This may have been posted earlier, but the demo for the Gundam game that uses the Dynasty Warriors engine is up on PSN.

Is there a way to continue DVD playback from the point where you left off when you turn off the system? My (Sony) player from '99 was able to do this, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a way to do this...

That Super Sprint style game on PSN looks cool as hell.

Oh, I hope that Dynasty Warriors: Gundam games hits Live soon.

I haven't found a way yet. I know HD-DVD has a BOOK-MARK feature, where you can bookmark and resume.

I really hope they have a resume feature...anyone know?

Many thanks for the game suggestions. I ordered a PS3 from Amazon last weekend and it should be here soon. Glad to hear there are some decent games online that you can buy for low prices.

Although some folks seem to not care about it, I'm glad I can easily play old PS2 games on this version of PS3... I never had a PS2 (only an original Xbox) so I may pick up a couple "big" PS2 games.

Few simple things that helped me decide to get a PS3 (and correct me if I'm wrong on anything): Wireless built-in, easy to upgrade hard drive, HDMI, free online play, BluRay player, bonus items at Amazon, and the 5 free flicks.

I'll ask again. I've seen a couple people (Ocelot and darkside) post that Super Stardust HD was $7.99 when they bought it, but it shows up as $9.99 when I check the PS Store. Was $7.99 a limited time promotional price, or am I missing something? Although it's only a $2 difference, at $9.99 I'm considering the game, but at $7.99 I'd probably get it.

Eat, yes, the original price was $7.99 but they raised it to $9.99.

Those bastards did raise the price to $10. I don't remember it being a limited time price, but Stardust was $7.99 when it first launched. It is worth $10 though.

Maybe I missed them saying it was $7.99 for a limited time, but I have a feeling it was selling very well and they raised the price to capitalize.

Sony did the same thing with Flow, but I remember that one was advertised as a special limited time price. It started at 7.99 then rose about a month later.

I have to say that Super Stardust HD is well worth the $9.99 (plus tax).

Me and my friends have played the hell out of it and I've only had the PS3 for 4 days.

fLow sounds neat. May bite on that one as well.

Yes ... as a movie player, it will RESUME from point left off.

i didn't even notice that the price went up by $2... wow, i'm glad i brought it a bit early. Well, for $10 is still good...

anyhow, at one point flOw's price went down to $5 (or was the Blaster game?)... but judging from the popularity with Stardust, i doubt it will be discounted at $5

hit the triangle button instead of X while hovering over the blu-ray disc to bring up the option to play or play from the beginning

Does the PS3 not come with component cables? Mine arrived today and no component cables (but composite ones!?).

Is there any difference in quality of the 3rd party cables? Any recommendation?

No component cables come with it, only composite. Which is pretty dumb considering the whole High def marketing and Blu Ray support.

Buy some from monoprice.com.

I'm also surprised about the lack of a resume function. My years-old Sony dvd player remembers the stop point of multiple DVDs, you'd think they'd have the option to store a list on the HDD or something. Thus if I'm watching something, then take it out to play a game, then put it back in, it won't resume.

Also, I've noticed that some games seem to display bigger than the viewing area on my DLP. Is this due to overscan? I've noticed it on stuff like Virtua Fighter, where some of the menus and health bar stats are not fully on the screen.

One more newbie question... Is having the PS3 vertical or horizontal better? I know in the case of the 360, its more likely to fail when vertical. Any issues like this with the PS3?

The only system I'm comfortable with leaving vertical is the Wii. I would keep the PS3 horizontal.

I second on keeping it horizontal, and also second monoprice.

It seems like it would be very stable on a hard surface. It is pretty stable even on a carpet but I didn't quite trust it that much. I got a $15 stand at GameStop (probably cost 15 cents to make) that gives me the confidence to have it vertically on carpet. Just some added peace of mind for me. I only put it vertically because it seemed like the fan noise was slightly louder in our stand, even though it's open, because maybe it was reflecting off the glass shelves.

Edit: Oops, I read your question as 'fall' instead of 'fail'. Since it vents on the top it should be great vertical. Most Sony ads show it vertical.
