Supposedly some Target and Sears (and maybe others) stores have the game only on the shelves already. Have to stop at Target tomorrow anyways, and there's a Sears right next door, so I'll see if I can't snag a copy.

Thanks for posting this. Just checked on Gamestop's website, and mine is too. Actually, it looks like damn near every Gamestop in the company is having one. Looks like I'll be picking this up at midnight Saturday night.

Partially bummed about not being able to use the Xbox rechargeable battery packs, but SO excited for a wireless guitar. Downloaded the demo this morning, but only had time for the first song. Looking forward to playing this on Sunday!

Holy crap am I excited after watching these note charts. Number of the Beast looks great, One's outro section looks killer. Wish I had time to watch more. The Dragonforce song looks very beatable... for the first 5:30 or so. Then it just looks stupidly horrible. I can't wait to sink my fingers and arthritis into that one.

Now do I get it for the Wii, or wait until I have a 360 or PS3 (PS3 could happen before Christmas). Decisions, decisions. Argh!

If none of my friends were getting this, I'd get the Wii version because the guitar sounds very cool.

Checked out the 360 guitar at GS on my lunch break. Feels pretty solid. A lot better than the Xplorer. The game disc wasn't reading though so I couldn't try it out.

Was the neck thin like the one on the Xplorer or was it thicker like the PS2 SG controller?

^that's what I'm dying to know... I hope it's thin because I'm used to the Xplorer and the added thickness screws me up when I play the PS2 version at a friends house...

I played with the new controller and I didn't notice much of a difference in the neck with the new controller over the GHII 360 controller. Then again they didn't have it set up with a strap at any of the demo stores so I may be wrong.

Hard to tell. I didn't notice a difference. Maybe slightly thicker than the 360 controller. At this point I'm guessing.

The list I saw on the XBOX.com GHIII forum listed only a few stores in each state as having an opening. I guess it was an early version or someone had the wrong info.

I'd advise anyone planning to go at midnight to call their store, just in case. Despite my store being on the list, the manager says they're not opening at midnight...not enough preorders. They said they'll open at 9:00AM Sunday for it.

Sounds like Best Buy will be giving out free Sex Pistols guitar faceplates for people who purchase the game. I'm not really a fan of the Sex Pistols but I am a fan of free stuff.

bonus! I reserved it tonight so that I could get the cool guitar strap, a face plate sounds rocking!

I saw that faceplate today at BB. It was fugly. If it's the same one of course. They had quite a few. Yellow with the Sex Pistols logo in orange, IIRC.

Given that Slash is such a prominent part of the game, you'd think it would have been a G 'n' R faceplate.

Has anyone heard anything about specific faceplates or anything besides the Sex Pistols one now?

I just found out why the GHIII guitar won't use the MS battery pack. Red Octane is going to sell a proprietary recharge kit for $25. Very weak. rechargeables it will be for me.
