I started downloading about 4 minutes after it went public, and I didn't have any problems. It took about 15 minutes, and I'm using the wireless adapter.

While screwing around with my 360 the other day, I found the options on the Dashboard for universal controls. I set my Y-axis as inverted for action games and when I started up Halo it was already inverted. I'm pretty sure that's why.

I can't quite remember where they are though - I think it's called something like "Game Details" in your Gamercard.

Bungie officially extended the beta from June 6th to June 10th, due to the problems caused by Crackdown

Yeah, I tried the low power mode also....no luck. It flashed for a second to work, but nope. So, I just left my 360 on to download this morning....my wife will shut off later. Hoepfully it is downloaded by now

The bubble shield comes in handy on territories. Just drop one over a flag and you don't have to worry about people sniping you from a distance while you're gaining control of the area.

...and yes, the Spartan (Horizontal Hammer of Dawn) Laser kick ass.

Man you guys are making me want to buy a 360. Then I read the red lights and say forget it, I'll wait for the cooler chips, or at least a drop in price. I want this thing to cost me 300 after warranty, but I have a feeling I'll have to settle for 350.

The Bubble Shield is cool (makes a kick-ass sound too) but my favorite moment of last night was tossing a Power Drainer on the opposing team while they tried to capture a flag. They completely freaked out and ran in all directions.

I played 4 matches this morning and came to the conclusion that I completely and totally suck at Halo. I think I got 6 kills over the course of the 4 matches. It was fun, though -- I'll keep at it.

I've never played Halo, but I suck at multi-player FPSs. I get my ass kicked.

After playing the beta for a while last night, I thought it would be humorous to see if anyone was selling their hard drive with the beta on it.

Now, I didn't see anyone selling their HDD, but I did see someone selling the "friends and family code" for 80 bucks!

Huh. That's odd. I never saw an invite. Then again, it is a beta so there could be some bugs. If I had seen an invite, I definitely would've joined you guys.

Is this the same laser that was in the single player mode of Halo 2?

How many maps are there in the beta? I've played three on High Ground and one on Snowbound. Are there other maps?

So far I am really enjoying the maps. Snowbound is ok. King of the Hill is fun on that map but regular old killing modes aren't. Those raised structures on the level are the only areas that seem to get any action so it feels very unbalanced when you play. On the other hand High Ground is an amazing map. Lots of corners to watch your back on and some great spots to hide out in. I have yet to play the third map.

For those with the Game Over issue, did you try the fix posted by abrg earlier in the thread (post #38)?

I think Snowbound is pretty bad. It's not really very fun although I can see it getting pretty crazy for CTF or Assault.

Valhalla is great, Blood Gulch / Coagulation reborn. And High Ground is very good too. I still don't have it completely figured out.
