My launch 360 (Built 12-7-2005) finally died on me. Started the replacement process tonight. Hopefully I won't be down too long.

Oh one question. Are they still repairing 360 or are they replacing units with the HDMI version?

Well, I just bought one tonight WHOOOO HOOOOO!!! Finally got one, first game is Bioshock.

Anyway, I asked the guy at the store if these were the "improved" 360's and he said no but he showed me what's called an "Intercooler" it cost an extra $19.99 so no big deal, it snaps on the back outlet nice easy - takes two seconds to put on only problem? I have to return the damn thing tomorrow because my male connection on the power cord would not fit into the adapter - I didn't want to use too much force either - what really sucks?? It was the last damn one they had.

Get your money back for the intercooler. It's usefullness is up for debate, and not worth your $20 IMO.

I sounds like you did get one of the new Falcon 360's. The 175w power supply connector is different and will not fit the intercoolers. Good job!

Really!? Anyway I can confirm this? I'm looking through the manuals and can't find anything.

The guy on the phone said they'd try to repair it. If that doesn't work, they'll send a new one or if they're out of stock a refurbished one. Doubt it'll have HDMI though.

The rattle is the sensor that alerts the 360's display as to if it's laying horizontally or vertically.

Do not shake your Xbox 360.

There have also been reports of intercoolers causing issues

So on Friday I reported my unit was broken. I got my empty box yesterday and my package according to UPS arrived today. I checked on the status on the xbox website and it says still waiting for unit. So far so good. I hope I get a new unit but I guess if they fix my old one that would be fine as well.

Got my 360 back today and its the same one I sent in. However, as soon as I turned it on I got some messages about updating the console or some other crap like that. Everything seems to be working fine. The only thing I have yet to test out is whether or not I can access my DLC when I'm not logged into Live.

12/22/07 - Console RROD and I called for coffin
01/02/08 - Coffin arrives
01/03/08 - Shipped coffin to MS
01/16/08 - 360 returns home

Took about 3 and a half weeks. Again, it wasn't so bad because my friends brought their 360s over to play Rock Band during that time.

1/3/08 - Console RROD and I called for coffin
1/11/08 - Coffin arrives
1/12/08(Sat) - Shipped coffin to Texas(MS) (WFT MS UPS Ground)
1/17/08 - Arrivals in MCAllen TX

Now let see how fast the repair and return is.

Unbelievable. My 360 arrived yesterday, and while I was playing some Rock Band, it froze on me. I thought no big deal, so I turned it back on, tried to play again, and halfway through a song I got the checkerboard pattern on the screen and the console froze again. When I tried to restart, it doesn't completely turn on. The green light in the middle of the Ring of Light comes on, but that's it. The Ring of Light doesn't have the circling green light like it usually does when it powers up. Sure, its not the RROD, but its still a defective console.

I tried calling MS last night to complain and get another replacement, but didn't realize they weren't open 24 hours. I've also tried submitting my claim online, but the service page always errors on me when I put in my console's serial number.

They should probably give people new units if it happens more than once.

Yeah, when I called today the woman I spoke to said they were just going to set up an exchange rather than a repair.

Well mine died today for the second time. The second one lasted me all of five months. Damn Microsoft for making such a shitty product with excellent software so I don't want to switch to PS3

Question:

The two papers that come with the coffin; the additional request paper and the packing instructions paper.

I didn't include the additional request paper with my shipment as it was stuck to the packing instructions paper - when I did see it, I just saw spanish instructions so I tossed it aside, only realizing later, after I shipped it, that it had english instructions on the other side. :P

Will that delay my request at all? They know it died from RRoD when I submitted my claim.

I wasn't shaking it, but I heard it when I unpacked it. Thanks for the info though, makes me feel better.

Since your serial number will be in the system I doubt it will matter in the long run.

When I sent my system I taped an index card with my info to the console, then wrapped it and stuck the other sheet they give you to the outside of the plastic like they tell you. I wasn't taking any chances and figured it wouldn't hurt in case they tossed the plastic away.

My unit is scheduled to get to me on 01/22/2008 so it only took a little over a week for me to get it back.

So this serial number last 5 means 2006 and the 22nd week of the year correct? I am surprised I am getting such an old unit. Oh well I just hope it works.
