream that up?

I haven't played FF3 myself but i have played some Etrian.

Well I think anyone who isn't used to the old NES role-playing games would find FF3 very hard. Since it was a NES game the world is really small. In newer RPG's the worlds are big enough so that when you go from one town to another you have enough space to level up. In a game like FF3 the towns are really close. You actually have to spend time in the world map walking back and forth just leveling which I think a lot of people aren't used to.

No, Final Fantasy III DS is very easy. Maybe not for the Final Fantasy VII/VIII/X crowd.. but I beat it without using the supposedly required black and white mages (except where needed in the case of all the annoying "mini" levels). I cannot fathom what would drive anyone to think of the game as difficult by any stretch.

Etrian Odyssey on the other hand..

Etrian kicks my arse. I have found it to be ridiculously hard and i think really puzzling out a good party combination will prove critical.

So is FF3 like the old classes from the earlier FF games? Bear in mind, the only FF game i have ever played was the very first one on the NES (well i believe it was the NES and not SNES, it was called Final Fantasy).

It just requires more time consuming leveling up like the original FF, etc, etc. It is definitely more difficult than the redone FFI or II (minus Hell in II). The only FF I liked after VI was IX, but, I still think FF III on DS is more challenging than other early versions, etc.

Totally, I restarted with a new party since the first one I made was pretty eccentric and it made things a lot smoother. I found that once I got past the First Stratum, the game seemed to be a little easier, probably only inasmuch that I had a better feeling for how things operated in the labyrinth and that my character started getting worthwhile improvements out of their skills. I just made it to the Third Stratum this week and I'm giving it a break until Sunday (I'll have a lot of DS time before the WWE PPV I'm going to).

Is that more wishful thinking or something out of PAX or pre-TGS info?

Some website (IGN?) said over the weekend that they had something to say about it on Monday.

I started a game of Rune Factory this weekend.. it's still pretty much the standard Harvest Moon, which I was never too into, but has the added dungeon RPG element.. which is what piqued my interest. I only got to play for a few game days before my friends came over for the night, but I think it could hold my interest for a bit. Of course, since my girlfriend bought it, she took it home with her (even though her DS is packed), so it looks like I'll only get to play on the weekends for now. I need to spend a little more time with it to decide, but I may buy my own copy so we can do the multi-player stuff, depending on what all that is.

Oh, I also ordered Heroes of Mana online.. but the reality of any new games I get right now is that Etrian Odyssey is still the best DS game ever and still going to be my primary application for the time being! I'm about tempted to create a whole second party out of the characters I didn't use in my first party. Yeah, the game really has me that enthralled.

August 27, 2007 - In 2005, IGN got hold of an official internal Nintendo software list that revealed a number of key DS games set to be announced in the future. All of the games on the list, including titles like Super Princess Peach, were eventually announced and released. All, that is, except for one -- a project known simply as Metroid Dread.

To this day, Metroid Dread, thought to be a traditional 2D sequel in the Metroid franchise designed specifically for Nintendo's dual-screen handheld, has never publicly been acknowledged by the mega-publisher. But an unofficial nod to the project has been found hidden within the 20-hour adventure of fantastic Wii first-person adventure Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, developed by Retro Studios.

Spoiler:
Players who journey deep enough into Samus Aran's Wii quest can use Aran's scan visor to read lore and lob enemies and objects. Doing just that on one mid-game world, we stumbled upon a panel with the following message, quoted verbatim below:

"Experiment status report update: Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion."

Only two conclusions can be drawn from this message. One, Nintendo is indeed still planning to release the DS game and gave Retro the okay to hint about it in Prime 3. Or, the Texas-based developer is just having a little fun at the expense of Dread hopefuls. Either way, it's a great hidden inclusion in Corruption and we could not resist kick-starting the Metroid Dread faith again.

Looks like the Red/Black DS won't be purchased anytime soon from me.

Looks like the LCD Screens are worse than previous DS Lite screens.

Only one report, but $150 is not something I want to gamble on when I have a perfectly fine DSlite(excluding hinge crack).

Wow, that's a must buy. I had no idea you could create anything you wanted or plug it into a guitar amp.

I seriously, seriously doubt that's specific to the red/black DS Lite. They use several different screens across different manufacturing plants. We've got over ten DSes in our group and almost all the screens have slightly different characteristics. I believe the black one I bought in January has that same poor viewing angle, but you only notice it if you turn it upside down and look at it from an unplayable angle. I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to LCD screens, and viewing angle is my biggest pet peeve, but it's just not an issue for the DS, unless you want to take pictures of it upside down. Maybe the specific bath out now is from the same plant, but I bet you can buy one near Christmas and have something entirely different even.. that's just the way the LCD game works, sadly.

Anyone know how limited the Brain Age bundle is? Looks like it may already be sold out in the stores I checked. I'm hoping for another shipment.

Well that's good to hear Pixy. Still a little less eager, but if I can unload mine, I may still bite.

Darkside, I see 'em everywhere. Is it labeled as limited?

Honestly, the LCD differences kind of vanish when you're actually playing a game, so if you want it for the design (and it does turn out to be limited), I'd say to pick one up. My pre-launch DS Lite had a PERFECT LCD screen. So when I lost it and bought one with a reduced viewing angle and slightly tinted touch screen, I was pissed. Plus, it was during an insane DS drought and the only place I could even find one to replace mine was a "No Return Policy" Blockbuster, so I was stuck with it. Until I saw this little news story, I had actually forgotten about it (other then noting the tint on the all white boot screen). And like I said, I'm a horribly picky person with LCDs.

The PSP is the same way too, every one I've played with has had varying degrees of viewing angle and ghosting differences.

No idea. The bundles usually don't last forever, but I figured it would be around a couple of months. I'll keep looking.

Question about the carrying case included in the Crimson/Black Brain Age 2 DS bundle: I've got a DS with one of those silicon "skins" protecting it. Can anyone tell me if the carrying case from the BA2 bundle will fit a DS already encased in a silicon skin, or will it only fit a "bare" DS? I have a feeling the latter is the case, but just in case ...
