Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

I'm loving it so far but..... my career isn't going so well, lol. I'm 0-3 man. I've made it to the third round, but keep getting knocked out right towards the end. I'm enjoying it though and if anyone want's to give online a go add me as a friend.

So I just said forget it since I had alot of stuff with me and it was a hassle to go back and look for a UFC DVD that I probably have, since I buy every release that comes out.

Anybody knows what date they said they were going to make ryan bader & efrain escuedero(sp?) available to the public?

This game is pretty fantastic. Haven't started a career yet, but the fights that I have had have been a blast (mainly involving whooping the shit out of Chuck).

I have been having some amazing fights online my record is only 3-6. I just came across some dude who was on a 9 match win streak, and he was undefeated. He beat me in 45 seconds what a embarrassing loss, I must go train more.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

I picked this up based only on what I read in this thread. Couple this with the Best Buy deal and it was pretty hard to pass up.

Then I played the game for the first time yesterday. The tuturial mode is pretty long winded but helpful. The game itself is fantastic. I was worried about how the ground game would be and they've done a magnificent job. I do find that it's hard to submit someone though. I was BJ Penn and I fought Joe Daddy 3 times in a row only because I wanted to submit him. Each time I tried for a sub he broke out. I tried my best to wear him down and everytime I did I ended up knocking him out. I'm sorry but if you're getting your ass kicked for a round and half, you're not breaking out of a BJ Penn triangle choke.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

I made a light heavyweight fighter with Muay Thai/Judo and i am not doing so well so far. I have a 1-2 record. I really suck at the clinch game so i have been trying to play more a stand up distance fighter and it isn't working out really well. My one win was when i kept driving my opponent to the ground and playing a ground and pound style fighter.

I definitely need to work on my countering and clinch game. I also need to train up my cardio and speed ASAP. My fighter feels like he is in molasses compared to playing the Liddell in the demo.

It is not just you. Menus and load times are my only real complaint about the game.

I wonder if installing it would help? (obviously on the 360)

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

I went light heavyweight with kickboxing/wrestling but only had time to play that initial bout at the very beginning of the career mode. Out of curiosity: I didn't see a difficulty setting. Is there one in the career mode?

I thought career mode scales up as you get further along. So you progress through the difficulties.

My fighter is 7-2 in career mode. Lost the first match then won 6 and then lost to some big mean guy. My fighter is also Muay Thai. I put the majority of the my skills into fists and legs offense. I haven't come across a need to use the ground game yet. I can usually beat down the fighters enough.

That's what I read (here I think), but I'm pretty sure I changed the difficulty after starting career mode. Just hit Start from the main career screen I think.

My brother came over last night and we played some, and twice he submitted me after getting his ass kicked for most of the round - my guy was gassed from pounding on him, and he got me on the ground and I couldn't get out. I've got to figure out how to get out of submissions technically.

My career guy is a boxer/wrestler, and so far I've been putting everything into standup offense, clinch offense, and the rest all in defense. I took submission offense all the way down to 1, since it was probably not going to come into play anyways. And for the strength/speed/cardio, I started them all at 20, and have been doing nothing but cardio training. Hopefully it's a good plan.

Great point. I'm looking forward to some big-name matches and hope they're at least somewhat realistic. My copy's on the way from buy.com...

I did this same strategy and it will work good for you in the beginning... but as you progress through the career the guys will start using the ground game a lot. Keep up your defense with the ground game.

I wish I knew more about how this game worked. I got my strike and kick offense up to 70 and I was knocking a lot people out but then I'll hit a wall and I'll lose one or two and then win again.

I seemed to have reached the ceiling on training. Strength at 95 and Cardio at 85. Has this happened to anyone else?

Does anyone have the Hall of Fame achievement? I went 29-5 on the hardest difficulty and it didn't pop.

Seems to still be a question on the xbox achievements forum; did you get to a point where you beat it? Or do you just retire?

After 7 years, Dana forces you to retire.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Grr at the menu's and matchmaking, at least on PS3. I can live with getting my ass handed to me online by certain people who seem to just magically punch through everything I do, but I can't stand losing in a minute and then having it take 5 minutes to get into another match. Even Street Fighter 4 wasn't this bad.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

It really speeds things up nicely saving game to hard drive, though it still has to save like 3 times for some reason.

I like re-creating the classic matches, though some achievements would be nice along the way. As Liddell I KO'd Tito in the third round, the only one I've done so far.

I still don't know exactly what to do when I knock a guy down. How do I jump him fast before he gets right back up? I did all the training on the demo and am loathe to do it all again, but probably will anyway...

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

From a striking distance you quickly step and hit a punch to do a flying punch to the head and land in closed guard (iirc). Then you can start working your way through the various positions.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

So far my main complaint about the game is the oddly labyrinthine menu system. I have gamed almost my entire life from PCs to consoles and it still took me going into the help files to figure out how to put a sponsor logo on my trunks to get the boost in cred.

I have also got to specifically pick a trainer in certain styles at least 3 times now but i think i missed when the "camp" was on the calendar so they could teach me new techniques. It is just confusing.

I did determine that when it allows you to buy a piece of exercise equipment (to add to your gym) you get a permanent boost each time you train from that equipment. Since i have been training cardio a good bit i got a treadmill. Now when i do intensive cardio training it boosts my cardio by 4 instead of the normal 3.

Now i just need more equipment.

I also got the achievement for getting a KO while gassed last night. Ground and pound baby.

However, does anyone know how you get the training achievement? I did the first part of the guided tutorial one night. Finished it up the second night and nothing unlocked. Do i need to do it all in one sitting? Is there some other training thing i am missing?

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Been playing online, basically every flash ko results in a disconnect I've been using this one technique to nail them alot, watch someone get in a pattern then block and slowly step back, as soon as they try the same move again whack em with a kick to the head

If you are on the 360 kick me a FR with a message telling me you are DVDTalk. I'm happy to fight online and lose without disconnecting.
