I picked up all of the first 4 N64 games off the Wii (Mario 64, MK64, SF64 and Zelda OoT)

Obviously OoT is a must have, and I owned it before and bought it again (didn't have the GC version, just the N64 cart). Also Starfox is really fun, even though I never owned it.

Mario 64 really aged poorly IMHO. I find it frustrating and not nearly as fun as the 2d Mario games available. Finally, Mk64 is still great fun multi-player, but it's a true pain in the ass single player. I didn't remember it elastic banding so badly, but it's painful. I'd say Starfox and OoT are worth it if you plan to play through them again completely, MK is not worth $10, but probably $5 or $6, and Mario 64 is not really that worth it.

How similar is Paper Mario on N64 to Paper Mario TYD for GC?

Paper Mario is my first VC purchase without immediate buyer's remorse. Tecmo Bowl was fun but edited out the player names, F-Zero X was fun, but the controls are just off from the N64 controller.
Paper Mario though is still awesome. Played about an hour and I'm ready to finish this one again. Can't believe it has been so long since I played it the first time.

Without starting a new thread, what's your favorite multiplayer Wii title? I want to pick up a new game tomorrow...don't know where to start besides Mario Party 8. I've seen some bad reviews, though...

second Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Gamestop is listing Wii Fit at $69.99. Not bad.

I never played a lot of Mario 64 when it came out (didn't have a N64) so I bought the VC. I think it's ok. I'm surprised the amount of praise it gets though. I guess because it was the first 3D Mario, but I agree with you that it doesn't hold a candle to the 2D Marios. Yet, I'm still really looking forward to Mario Galaxy.

I've also picked up OoT, but haven't played a whole lot of it yet. I still need to finish TP and I also have a copy of WW.

I passed on MK64. I have Mario Kart on the DS. Didn't want to spend $10 on an old N64 version. I'll probably get Mario Kart Wii when it comes out.

Starfox just didn't look like it aged well, so I didn't bother.

I'm fairly positive I will be buying Paper Mario. The graphics actually look pretty amazing for a N64 game -- I guess cause it's mostly 2D.

WiiWare 2007 Debut a Possibility
Channel launch rests on shoulders of devs, with a 2007 launch possible if games are ready.

Harrison explained that WiiWare's release date lies on the shoulders of developers and that "if they have their games ready and they're of an appropriate quality, then there's nothing to stop them from launching before the end of the year".

I can't believe I am going to say this but Mario Party 8 is damn fun. Raving Rabbits it cool and all but the menus and game setup drove me nuts. My wife and I played it only 2 times together and we got it in December. MP8 is only a rental but so far in the 3 days it's been here we have logged a ton of time into it. The boards are amazing and the games are pretty cool.

Hopefully that will be something that is fixed for part 2. The menus and setup were the only thing that bothered me. I thought the non-simultaneous MP would more than it did, but it was still a blast.

Thanks for the input. I went with Mario Party and we're not too impressed. I guess I was expecting a bunch of minigames without having to play the long-winded boardgames.

Mario Party should have a mini-game only option. I'm at a loss as to what it is on the menu, but check around.. I'm pretty sure it's there. Personally, we love the board game aspect and Mario Party 8 has the most varied boards in the series.

? Ok.

KurrptSenate - you can play the minigames...if you unlock them by playing the board games.

when you buy the game, there is a list of games that are already unlocked. you have to unlock those by earning points playing mini-games (like a 2p competition) or by playing the actual board game and earning the points that way

This is good news, as the table tennis games I've played on the console (on Wii Play and Mario Party 8) left a lot to be desired.

Isn't Rockstar's Table Tennis pretty fast-paced? Can the Wii react as fast as the players will require it with the accuracy they intend?

Any word on online play for it?
