Press Triangle and select display all. I don't think you can do anything useful on a PS3 without pressing triangle first.

I thought the controls on the demo were terrible and the reviews seem to back this up. I skipped it. However, if she is digging it she may be fine with the way it controls. My wife is much better at controlling the little fish thing in flOw. I get turned around on it all the time.

1.9 now avail. to d/l. it took me less than 5min. to download and install it. I'm shocked!!!!

mbs 07-23-07 10:46 PM

Took me about 45 minutes to download. My connection is pretty good, so I guess I picked a bad time...

Thanks! Worked like a charm.

How does playing PS2 games work on the PS3? Does it play all PS2 games? Or do you have to download patches like on 360? Also can the Guitar Hero controller work with the PS3? I'm torn between getting a PS2 for Guitar Hero or just getting the PS3.

The PS3's that are on the market now have the chip in them to play PS1/PS2 games. Pretty much all games will play. Starting with the new 80gig model they will be using emulation just like the 360 does.

With the 60GB it will play everything the current slim PS2 plays. No patches or downloads needed.
I don't know of any reliable way to get the Guitar Hero controller to work. I'm waiting for a real wireless PS3 guitar to come out. It will hopefully work with 1 and 2.

You can't just plug it in and have it work? Or does the PS3 not have the right controller hookups? Man that sucks if it won't work.

NVMD, just did the research myself and it looks like I'd have to wait for Guitar Hero III and use that controller.

DJ_Longfellow 07-24-07 09:32 AM

I still cannot get my music to stream.

I can get the pictures on my external HDD to stream through (they are actually the CD cover in JPG format in each folder). I think I just have TOO much music shared....maybe the PS3 wireless does not do good with an external HDD hooked up to my PC.

There is a third party PS2 to USB adapter, but from what I have read it does not work with the PS2 guitar.

Weird. I haven't had any trouble, but I prefer my XBMC for this and have only used the PS3 a few times.

So 1.9 is out to let you change the background? Will it change every month like the PSP does?

ChrisHicks 07-24-07 04:19 PM

this is what I'm using for now:

If you are talking about the standard background, its been changing every month since it came out.

illini420 07-25-07 02:33 AM

FYI, if you need some backgrounds for the PS3 (hi-def) try the sony playstation network forum. Go to the general chat and the thread should be on the first page or two. They have links to files with around 200-300 pics bundled together (around 100-125MB download). I downloaded the 2 larger files (#1-10 and #11-20) and there are lots of cool backgrounds to use.

Actually, here's a link to the thread for convenience:

The one I'm using is the smiley faces in the bottom row of collection #3:

I have a nice simple background....I think it is a Pikmin getting Teabagged in the lower right hand corner. I don't even know what Pikmin is really, Just a fan of the artwork.

Anyways, back to my streaming issue. I cannot seem to see my MUSIC, but if I go to Playlists, I can play my music. Although, it only shows a few playlists, not all of them. This just seems a bit odd to me....I still think it goes back to my USB HDD.

Mopower 07-25-07 07:29 AM

Well I bought a PS3 last night. Why? I have no idea. Mainly for Blu-Ray. It's a beautiful machine. A little more sturdy than my 360 but just as hot! Now I need a small component rack to put my 360 and PS3 on so they can both breathe.

Just remember to keep them far apart, there was a story about a PS3 killing a 360 because they were to close to each other.

My 360 has been repaired once already. A foot between the two should be enough I would think. They aren't going to run at the same time.

DJ_Longfellow 07-25-07 10:52 AM

Yeah, I noticed the PS3 runs pretty hot. My space is pretty open....basically an open TV stand with my TV on top of the stand. I keep about 2 inches from the side on the PS3.

Of course, maybe my 360 got scared, and that is why I have the rings of death.

It basically goes like this:

( Sony 60" 60A2020 )
----------------------------------
|360 (space) Speaker (Space) PS3|
|Receiver (space) Cable Box |
----------------------------------

That will be fine. You don't want them running at the same time. Both consoles pump out a lot of heat and in the same confined space they will start taking in nothing but hot air and be unable to cool. The PS3 will probably survive this, but the 360 will more than likely melt.

Heavenly Sword Demo Descends Thursday
PSN to receive eagerly-awaited demo in US and UK.

"This E3, Heavenly Sword started earning a name for itself beyond "Goddess of War." Is really as great playing as its visuals? Find out for yourself this week (hopefully); Eurogamer reported earlier today UK PS3 players would be getting their first slices of the action this Thursday when the demo hits PSN over there, but Sony has confirmed to 1UP that the demo will arrive in the North American PlayStation Network store this week as well."
