I was expecting something to push their platforms higher and to build anticipation for something unknown and really exciting. We knew about all those games, we know when they come out, so its just waiting for them to arrive instead of anticipation. They both have to show something for the future, since people buy consoles based on whats out now and what is coming out as well. I think nintendo is just going after the casual person at this point rather then the hardcore gamers who made nintendo what they are today. And i think MS is terrified of nintendo and knows that they dont have much upcoming to wow most people other then the true hardcore gamers.

Thats why i expected some new hardcore gaming from nintendo thats non-franchise to draw people like me into the wii, and i expected something out of left field to bring people who havent been on the 360 train so far to jump in, like Killer Instinct 360 or something along those lines. But nope. Just your standard stuff. I watch the E3 conferences because every year, they have big surprises and build up momentom to the holiday season. MS/Nintendo didnt offer anything of the sort, to me, anyway. I really hope Sony wows us all. The Killzone 2 footage blew me away already, surpassing the old trailer in so many ways, especially the most important one: Its real.

We'll see in a few i guess.

11:32: Presentation starts. Montage of starts -- lots of weird shapes and colors with PSPs and button icons. Jack Tretton appears onscreen via his avatar in PlayStation Home. Looks a lot like him.

That square is much bigger than it is in the beta. Unless they updated it in the past few days.

11:33: Tretton hits on some virtual ladies in "Home Square" (an outdoor environment). Jack takes the stage, makes a joke about his waistline and fly -- hopes to moonwalk and throw some high-fives.

---------------------

on a side note, i might be the only one not looking forward to this avatar stuff

The avatars are fine (if they can be used in game ala Miis).. the rest of Home isn't very interesting to me though.
