Re: Resident Evil 5

Looks rad.

I just bought RE5 for PS3 finally last week. Already at 4-2 and Online Co-Op is too fun.

I'll probably pick up Gold in March if I can find it cheap.

If memory serves, the added stuff is going to be released separately as DLC for those who already own RE5.

Re: Resident Evil 5

$5 for about an hour's worth of completely new content... I may bite, as this looks like it might be better than the main game.

I like it. Looks more in-line with the original games.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I'm pretty sure it's the same exact controls as RE5, since it's based off the same engine.

since it is predating the events in 5 would it be any spoilers to play this first? wondering if maybe i get the dlc and if like it, get psyched back up to continue with RE 5 (at least with the dlc i won't have to keep popping discs in and out) after my Halo saga concludes.

It's a spoiler for an obvious plot twist in RE1, that's about it.

Re: Resident Evil 5

^ oh ok. never played through the original, so it wouldn't affect me.

also, just realized you do in fact need the game in the machine to play this. why is that? why isn't it just a separate game that can be accessed from HD?

Re: Resident Evil 5

It's DLC. I've never seen DLC that didn't require the original game.

It also uses content and objects from from the game which will need to be loaded off the game disc.

now, with the game loaded, can i play the DLC without having played much at all of the game or do i need to finish it before? like it would just be an option on the start up screen.

I didn't get the DLC, but I'm pretty sure it'll be an option in the main menu, allowing you to play it before finishing the main game.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I hear you need to beat chapter 3-1 to play the DLC.

I enjoyed it, you can even play it with classic RE camera angles. But I'm more involved with RE in the new direction it's taken. I have 6 games in the old style, I don't want anymore. Still a nice little homage to first game.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Picked up the DLC, ran through it in about 45 minutes. Nothing special to report.

Well, RE 6 is rebooting things, so expect more change. I prefer the old games.

Re: Resident Evil 5

The info's about a year old, but it can be found here. Given that RE6 may not happen for several years, I'd say nothing's set in stone at this point.

Yep, here it is. I doubt they'd back off from their comments though.

The next instalment in the Resident Evil series will be a full franchise reboot, Capcom's Resi dev team has said.

Speaking to US site 1UP, producer Jun Takeuchi said Resident Evil 5 is likely to be the last of its kind, which is sure to please reviewers who've complained of its glaring similarities to the previous game.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Weren't Resident Evil's 1-3 horror survival titles?

What the hell happened here?

The trend of eliminating horror elements started in Resident Evil 4, but in this game, it's just unbearable. It's just an over bloated action game!

I hate to say it, but this title pretty much sucks and has lousy controls!

Playing Resident Evil in '95 at least game me a few jumps late at night. No jumps here...

This title is a major disappointment!

You have 6 games in the series in the old style.

I love the new direction it's taken.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I love the direction the series went with RE4. As a matter of fact, not only is RE4 one of my favorite games of the series, it's in my top ten all-time.
I can't wait to play through the DLC, looks interesting with the fixed camera option.

Re: Resident Evil 5

So I just picked this up tonight for PS3. Having played the demo and RE4 I knew it didn't feel as good but I decided to give it a go anyway since I was able to grab a new copy for 19.99. If anyone is up for playing on PS3 sometime send me a message. CardiffGiant11 (and yes I have a headset unlike oh so many on PSN)
