I loved my older Gameboys, especially the retro like collections and games, and the first Advance Wars. I forgot, does the DS play older GB or GBA games?

If you are thinking about selling the first Advance Wars, I wouldn't mind buying it from you.

Well darn. I was going to buy one on amazon to use my Borders credit. It looks like the DS Lite black one is the one to get?

Amazon had them a couple days ago, but now they appear to be oos and only available from sellers.

I was going to get my mom a DS.. so I might have to grab that new one if it's like the Crimson/Black one and has a matte bottom half and I'll give her my old one. I wish they would make an all matte DS Lite.. though I guess I have the option of an after-market replacement casing.

I really liked the crimson/black, but damn the cobalt/black is even cooler looking.

Why yes i do. It was a gift from my wife, and in her words "If you are a grown-ass man carrying a DS around with you the color is the least of your worries."

It also amuses me the looks i get when someone sees me playing the thing.

edit: This summer my intention is to hand it down to my daughter when she turns four and buy myself a new one. I have a few DS games she has loved playing from the age of 3 and on.

Are they still replacing the DS lite if the hinge cracked? I noticed mine has one now, but what do you do just contact Nintendo or some other way?

Agreed, she was actually referring to the fact that another friend had gotten me on it earlier. The GB Advance was released almost a year earlier in Japan than in the US. I had a friend living in Japan who said he would send me one.

The box arrives at my house and i tear into it to discover he sent me a "milky pink" GBA with a picture of him flipping me off while sticking his tongue out at me taped to the box.

This next DS i will be buying on my own.

edit: Has anyone heard anything about there being a new iteration of the Lite in the works? I heard it mentioned in passing on a podcast but have seen nothing else online about this.

heh, I'm still playing on my old gray and black DS Phat. It's funny how a lot of casual people have no idea what system it is now. They think its a new DS lite.

I did hear a rumor that they were working on one with no GBA slot and built in memory so it could download games from the Virtual Console. and a bigger screen. That would make a lot of sense to me and be inline with what they seem to be moving towards. Either way I'm sure they have at least another redesign in mind if not a brand new system. I think they might be worried about timing. I think if another redesign comes it would have to be this year to allow enough time before the next game boy. But then again the redesigned NES SNES and GBA micro came after the next iteration was already out.

Another proud member of the Pink DS club. Was a b-day present and apparently it was the only color on hand.

I 'manned it up' by putting it in a black Nerf case.

Nope, he knew what it was. He even asked me if it was the Lite or original even though I had it in the description of the item that it was the original.

Since TRU has the cobalt blue in their Sunday ad and I have about $30 in giftcards, what's the chance of me scoring one at opening? It shouldn't be that hard, should it? I'd rather give them my money than pre-ordering it through GS.

I don't think you'll have a problem at all scoring that new DS at opening. I remember seeing the crimson/black one quite abundantly in the days and weeks after it came out.

I doubt you have to worry about a whole new influx of wannabe DS owners how just couldn't stand white, black, pink, or red/black.

I've already preordered my Cobalt DS. I sold my original DS Phat to a buddy of mine that was being deployed to Iraq for 50 bucks, with the intention of buying a DS Lite. I don't know about where you are, but I can't find ANY within 100 miles of me, or even online without paying a ridiculous markup.
