That game looks like a blast, only problem is that it is short and I'm guessing the replay value isn't too high.

That's why I'm renting. :)
I did get it today. I'll post impressions when I get some time with it. |
I'm looking forward to the FullMetal Alchemist trading card game. It got good previews on IGN as being a pretty deep strategic card battler.

Duck Amuck:
Graphics: Great. Simplistic and actually very true to the original animation. The mini-games are stylish and effective. It feels like you are in the cartoon. Sound: Great. The game is full voice and Daffy's voice is as accurate as the animation. Mini-Games: Great. They are very simplistic in nature though. Somewhere between micro and mini-games, but very original and fit with the Looney Tunes IP. They didn't just shove Daffy into a bunch of irrelevant mini-games. They also make use of the DS quite effectively and aren't generic games shoehorned into stylus play. The mini-game where you close the DS made me realize how much I rely on the DS's low power mode. Twice I killed the battery on my DS by just shutting the lid forgetting that the feature is disabled in this game. Replay Value: I haven't tried out MP but I can't imagine there being much to it. I've unlocked all but a couple of the mini-games in probably 2 hours worth of play. There are Tokens to collect(1 per mini-game) and if I knew what to look for from the beginning I'd have a lot more than the half I do. It adds a little replay value, but not much. Overall: Definite rental. Look at that in the "glass is half full" way. Definitely check out this game, it's just not worth spending much money on. The concept of turning the original cartoon(stark white background with just Daffy) and just pissing of Daffy was a brilliant idea, that has given us (well, at least, me) the best Looney Tunes game since the SNES days. Even if you find yourself sick of mini-game collections, Duck Amuck is well worth spending a few hours with. The design, animation, voice-work, mini-games and humor are all top notch. It is especially funny & cool that Daffy is self aware that he is in the DS making references to the screens, power, user and such. It's just not a substantial game that will eat away a lot of your time. It's perfect if you need a game you can play in quick bursts though. |
Thanks for the review. I'll pick it up when it hits the bargain bin or the next trade in deal.

Picked up my copy of the new Phoenix Wright with little Wright plush keychain. I'm hooked again. The gameplay is the same, but the script is once again hilarious. Can't wait till we get the Apollo Justice one made for the DS.
|
I also picked up Phoenix Wright 3 yesterday. Surprisingly, EB here in Canada has it for US pricing, and there is also a $5 off coupon. Came out to $24.99 plus tax, so I'm very happy with that.

In regards to the DS, is been awhile since I played it or purchased a game since I'm very busy at work. |
Just curious but why does this thread float while the other consoles have stickies?
Shouldn't this be a sticky as well? |
The PSP and DS threads float because they hold that there's not enough traffic to make them stickies (and they can't sticky one without the other due to brand fairness).

Anyone else playing the Fullmetal Alchemist Trading Card game on the DS? I'm kind of digging it right now.

But what do I know -- I'm not a mod. |

Any new news on that vocabulary game Ubisoft is making? It looked kind of fun.
