Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

You select height and weight (which in turn puts you in your set and unchangeable weight class)
This is disappointing. If it is correct it means you can't make a fighter who can jump between weight classes which even Fight Night allowed you to do.

$53 shipped - http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...606947&loc=108 - both 360 and PS3 versions.

The other deals out there seem to be $10 off a future UFC PPV if you buy from Best Buy, and a $10 eGift Card or something like that from Walmart. Both have it at $60.

The graphics, I gotta say, I pretty amazing. Huge depth of fighters and this one looks pretty dang good...

Pretty good reviews so far. I'll be getting it Tuesday.

One thing that was disappointing to read - no fighter entrances. They just start in the cage like in the demo.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

game should be good, but found these little flaws on another forum:

1. 10 Nicknames:
El Toro
The Grim Reaper
The Fury
The Headhunter
Razor Sharp
Hands of Stone
The Doctor
Quick Silver
Big Nasty
The Buzzsaw

2. you HAVE to pick one of the 10

3. Heavyweight max weight is 235

4. by year 4 you end up fighting the same 3 fighters over and over til you end your career

5. there's no cpu vs. cpu

6. you can't change the difficulty in career it progresses as you go

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Online there are only a handful available, but the ad shows a couple that aren't included online, so I would imagine there should be a decent selection? I've never bought a UFC DVD before - which ones are typically the best?

Just choose one that has the fighters you like on it. Each event has its highs and lows.

Took advantage of the BB deal; picked up the Best of 2007 DVD; it was between that and the knockouts DVD for me.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

I'm as excited for this as anything in a long, long time. I've probably put more hours into the demo alone than most of the games on my shelf. It's the first sports/fighting game in forever that feels fresh, like it's not a rehash of an older system or game. I'm about 60-40 against the computer on expert with either Liddell or Rua. I didn't learn Rua's clinch game until recently, and Liddell got considerably more reasonable to handle.

A couple of little nitpicks are that it's WAYYYYY too easy to pass from closed guard to mount when you're fighting Rua. I'm pretty sure I know exactly how to prevent the pass and try to keep working my way back to guard, but he mounts almost directly from guard. However, it's also WAYYYY too easy to get out of mount with Liddell. Also, a few too many haymakers land without the requisite damage. But other than that, it's fantastic. I think my week is going to disappear into career mode.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

The guys on the ListenUP podcast were heaping praise on this game on Friday's show.

Not my bag, but I thought you guys might be interested. The show is on 1UP.com.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

I think I'll probably just do a light heavyweight for career mode, since there are so many more well known fighters at that weight. Plus that way I can kick the shit out of Tito.

There are actually quite a few decent heavyweights in the game as well, since Sylvia and Arlovski are there. No Couture though, right?

You are right. I must beat down Ortiz. That will be my career weight as well.

In my career mode, I was 4-0 and Dana White asked me to fight Tito. So I went 5-0 and was in the top 10 after 5 fights. I wish the career mode was a little better thought out and executed.

The demo was like that if you kept the difficulty level down. Bumping it up gave the fighters some teeth.

I'm on advanced, but I am not talking about difficulty of fights. I am saying that I have five wins, only one against a name fighter and I am in the top 10 in career mode.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Here is IGN's review...7.6

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/984/984332p1.html

they basically said the cons are that fights are slow and presentation is not great. Almost every review has given it an 8 or above, and i think it deserves that. I don't even go with IGN's opinion anymore...i picked the game up couple of hours ago and having a blast.

Went with the Best buy deal even though I really wanted to get the 2 bonus fighters, bad....but how can I pass up 10$ ppv money, 10$ gift card & a dvd. Even though I got kinda screwed on the free dvd. I went up to the counter with the just today released UFC 93 and they showed the fine print in the ad that says UFC93 isn't part of the deal. So I just said forget it since I had alot of stuff with me and it was a hassle to go back and look for a UFC DVD that I probably have, since I buy every release that comes out.

Anybody knows what date they said they were going to make ryan bader & efrain escuedero(sp?) available to the public?
