EA Confirms EA Playground For Wii, DS
Electronic Arts has officially confirmed the company's forthcoming EA Playground, a collection of schoolyard sports games for the Wii and Nintendo DS in development at EA Canada, the studio responsible for the well received Wii version of Madden NFL 2007.

The game, which was first revealed as part of an IGN preview in early May, will feature a compilation of user friendly games that are designed to be easy to pick up and play by players of all ages and skill levels, not unlike the Nintendo Wii pack-in title Wii Sports.
According to EA, both the Wii and DS versions will feature games that are specifically tailored to take advantage of their specific platforms, with players swinging the Wii remote to play tetherball, or blowing onto the DS microphone in order to shoot spitballs.
In addition, while multiplayer gameplay is expected to play a significant role in EA Playground, the game will also feature a single player mode allowing players to unlock new activities as well as earn rewards and stickers that can be used to upgrade their character's abilities.
“Young, old, male or female -- EA Playground has something for everyone,” said Executive producer Dave McCarthy. “EA Playground transports you to your fantasy playground, packed with interesting characters, over-the top gameplay, and a ton of collectables. Kids can bring the excitement of the playground home, and parents or even grandparents can re-experience their childhood thrills.”

ANOTHER minigame collection. Unreal.
I'm strongly considering selling my Wii if Mario Galaxy isn't great. It's turning into nothing more than a gimmick system for minigames.

I haven't even turned my Wii on in about a month and a half. There's just nothing to play on it for me. I do still need to pick up Mario Party 8, because I've always been a big Mario Party fan...but the fact that the Wii is a minigame console is very disappointing.

We're still in tech demo / mini-game hell as far as the Wii goes. Hopefully, as Josh H has said before, we continue along the same cycle that the DS did and get the great games soon.

I'm keeping faith as the DS was just as bad it's first year, and look how that turned out.

For now I've got Paper Mario and Zelda: TP to keep my single player gaming time occupied. Of course, having just gotten my Wii, I realize that many of you have played through these games already. I do want to pick up one other party game (probably Mario Party 8), but then I'm looking forward to SMG... and that's about it. Maybe they'll put a GTA game out on the Wii - that would make me happy!

People complain about mini-games. I don't get it. Don't buy them. There's plenty on the horizon that's not mini-games.
Confirmed this year (not mini-games):
Mario Strikers
Manhunt 2
The Bigs
Resident Evil: UC
Metroid 3
Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros
MySims
Zach & Wiki
Madden 08
Fifa 08
Tiger Woods 08
Battalion Wars 2
Dewy's Adventure
Guitar Hero 3
Nights
No More Heroes (This year?)
SoulCalibur Legends
and I'm sure there's more.

As for the upcoming games:
Must Buys:
Metroid 3
Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros
Keeping an eye on:
Nights
No More Heroes (This year?)
SoulCalibur Legends
The rest I either have no interest in or will buy on another console. Guitar Hero 3 I'll just pick up for PS2 since I already have 2 controllers, sports games will wait until I get a 360 as realistic graphics matter to me a lot in sports sims, much more than waggle anyway.
So the list isn't too shabby, but not very impressive either IMO. Hopefully 2008 will really pick up.

I don't know how many of those I want to buy at $50, but I'm interested in several of them. In fact... I'm interested in most of them.
Here's some I might pay full price for (or will request for Christmas):
Metroid 3
Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros
MySims
Zach & Wiki
Battalion Wars 2
Guitar Hero 3
Here's some I'm interested in and might buy at full price depending on reviews or how much money I have.
Mario Strikers
Resident Evil: UC
Tiger Woods 08
Dewy's Adventure
Nights
No More Heroes (This year?)
SoulCalibur Legends
that's pretty frickin' impressive, imo.
But then I have much broader game interests.

Well, basically, these are all grown men that made the decision to purchase the system, then, when Nintendo fore-goes the first round of fellation, they all scream on the mountain tops how "gimmicky" the system is.
Sell the fucking thing, jeez
