Nintendo DS Thread - part VII

I played a few minutes of Diablo back in the day, knew that it could consume my entire life, so I quickly uninstalled it.
Now that I want a new game to consume my life, I think I want it to be on the DS so I can play at work also. And I want it to be exactly like Heroes of Might and Magic or Diablo.

I think Crystal Chronicles is probably your best best. It has all the drops that can keep you playing for awhile to try and unlock all the best armor and stuff kind of like Diablo and it is probably the closest gameplay wise to Diablo on the DS. Not exact, but if you like the drops in Diablo or WOW I think it is worth playing.

Pixy,
Thanks for the tips. I realized I have been hoarding a bit too much, kept thinking that I could hold off for one more round and I end up getting wiped out by something that I know I can defeat but I was too stubborn to use an item that would have vastly helped me on a floor.

I started to accept a lower level rescue request via wifi last night and it said i needed to go back to the Canton town to accept the request. That is the city that resets your level.
So Pixy, could you explain how making the rescues work? I thought that i could continue my current adventure and just backtrack or that it might spawn me in the needed area just to clear it and rescue the person.

Yup, you do have to be in (or go back to) Canyon Hamlet to start a rescue. Basically you talk to Hoi, select the rescue you want to embark on and he'll throw you into the dungeon. There's a few minor differences when you're doing a rescue (more notable the further down the rescue is) but I won't spoil anything. If you're past floor 15 you can't go back to Canyon Hamlet regardless, otherwise it's not really a big deal going back to level 1. You'll want to start taking advantage of the warehouses eventually.

Here's a very enthusiastic review for Bangai-O Spirits. Sounds fucking great!
Does anyone know when this comes out State-side? Or should I just go ahead and import it?

I beat Crystal Chronicles tonight. It took me about 11 hours to complete, but I took my time through some of the dungeons. Overall, I really enjoyed it but it isn't perfect. I noticed some A.I. problems and some framerate slowdown. Also, the ending is way too drawn out.
I picked up a copy of Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword today, but I've yet to play it.

I beat one of the bonus dungeons of Shiren over the weekend, the Scroll Cave. It took me a while to figure out how to even get experience in there, I've also got access to two more bonus dungeons. So that's five bonus dungeons, one completed. I think this might secure a top spot in my DS library along with Etrian Odyssey.

It's well worth trying. I only got to play it for about 25 minutes, but I had a lot of fun with it.

I'm really enjoying Ninja Gaiden. I put in about 2hrs last night and have no issues with it. I can't believe the graphics and game play developers continue to get out of the DS.

Hi there,
since the end of February I"m in New York and regarding to games I only saw some Game Stop stores until now. Are there any other good/cheap stores? And has that Nintendo World Store nice stuff I should take a look at?

GameStop, Best Buy or Circuit City are your best bets for new games. I'm sure there's some New Yorkers here that can recommend good used game places there.

I put some more time into Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword last night and I'm still enjoying it, although it is getting to be repetitive. The only problem I've noticed is that it's hard to sometimes pull off the slash moves - a lot of the time, the game will just register that you're trying to throw shurikens.

Gah! I found a Happy Armband on Floor 1 of the Kitchen God dungeon on Shiren!! I don't know if that'll give me the edge to finally beat that bastard, but I do have finally have some proper strategies prepared (lots of those pumpkin ghosts meats = killing super strong monsters behind walls where they can't touch you). Of course, I'm expecting something vile to take me by surprise like another landmine trap followed by a normally easily to blow off arrow of a Bowboy.

You are good. I'm starting to get tired of getting killed off by stupid things right after I get rescued so I'm putting the game down and going on to something else for awhile. The game just frustrates the hell out of me and I feel like an idiot for asking to be rescued so many times. I guess I need to stay away from Shiren for a couple of weeks. I might even go back to Etrian, which of course is another story.
