Miyu, I'm wondering if the dungeon it sent me to was the same one you played in. Did you die in a mini monster house? Because that's where I found your carcass rotting. There were lots of good scrolls you could have used (first a sleep or confusion, then a blastwave since there were like four up to that floor). Also, for the mini monster houses, you can enter them and take on step back to the corridor and let them come at you one at a time, though the pair of Popwave Tanks in there were definitely trouble.

Sadly enough i died yet again 2 levels deeper (i think only one away from the village) Now i'm just trying to make it to the village to sell stuff and get some new items.

My Wi-Fi code is: 2449-4378-5175
When i hit the next level down (where i died) there was one big open room with like 15 monsters. I hit them with a blastwave and confusion that took out most of them. Some knight kept leveling up though and was really speedy - ran up and one hit killed me (i had my full 70+ hp). Pretty crazy.

Wow, interesting. That would fall in line with the rumor of Nintendo updating the DS with a bigger screen, built in memory for downloading and getting rid of the GBA slot.
I wonder if they'll do this or just work on a true next gen portable.

From there you can move on to the harder ones if you like the genre.
What about dungeon games less rogue-like and more RPG I guess? Something Baldur's Gate or Diablo-like. Any recommendations?
And since I'm in a query-like mood, I'll ask again if anyone knows anything about Disciples 2? It was supposed to come out over a year ago. I'd love a HOMM like game on the DS.

I got four new games.
I'm -really- digging Shiren. Just made it through the first level (with infinite HP/funds, of course
). I'm liking a lot more than I thought. I hated Etrian Odyssey (I know, I know, blasphemy, and I also had unlimited everything for that one) so I was thinking this was going to be more of the same. It's a bit Mario RPG-ish (which is a good thing).
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin - click Left, get another move for top 4 units and replenished HP
REALLY loving this one, and I wasn't really into #s 2 and 3. However I did put over 100 hours into the original GBA Advance Wars, replaying it many many times. #4 feels more like the original one. Loving it.
Anno 1701 - haven't figured out what to do yet but I've only played it for 2 minutes. Unlimited funds/wood/etc of course
Sega Superstars Tennis - haven't popped it in yet. I play mostly at work, and will get some quality time with all games this coming Sun-Mon-Tue night.
I'm still playing Picross. I've finished every level twice now, and I'm in the process of doing all the downloadable ones (over halfway done). Also been playing a lot of Neves.

I don't want to tell anyone how they should enjoy their games but it really blows my mind that someone would be having fun while using all the cheats on a Nethack-style game. The whole genre is based around item management and the tough decisions that come with a risk/reward system. To have unlimited HP would seem to basically negate all of the actual gameplay and just leave the storyline. In rogues the storyline is typically pretty dumb. I have no clue why Shiren is wandering other than he wants to find some bird that you can make wishes on. I can't imagine playing it for the story.

There are two reasons why I still enjoy games even with 100% cheats. 1. The button mashing is relaxing, and helps me pass the time at work. Some days I can get 4-5 straight hours of gaming in.
2. Even though I had 100% health, I still went through the whole game, and there's a sense of accomplishment in finishing it because I could have had 100% cheats and never played the game
The sense of accomplishment is not diminished in the least.
Four new games and what do I play? Picross and Neves. Sigh
Haven't even touched Sega Tennis yet.

People are just different. I know someone who doesn't want to play the Advance Wars on the DS because he doesn't have an action replay or something similar. To me I think cheating devices are less needed now then they were in the past. Now the difficulty level is much more balanced. Unlike some games in the 8 bit era which were literally impossible to beat without cheating.

But to each their own. Hell, i spent large amounts of time in multiplayer Gears just trying to tag people with a smoke grenade so i can get behind someone making their own fun.

It really just depends on the time you want to invest in a game. I got to play a borrowed copy of House of the Dead on Wii to see if I wanted to buy it and was completely pissed to find we only got to continue 5 times. I have zero interest in playing the same 1/4 of the game over and over to become an expert so I can move a little further each time. I just wanted to play through each one and use all the continues I need just like at the arcade. I would have loved to have a cheat code for that game. I ended up playing it once and blowing the game off. Basically a lost sale because they limited the continues.

Can I add you to my friend list for Shiren? I'm having a miserably hard time with the game. The furtherest dungeon I reached is the one right after Bamboo Village and then I die. And I'm curious what are your tips for success for Shiren since you got so far in the game?

While I agree that even above other games, cheating on Shiren is absolutely, insanely, utterly pointless, I'm still happy it received another sale. Another sale, another point towards Shiren 3 coming out in English. I think Sega will release it regardless since the Wii has yet to have much in the RPG department (but they're coming).
I've been doing random rescue runs on GameFAQs but I finally posted my own rescue request since I made it pretty far down into the Kitchen God Dungeon with some pretty good stuff and I died thinking I could take on a leveled up Bladegator which took me out completely from full HP (they have three attacks leveled up). So while waiting for that I brook out Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja again. Wow, what a difference. It's like playing Shiren with the testicles removed. Or maybe it's structured like Mystery Dungeon: Torneko in that there's a handful of "trainer" dungeons before the real deal.

Some tips, let's see. You're not making it very far at all. What seems to be giving you trouble? If it's hunger, remember that eating herbs and weeds fills you up a little bit and also if you find a Hide Shield, equip that rather than a stronger shield since it halves the speed of the hunger rate. What I tend to do is wear a Hide Shield and equip a stronger one when I come across strong enemies. For some more general tips you have to play this game with what it gives you, don't hoard items. If you're surrounded, use a scroll or try to get into a corridor so you can take them on one at a time. Take things slow. If you're low on HP after killing something, hold down A+B to rest and restore your HP. Remember to use arrows. Most enemies will only take two hits so if something is coming at you, shoot an arrow at it, then let it come to you and hit it to finish it off. This is especially important later on for enemies that can affect your max stats or can hypnotize you. Learn what the staffs do, when you get an unidentified staff, swing it once at an enemy to find out what it does and then name it. Remember that an empty staff can be thrown at an enemy for one last use.

I'm digging on it pretty hard right now. This run is going well - up to level 9 or 10 and have a Polearm +4 that has been plated.

Shiren isn't Diablo-like at all.
It is a straight up prettied up version of Nethack imo. (note: I only say Nethack because it was the first and only Rogue i ever played and i certainly played the crap out of that game)
I haven't seen anything that is like Diablo with the skill trees and hack & slash gameplay. Hell, i haven't even seen something decent like Diablo on the PC or any other system either.
Man oh man i loved Diablo II.
